  1. Heavily disagree. Mazara has had success at the MLB level. Has he reached his potential? Absolutely not. But he’s been replacement level, and is still just 24 years old. The kid has a future, and most likely will have a few seasons where he might be better than he’s shown. Fulmer has shown zero ability to compete in the majors, and Hansen is quickly approaching “never going to see the majors” territory.
  2. Red Sox make a lot of sense. I feel like they'd be most likely to overpay, or at the very least meet the expectations the Mets are looking for.
  3. I just looked through all his replies and tweest in the last 24 hrs, and I don't see anything mentioning potential trades that you suggest in the OP.
  4. Even so, they should have made this Sat/Sun.
  5. I never said they would, but their asking price has to be sky high considering the circumstances.
  6. I know a lot of you don't care for this guy, but at least it's a rumor.
  7. If the Sox are trading for Diaz, he has to be the closer. Seems odd they would be willing to part with young talent to get him though. Mets traded Kelenic for him. They aren't going to give him away.
  8. I've thought about this a bit now, and I don't think if this happened it is necessarily as terrible of a move as some of you have suggested. I would preface this by saying this is totally dependent on what it would cost to get him, and also depend on a key offseason move. If the Sox traded for Mazara, obviously the hope if that at 24 there is still loads of potential that will be unlocked over the next 2 years of control. That makes sense considering Tilson, Cordell, Jay, and Garcia have been trotted out there and are either AAAA fodder or solid bench pieces. It also doesn't appear that the current crop of minor league OF are going to be ready at any point in 2020, so there needs to be some type of solution. I know Puig is a favorite, but is he really worth what his contract may demand? And the next best option in Ozuna is not really a realistic option for RF. Now, what if the Sox make Grandal one of their top priorities heading into the offseason? We already know that they went after him last offseason and missed out. If they could land him, The Sox could end up with this lineup at some point in the 2020 season: 1. CF - Robert (R) 2. 3B - Moncada (S) 3. C - Grandal (S) 4. LF - Jimenez (R) 5. 1B - Abreu (R) 6. RF - Mazara (L) 7. SS - Anderson (R) 8. DH - Collins (L) / McCann (R) 9. 2B - Madrigal (R) I think that is a fairly competitive and realistic lineup. Remember, rosters are going to expand to 26 players in 2020. You can carry 3 catchers theoretically - always playing 2 of them utilizing the DH. Let Collins get his AB's and rotate McCann and Grandal with him. If Mazara is more of the same, the hope is that by 2021 season, you have one of Rutherford, Basabe, Walker, or Adolfo make the jump.
  9. No way would I move Lopez for only 2 years of Mazara. Especially with the way Lopez has pitched since the break. If he gets back on track and closer to 2018 Lopez you have yourself another quality arm for the future. Sox can’t really afford to subtract potential starting pitching at this point.
  10. Replace Rondon with this guy. Put Sanchez to the bench.
  11. He's still just 24, so there is definitely a chance he's still going to improve. Seems to be extremely consistent over his career too. Not sure why the Sox would tray to pry him away though, unless they think this is a buy-low opportunity? I don't really see the fit, especially since it would almost have to cost pitching.
  12. This weekend is going to be brutal. I think the Sox would be lucky to get 1 from the Twins.
  13. I’d love to go get Greinke. Plus you have the possibility of Rodon later in the year. That would help eliminate the need to depend on the Covey/Detwilers of the world.
  14. Asking prices must be through the roof. There's a lot of decent arms that could/should be available.
  15. I remember sitting in my car listening to it on the radio in the parking lot outside of Elmhurst College’s Admin building. I had a meeting with them to talk about transferring in the following semester. Ended up being almost 30 minutes late because of that 9th inning.
  16. There’s absolutely no reason to push Kopech and risk further injury. If that means shutting him down in the second half than so be it. I would follow a similar plan to how the Nationals handled Strasburg following his TJ. He appears to have been limited to 159 IP.
  17. It seems like he's hitting 98 now too? I always thought he was a 93-94 guy, but I keep seeing twitter updates that his velo has increased and he's even able to maintain it late. He's a nice surprise this year for sure. Almost helps make up a little for the injuries to Dunning and Lambert.
  18. I don't see any reason they couldn't figure out a way to make them like the NFL Field Goal nets behind the uprights. At the very least, the areas directly behind the dugout should have some type of retractable netting for the kids.
  19. Abreu currently has a wRC+ of 109. That means he's technically only 9% better than league average. Don't let the HR's fool you. Yes, he's been a fixture for the Sox lineup, but he is dangerously close to having a sub-.300 OBP. He is far more valuable to the Sox than any other team right now due to what he provides the clubhouse.
  20. Hard pass for me.Russell literally has zero value right now. Even with ignoring all the wife-beating baggage, he has been bad this season and has some serious work ethic concerns IMO. Guy probably does need a change of scenery, but I sincerely hope it is far away from the South Side. Chatwood is nothing but a lateral move along with trading cost-controlled assets to simply acquire Marquez. There are plenty better guys to go after, especially when the Cubs are near the bottom in farm depth.
  21. He’s more of a fit than not. His influence and leadership he can provide to Robert alone in his first year will be worth it alone. Eloy and Moncada have both praised Abreu this year for helping them make the transition. He can stay in the same role he’s in this year as a 1B/DH, until Vaughn challenges him most likely in 2021. Plus if I’m not mistaken, rosters will be up to 26 starting next year, so it’s not a waste of a roster space.
