I can’t imagine the Red Sox are seriously considering trading Beinentendi. His value is down, and he’s low cost controlled. Even if it was a serious possibility, I’m not sure it really makes much sense for the Sox to land him considering what it is going to cost to get him. He’s mostly used as a LF/CF, and that’s arguably the most locked down positions right now for the Sox.

Favorite Piece of White Sox Memorabilia

Multiple. I figured it would be cool to have looking back 10, 15, 20 years from now and see who ended up having a major league career and who busted. Still room for Collins and Vaughn too. -

I've got quite a bit too. My favorite would be: - custom mounted display case with 25 individually signed 2005 WS baseballs by each member of the active roster in the series Couple others: - signed Chicago Tribune sports section front page of A.J. getting punched by Barrett by Pierzynski. - the "Perfection" Buehrle poster signed by Buehrle, Wise, and Castro - 2005 WS Team Baseball with: Guillen, Konerko, Dye, Pierzynski, Iguchi, Contreras, Garland, Crede, Jenks, Blum, Harris, Everett, Podsednik, Hernandez, & Rowand - my 'Rebuild Ball' of all the prospects including: Jimenez, Cease, Giolito, Lopez, Kopech, Robert, Fulmer, Moncada, Burdi, Burger, Madrigal, Rutherford, Basabe, Adolfo, & Sheets - HOF Baseball signed by Thomas. -
If you could pick one position player to add to the roster

I went with Bellinger. Left-handed power bat that could play 1B/CF/RF/DH. -
Agreed. McCann should help him out a ton. He'll get there, we just need to have patience. Going to be interesting next season having Gio, Lopez, Cease and Kopech all in the rotation. We might want to prepare ourselves for some growing pains.

Sure, PB are not a great stat to base a catchers defensive skill on, but look at his career. He is terrible compared to other catchers minor league stats. If you don't want to believe me, fine, but google him and see for yourself what the consensus is on him. From an Eric Logenhagen FG chat on 6/28/19:

Just because a guy can throw hard doesn't make them a good catcher. Just google him. There are plenty of reports saying he is well below average behind the plate. Believe Y2Jimmy0, he's a DH. Just look at this year alone - 13 PB in just 45 games at catcher. Collins, who everyone also says is a future 1B, has just 3 in 32 games.

Cordero has actually put up some good numbers in Charlotte.

A lot of new names. Honestly a little surprised Basabe fell so far. I figured some of the injuries he’s had would have been taken into consideration.

Steve Stone with a dose of reality for Sox fans
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don’t think anything Stone said was necessarily wrong. People should try to have a patient outlook at the way the rebuild is developing. That doesn’t mean you should not be critical either. I actually think this team has shown more growth this year than any of the previous ones, despite all the injuries throughout the system. The injuries to Jimenez, Anderson, and Rodon just point out the lack of depth right now, which is something that can be addressed as the team gets closer to their competitive window. I really dislike the house analogy he uses. I don’t think you can compare something like that to a fluid rebuild. Rebuilds are not linear IMO. There are absolutely ups and downs. I have serious doubts whether this FO can get to the finish line, but in their defense, they have surprised the hell out of me throughout the process. Robert signing was unheard of at the time. Eloy’s extension is the largest contraction team history to a guy who never even had a MLB at-bat. This offseason is going to be huge. If they fail to improve the team through FA again, it’s going to be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. -
As much as I agree with you that I'd love to see Nova off this team, who exactly do you suggest take his spot? Unfortunately, there really isn't any other options that are remotely capable to match his performance, let alone best him (i.e. Covey, Detwiler, Despaigne, Nicolino, Santiago, Roach, etc.). I think we are stuck with him.
-
I was going to suggest this. They also fit perfectly from a platoon standpoint too.
-
That leaves 2 players on the bench. I can’t see that happening without additional moves.
-
Good for Reed. He's making this game's line score look much more competitive.

What did the Sox give Konerko? I'd think we could see something similar to that.

Goins Called Up; Minaya Clears Waivers, Outrighted to AAA
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to ChiSox59's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I may be in the minority on this, but I think Covey actually presents more future value to the Sox than Minaya. He's absolutely been terrible - not denying that, but the fact he's hit 98 with his fastball while rehabbing in Charlotte peaks my interest as a potential arm out of the pen. I'd like to see what he could do knowing he's only out there for 3 outs and unload. Minaya seems like your typical run-of-the-mill arm that comes and goes for every organization. -

I’ve seen enough of him that I wouldn’t lose sleep if we never see him pitch in a Sox uniform again. -

What a surprise to all of us no one wanted Minaya. -
Very true, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a serious one either. I think we’re all just ready to jump off the ledge because it’s par for the course when it’s the Sox players and their health.
-
It shouldn’t even come down to Boston. Tilson has played the majority of his career in CF. He should know better. And Eloy needs to learn his limitations. I really hope this isn’t serious enough to sit him out the remainder of the season.

Fucking Ichiro...... I was at that game. And devastated since I had a front row seat along the 1B side.

Big power bat but that's it. K's a ton, doesn't walk, mediocre D. Hell, he'll fit right in. -
That seems WAY more serious, but who knows. Eloy was doubled over for a bit too.
