  1. I wouldn't be surprised to see Michalczewski start in Birmingham for maybe a month or so. Sox also have D.J. Peterson and Ramon Torres who I would expect start in Charlotte. Getting rid of Elmore and Alvarez helped free up that logjam in Charlotte.
  2. Jake Elmore was traded to Pittsburgh as well. Sucks Alvarez couldn't make it. I always rooted for that guy.
  3. Jimenez hits 28 HR's, 84 RBI's with a solid .278 AVG. Abreu bounces back and maintains a .300 AVG and 100 RBI's, but only hits 26 HR's. Moncada joins the 20/20 club and finishes under 200 K's. Rondon ends the season as the starting 2B, hits 16 HR's. Yolmer becomes the backup IF. Jay is DFA by early-June. Alonso is traded at the deadline after leading the team in HR's the first half. We end up b****ing about how bad the return is, and convince ourselves Call was a better prospect. Madrigal ends the year in Charlotte. Nate Jones either gets DFA'd in August, or gets hurt and misses most of the season. Hansen completely falls off the prospect radar. Steel Walker forces himself into the top 10 Sox prospects.
  4. I wonder if they’ll move Bush around position wise. I’ve read some takes that suggest he might end up in LF and that his glove isn’t so great. At 19, I’m sure he’ll improve in some manner, but I do wonder just how bad of a fielder he actually is in the hot corner.
  5. Interesting what will happen now with Vaughn coming back down to earth. If he’s not as elite as he originally seemed, would the Sox take him or choose a more toolsy guy with more upside?
  6. Brandon Guyer is back on a MiLB deal. Probably temporary filler since Cordell is up.
  7. His stats certainly aren’t anything to get excited about, but I’m sure his age has to have a factor in that as well. Seems to be one of the more talented guys available on the international market by all reports. Sox need to keep adding talent to the system. Hopefully there’s a few other guys they are looking at as well.
  8. I don't think anyone really cares.
  9. I want to say last year was the first year they went with 13 out of camp.
  10. I think we're going to see a lot of rotation Engel, Leury, Jay and Palka between CF/RF to start the season. Probably enough so no one is going to consistently be getting AB's they probably deserve.
  11. One of the best trips I ever took was when my dad and I drove 24 hrs straight through to attend 2 spring training games about 8 years ago. Crazy experience because it was totally spur of the moment, and we still both talk about how fun it was. That memory sticks with me more than anything than the hundreds of regular season games we’ve attended over the years. Totally is all about the experience and what you invest/make of it.
  12. Pineda has the chance to be an awesome signing for them. They should definitely be able to compete with the Indians this year.
  13. It really is amazing how little they did to improve the team. They could have easily gone out and signed 1-2 guys and ran away with the division. Their OF is disgustingly bad.
  14. Looks like it hit right below the knee, maybe on the kneecap?
  15. Also means Hamilton is starting on the IL too. Covey's stay is probably going to be short lived.
  16. He had a great spring. Sox might have gotten a steal claiming him from the Padres.
  17. Speculation was they are trying to move Leon.
  18. I know he was, but how many 36 year old pitchers on 1 year deals command a haul at the deadline? I don't have any expectations with him.
  19. Right move. Guy caught lightning in a bottle at the right time to get a cup of coffee at the big league level. Tough series of events/injuries let other push him out of the way. Such a nice guy, hopefully he gets the opportunity again, though I can't see it being with the Sox.
  20. Realistically, Santana probably has the same trade value Miguel Gonzalez did at the 2017 deadline. Who knows though, with no waiver deadline, we really have no clue how teams will react come July 31st.
  21. We can only hope, but remember - it only took Alex Call to land him. Don't expect much, if anything. If the Sox were in the position to compete, Alonso isn't the worst thing in the world. But for this season, I would much rather have used the DH spot to rotate guys in and out and get consistent day-to-day AB's. Alonso totally disrupts that. I'm even more worried about the vesting option. I don't want to see him on the 2020 roster.
