I'll give you a hint: J**** R********
-
Figured he was playing off the reports earlier that Philly was starting to look at Keuchel/Kimbrel.
-
Harper also has a terrible slash line in that park. It'll hurt his ability to opt out to get a better contract.
-
Sounds more like his opinion, but he did have legit scoop earlier in the offseason. This offseason is certainly not turning out the way I pictured it.
-
Would it really surprise you though? Pederson right now would be such a White Sox move. Personally, I was thinking Hill + prospect(s) as I don't think shedding Pederson's 2019 salary would be enough to get the Dodgers where they need to be. Wouldn't surprise me as we all know they clearly had discussions back in January and have traded with each other before. Edit: It also fits the "money will be spent" narrative.
-
I think the Sox are involved in this, but only as the team that will allow for the Dodgers to create payroll space for Harper should they agree to a deal. I can't see them dishing out a contract long enough for Harper and higher than what everyone else is offering.

Dane Dunning: No TJS just yet, rest and monitor

He had TJ when he was in high school, unless I am mistaken. I was talking about in general, not currently. -

So now it appears that all three top prospect arms have/will have TJ. Giolito too for that matter. Yikes. -

Nolan Arenado to sign extension with the Rockies
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Kiebs13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Send him to the Dodgers, take on Hill’s entire salary + a guy like Bellinger. Balance out the value of Bellinger with a few minor leaguers, no one too highly rated since there’s a lot of dead weight coming in with Hill’s $$$. Allows the Dodgers to sign Harper. -
Nolan Arenado to sign extension with the Rockies
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Kiebs13's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jumping on too late has nothing to do with it. The Cubs and Astros also have much more compitent FO’s and excel in just about every facet compared to the Sox. -
100% agree.
-
The only positive I can see regarding Harper to the Sox, is that Riensdorf realizes the marketing value of Harper vs. Manny and maybe, by some fucking miracle, he is willing to go higher because of this. I highly, highly doubt it. But it could happen. I still think it’s more likely Hell freezes over or pigs fly.
-
I’ll believe t when it happens. After WSD’s reaction after Manny towards the front office, I have a much harder time taking him seriously. I get why he’s less likely to attack the FO, but it’s so different from what I would expect out of him.
-
Probably. And they will fall short again. They’ve proven in the past they won’t go long term in pitcher contracts. Offering a 4-yr deal won’t get it done with any of those top tier starters.
-
They really don't, but guys always end up getting cut loose at the end of ST. Probably just another body for the mix. Basabe going down with an injury probably made them feel the need to add another guy for competition purposes if you assume he was slated to start in Charlotte.
-
Why? Guy played LF almost exclusively last season and is another left handed bat. What the hell did Palka do to piss off the FO? He deserves to be playing everyday. Fans want to see him play everyday.
-
As this drags out, why to I feel like more and more that Reinsdorf and Middleton colluded together so both their teams could go sign Machado and Harper? Difference is, the Sox did not expect the Padres to come out of left field and blow their offer out of the water. Maybe thats why Fowler was so on the nose about the Sox. Reinsdorf, being a man of his word, won't enter the Harper sweepstakes because he already gave Middleton his word they could have Harper. I know it sounds crazy, but the way this offseason has unfolded, I wouldn't be surprised if something to this degree took place. Now there isn't a single team other than the Phillies going for Harper, and their owner had to fly out to Vegas to convince Harper to come to Philly.

Will Yonder and Jay be gone by midseason?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep. Could not agree more. Especially Jay. Fucker even said in a prior interview before Manny signed he would not get involved because it's Manny's business. Clearly that's not the case. These guys deserve whatever negative fan reaction they receive as long as they are on the team. -
Maybe.....
-
They should be fired regardless of whether or not they were the leakers. Unbelievable though. I never thought I would ever see such level of incompetence.
