Players have off days and deserve some personal space. Abreu has been nothing short of awesome with kids in any interaction I’ve ever seen at numerous SoxFests. I’ve met him a few times as well and he’s always very friendly.
-
Right? I don’t ever recall a player being moved to much.

2018-9 MLB off season free agency thread

37 vs. 32 though. He comes with much higher risk than Nova. But yes, he did exactly that last year and was a quiet innings eater everyone overlooked. I think the Sox didn't want to go back down that road. -
Realmuto to the Phillies - Sanchez/Alfaro+ to Marlins

Hell no. Cease is flat out untouchable for me unless you’re getting back a budding star with loads of control. -
He was signing #74 at SoxFest, but double check on that.

It's Illegal. They can't until 2021.

Where do they start the season?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
Agreed. I think having both Castillo and McCann as FA's at the end of the year has something to do with it as well. Sox need to know what they have in both of these guys by the end of the year. I can't see the Sox picking up the $8M option on Castillo when they can buy him out for $500K. -
I think this is a very accurate guess. Probably something agreed to in principle pending an additional move.

Totally get what he's getting at, but he does realize he's 40 years old right? -
He totally is. Jay and Alonso pretty much drive that thought home. I think the Sox didn't think they stood a chance with Manny, and once they realized the Yankees were not serious players for they jumped at the chance.
-
I believe he was. His tweets come off as legitimate at times but then there are those agent plants - like SD.

I just want to see Gio show consistency start to start. Keep the Sox in the games and prove you belong in the rotation. I don't expect him to be the anchor the rotation needs, but I don't see why he couldn't figure it out on a similar career path that Floyd had when he was here. He's still just 24 years old, and he has a little time left. 2020 will be the make or break year for him.

I know I've been guilty of this, and to be quite honest - I have no clue why I put him there. Comparing them, Pederson is the better hitter out of the two of them. -
What is the ceiling for Manny Banuelos?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He gives me a very D.J. Carrasco vibe. I'm not really expecting much out of him. Looks like a solid arm that will eat innings if/when the rotation had a bad start. -
1. LF - Henderson $4 2. CF - Trout $5 3. DH - Thomas $4 4. 1B - Thome $2 5. RF - Guerrero $4 6. 2B - Cano $2 7. 3B - Boggs $3 8. C - Posey $3 9. SS - Jeter $3 SP - Martinez $2 CP - Kimbrel $1

Who is Diaz? You mean Laz Rivera?
-
It also allows him to fabricate larger scoops to look more legitimate.

Please don't make me.

Sucks that they are re-doing that kraft cave, but I am very intrigued by the new seating. It looks like it could be a fun place to be, or a shit-show in the making. Probably much better off just hanging with the #108 crew.
-
Trying to figure out where he got this pic, but those bats are clearly Phillies colors with Harper, the word "love," and the Liberty Bell on it.
-
WSD also has gone on record saying he doesn't want to break news prematurely incase it negatively affects the team. I think we all would agree we'd rather the Sox get the deal done than jeopardize it simply to be the person to break it first. If he drops ? it usually is a good idea to pay attention. Same goes with any of the other posters here that get scoop and post cryptically. I'd rather have the excitement of trying to anticipate a potential move or signing than sit in the dark. The offseason is boring enough, at least Thursday gave us some excitement and sparked some good conversation.

CWSpalehoseCWS replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Could be an attempt to make the Dodgers up their offer. Reds can’t possible that stupid, can they? -
That’s too logical. Get out of here with that!

Lack of news from legitimate sources is causing all the attention-seeking nut jobs to emerge from the shadows with "scoop."

It certainly did not seem sold out today. Saturday was packed, but it seems fairly organized so it helped. It started emptying out as the day went on today once guys like Abreu, Jimenez, Moncada, and Kopech signed. Nobody was in line for Giolito and Lopez and Fry signings, which I thought was a little odd (especially since Lopez and Fry were together). I heard about McCormick Place from one person in line, and they said they heard it from another fan in attendance. I'll believe it when it happens. I guess the Sox want to make it a Sat/Sun event. I really hope they don't change it because I'm so damn used to the Hilton now.
