White Sox Option Jacob May, recall Willy Garcia
jeffro2525 replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully May can get it straight in Charlotte. He wasn't getting the AB's anymore on the big club and it wasn't doing anyone any good. -
Pitching not sustainable...but also a sub .210 team batting average isn't sustainable either, so lets just cling to whatever meaningful baseball we have left and enjoy each game.

Petricka & Rodon and 12 Man Pitching Staff

Beck? Gag. -
Well it's something...Sale and Q the next two days so a chance to keep the good vibes going. I would take a 27-9 finish...

Is there a plausible argument for competing next year?
jeffro2525 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It honestly sickens me that it's gotten to this point. You have Q and Sale (arguably TWO aces)to anchor your staff at team friendly deals and everything done around them was just a complete swing and miss...how does this happen? I don't blame the team trying to "go for it" the past few seasons. Q and Sale should have been a HUGE shortcut to competing in terms of filling out the rest of the roster. But it was botched...pretty badly. -
They called Kahnle back up so now we have a bullpen featuring Beck, Ynoa and Kahnle...three guys who should be virtually unusable in close game situations...lets see Turner, Volstad or Ranaudo...we've already seen Kahnle suck. Why not give one of the other guys a go?

I would settle for anyone who could throw some strikes. Everyone of these borderline guys mentioned above have the same problem...throwing strikes. Ynoa, Purke, Kahnle and Beck have all failed miserably getting ahead of hitters at the major league level.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jul 9, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) Last year's team was 4 games under .500 going into the break and never seemed to get over a rough start. This year's team will either be 2 or 4 games over .500 going into the break and has already overcome quite a bit of adversity that would have sunk a team like the 2015 squad. Offensively, their two biggest bats have severely underperformed, and they've had quite a few injuries that have eaten away at depth. Not to mention they've pulled themselves out of that horrible tailspin they were in quite nicely, which would've turned into a death spiral for a team like last year's squad. One highly effective run producing bat is just about all this team is missing to be competitive with anyone in the league. Getting that bat at a premium defensive position like catcher, and having that catcher also be a premium defender, would be a huge boost to a team like this one, and could be just what the team needs to get in the playoffs and maybe even make a deep run. Send them Fulmer and anything else short of Collins that it takes to get him here, and see what happens. I certainly have a lot more hope for what this team can accomplish in the second half as opposed to last year's team. Unfortunetly the team last year hit .500 the day of the trade deadline and held pat hoping for continued turnaround. Ended up being the worst turn of events ever.

7/8/16 - Braves @ White Sox - 7:10 - CSN+
jeffro2525 replied to lasttriptotulsa's topic in 2016 Season in Review
The way the pitching aligns nothing short of 2 out of 3 is acceptable here. If they could sweep...this horrific streak this team has been on stablizes a bit. Sox would get to 24-31 after the 23-10 start...which is bad, but sure not as bad as it has felt at times. -
Really think adding just a quality bullpen arm (or two) is really all that is necessary. A-Jax and Morneau should round out the lineup quite nicely. Looking at a line-up vs. RHP: 1. Anderson 2. Eaton 3. Jose 4. Frazier 5. Melky 6. Morneau 7. Lawrie 8. Avila/Navarro 9. A-Jax This seems like a good enough line-up to me...no point giving up prospects for the likes of Bruce, Cargo etc.

The day we have all been waiting for....

Yes...come on Hawk...don't disappoint. -
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) I used to go on Sox road trips all the time. Cincy, KC, Pittsburgh, etc. It just isn't fun for me anymore. Working in hotels, I can get those with a discount or sometimes complimentary but gas is expensive and most teams' tickets are pricey. If I'm going to get 3-4 days off of work and spend $400+ I'd rather go somewhere nice and relax. Plus, aside from Sale and Abreu, they really have nobody exciting to play, and when you plan these, you have no idea if you'll even see Sale pitch. If I started going on them again, I probably would pick Seattle, Anaheim, or Boston & would never go to St Louis. I've been twice, and the city is a dump. Fried ravioli is garbage and the Arch isn't even a monument. The Mississippi River is brown and the people wear jorts. /endrant This is exactly me. I've managed hotels for 10 years and travel to KC, St. Louis and make trips to U.S Cellular a few times a year...I can't spend another dollar this year even though I can get rooms for $39 or cheaper.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 26, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) If you are going for a 3 yr rebuild, which I do not dispute, there is no sense keeping Robertson. Relief pitchers are too unpredictable to hope they will be needed in 3 years. Better to trade him now while he has some value. As Flowers becomes more and more of Sale's catcher, the more likely the Sox keep him as a back-up since I don't see them trading Sale. Flowers as a backup catcher would be palatable especially if he serves as Sale's personal catcher only and only gets other spot starts on like day games after night games or one end of a double header.

Took the days off months ago. I think I'm gonna end up passing though. Just doesn't sound fun to me anymore.
-
I don't like it. Makes the middle/bottom of order even more of a black hole.
-
I wouldn't mind just pushing the game until later in the year (wishful thinking). It would completely skip Danks and the Sox may avoid Price in the series.
-
I'd say Soto is having a pretty productive game...
-
Soto again...I'm almost to the point where he needs to DH vs. LHP.
-
Good relay?? Anyone??...
-
Soto rivaling anyone on the team as far as meaningful RBI/hits goes.
-
Eddie Rosario=Rod Carew -Hawk Harrelson
-
I honestly would have been more angry had Melky singled right there...seen that out of him a lot this year. Soft out or K with runners on and then a single next AB with 2 out nobody on or something.
-
Swing the bat.
-
Shark has been hit so hard all year. Even his good outings have been a grind.
-
Despicable at bat from Cabrera. Just sickening.
