  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I wonder why the Blue Jays would go after Edwin Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year. They traded for Miguel Olivo in the offseason even though he was a free agent, strictly for the draft compensation, so it wouldn't surprise me. Why they would want Teahen (if the Sox aren't sending $$$ along with him) is a surprise.
  2. This whole "story" surrounding a late-night trade rumor tweet reminds me of the Zack Greinke trade. Some random dude tweeted a Brewers beatwriter at 2am that he had a source saying that the Brewers traded for Greinke... only to have the Beat Writer publicly ridicule him. Next morning, the writer had egg on his face.
  3. Aside from Viciedo.... What's going to happen when Pena comes back (if he does)? When Danks comes back later this week Hector Santiago will be optioned, but Bruney has been out performing any reasonable expectation for Tony Pena.
  4. The Sox picked up his option for 2012. The option would have vested if the Sox won the division this season which is highly unlikely. If they hadn't picked up the option, he could have walked away. If the Sox don't want Ozzie to stay, they sure as hell aren't acting like it.
  5. Also, I heard that Adam Dunn just added Alex Meyer as a friend on facebook.
  6. If you want to watch some seriously awesome "scouting" video of our kinda sorta first round pick bluff bunting and then getting hit by a pitch, here ya go! and his 2009 HS scouting video: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?topic_id...tent_id=4625607
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) ...... and every thread, article, interview and call into a post-game show is ADAM DUNN and ALEX RIOS. AND - how f***ing unbelievably amazing and awesome Sergio Santos is.
  8. QUOTE (since56 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Isn't KW the idiot GM? Rios, Peavey,Jackson, etc. Do the rest of MLB's Gm's play him for a fool or what? You forgot Erstad, Griffey, Kotsay, unThome, MacDougal, Teahen, the 2007 bullpen experiment, the list goes on and on....
  9. MLBTR writes as if a DFA'd Mazquez is big news. He was outrighted in ST. He has cleared waivers twice now. Anyway, maybe Teahen can grab some ABs from Dunn now that Littlebridge is playing CF. Our Mendoza duo of Dunn and Rios can ride the pine.
  10. Went to the game today and sat in a variety of places during the game. First inning, we sat in the fan deck, dead center. Got to watch Peavy pretty closely (rhetorical comment there...) and where AJ put the glove is where the ball went. Everything had vast amounts of movement and he was hitting his spots with ease. Too bad he hit the wall when he re-aggrevated his groin, because he was dealing today. he was 0-2, 1-2 on almost every hitter until he went 3-2 on Brendan Bousch (or however it is spelled). Watched the 5,6,7 innings from right behind home plate and the Sox offense is just a sack of crap. Konerko and Beckham were the only two guys to hit the ball hard all day. Not even hard hit foul balls... these guys are just all off balance and not tuned in. Blame Walker, or whomever, but the offense is bad right now. Missed Adam Dunn's K, but saw the replay. Man it must suck for that guy. He got a standing ovation (at least in our section) when he singled today.
  11. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) do not want to face Miggy Here's your answer:
  12. Morel in May: .283 .309 .377 Needs to hit more than singles... but.... he was always a slow starter in the minors. Every promotion he got, he struggled, then set the world on fire.
  13. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) As much as I want to rag on you for being negative following a win, you are right. Dammit. Ugh. Hard to imagine even typing it... but its true. Texting with a baseball-savvy friend during the game and we both concluded that Morel could become a better all-around player than Beckham.
  14. just got a text from a Tiger fan friend of mine that lives in Chicago, is/was at the game.... Who is this Santos guy? He's filthy nasty. My response? He's our closer.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 23, 2011 -> 03:38 PM) I lived in Dallas in 1996 and 1997. I can say from personal experience that half the town is snobby rich assholes and the other half s***s on their front porch.
  16. Holy s*** this thread sucks. Teahen going to DL means two things... Vizquel plays 3B, Morel gets some ABs and McFearsome is the 25th man. He'll get an AB off the bench twice a week. So really, who cares? Besides, Ozzie wants a leftie power bat off the bench while Teahen is on DL. Who else were they supposed to call up? Jordan Danks?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Verlander had unreal stuff today. I'm not sure how anyone hits him sometimes. Pitch #104 for Verlander? Yea, 99 mph. And pitch #105? 100mph. That's top notch arm strength right there, folks.
  18. If Verlander manages to get these next 3 outs, does it take the sting out of being no-hit?
  19. If the White Sox lose a game at US Cellular Field and no one was there to see it, then did it really happen at all?
  20. Every time this season when I've said to myself, "This is as low as it gets. This team can only improve." They take a bigger step backwards and downwards. They are 4-17 in their last 21 games. They've lost 15 of their last 20 games against the Twins. How much worse can it get? Right?? Well, they could go 1-19 in their next 20 games and have a perfect game thrown against them. No matter how bad this team is or appears, they always find a way to play worse as the season wears on into summer.
  21. Ross Gload and Ryan Meaux for Albert Pujols!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!! Hear me out!!! Ugh.
  22. With the frequency that the Sox put up statues, I am surprised Joe Borchard doesn't have one yet. Buehrle would have to shoot JR's pet deer for the Sox to not retire his number and put up a statue. Hall of Fame is a stretch though. How long did it take for Burt Blyleven?
  23. Removing the outlier of 2007 and looking at the W/L since Ozzie has been manager, the Sox record is 528-445. That's 83 games over 500. That's an average season of 88-74. Fire Ozzie.
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) Hanrahan interests me the most in terms of a team that might be willing to deal already, and a closer who is cheap. If memory serves me correctly, KennyGM tried to acquire Hanrahan in 2008 and the Nationals LOL'ed.
