  1. that picture is probably from when he signed as a Gatorade athlete.
  2. My father worked at the Gatorade Science Lab in Barrington in the 1990s. He retired in 1999 when they were bought by PepsiCo. Sorry, can't help. ?
  3. I remember fondly back on the optimism of this thread from page 711 when I thought that we'd all get free slurpees.
  4. Dylan Covey is an enigma. Some innings he looks completely untouchable and the next inning he can't get out of his own way. Tough call on Covey.
  5. @bmags could also be commenting on my "analysis" of Marwin... I did kinda compare him to Delmonico ?
  6. Agreed 100% on this. The Padres paid asking price. The White Sox have clearly watched one too many episodes of pawn shop reality series.
  7. Drew Pomeranz as well. There's a good reason Preller was suspended. And I'm sure most orgs would have fired a crooked GM, but not the Padres.
  8. Yup. But we all know that's not going to happen with this ownership and front orifice... I mean office.
  9. I'm pretty sure you could plug Delmonico in anywhere on the diamond. That doesn't mean he'd be any good at any of it.
  10. I just realized 3 or 4 posters all labeled Marwin as "meh" while I was typing my post calling him "meh" LOL
  11. Aside from 2017, Marwin seems kinda "meh". 21m is a lot to invest in an older player who isn't a great defender. Looks like his agent did well for him.
  12. I think we are looking way too deeply at his comments about his friends and what they've said to him.
  13. Well, knowing what we do now about the whole process, his friends got that call right. Why the hell would he want to play here over SD, especially for 50m less?
  14. The White Sox are penny wise and dollar dumb. This is just such a typical White Sox move. This front office reminds me of my father in-law, who travels around the Chicago suburbs in a big van, to and from various yard sales and estate sales, buying other people's garbage hoping to sell it a few months later on his amazon store.
  15. Annoyed when asked about the Sox. Friends advised him to sign in SD. what an indictment of the franchise.
  16. How did he throw his friends under the bus? By saying that they gave him honest advice? "Surround yourself with people who will be open and honest with you, and not people who only tell you what you want to hear."
  17. How is Manny an ass though? If I had to pick between Chicago and San Diego for my immediate work environment, I choose San Diego 10 out of 10 times. Its 72 and sunny EVERY day. And.... he is making 50 million MORE having chosen San Diego. Let's not deflect our animosity onto Manny. The. Sox. fucking. blew. it.
  18. There's that, too. It's also entirely possible that Lopez turns out to be the reliever all the experts thought him to be... and the Eaton trade becomes a disaster too. Yoan HAS to turn the corner... Eloy has to become a world beater and Cease has to be a staff ace. All of these things HAVE TO happen now.
  19. They could post a montage of fan-made memes ridiculing their offseason incontinence
  20. This point being made is paramount... without Cease and Jimenez they are in a dark, dark place.
  21. and for the record, Holmes needs to maintain a professional relationship with the GM of a major league franchise... so I don't fault him at all for, TBH, what was clearly a platform for Rick Hahn. If you want to get blackballed, you go hard.
  22. Right. I do this at work all the time, when I've been told to verbally accept responsibility for something I was instructed to carry out by my superiors, because they won't penalize me for it.
