  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 02:33 PM) My list of who I think will be called up in September Avisail Garcia (obviously) Carlos Sanchez Marcus Semien Andre Rienzo Erik Surkamp Taylor Thompson Josh Phegley Matt Davidson Andy Wilkins I wonder if Mitchell will get a look. Only reason I mention his name is aside from the very Mitchell-esk K numbers, he's been squaring it up pretty good recently, obviously, when he ISNT striking out.
  2. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Aug 15, 2014 -> 09:51 AM) I literally haven't said things like that since middle school, when I stopped, thought about it for a second, and realized how awful those things were to say. You clearly don't play Call of Duty online/multiplayer.
  3. Taylor Thompson probably gets another look, if not just for another warm body to absorb innings.
  4. OMG IT IS SOOOO SEXIST TO IMPLY A WOMAN PLAYING PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL AGAINST MEN IS A JOKE AND THAT SOMEHOW IT IS DEMEANING TO WOMEN EVERYWHERE INCLUDING ALL WOMEN AND EXCLUDING NO WOMEN. seriously people, get a f***ing grip.
  5. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) Avi has options left, so he can just be optioned to AAA without ever rejoining the Sox, though he would still have to be placed back on the 40 at that point. That would be really dumb to waste an option on him when there are other players to send down.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) Do something worthwhile with their lives, win nobel peace prize. You mean like be on vacation and play golf all the time?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) I believe it is 21, no? OOOOOHHH!! But srsly, they HAVE to reinstate him, its not like they are soooo impressed with his OF defense at AAA that they are calling him up. After 15/21 days, the team has to reinstate him, option him or return him to the DL, no? Yes?
  8. Garcia will have been on his rehab assignment for 15 days, which means that the Sox HAVE to reinstate him, correct?
  9. Lackey and Masterson have both been pitching like absolute horses*** for the Cardinals. Maybe they want Danks to complete the trifecta???
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Yeah, that was great. I remember sitting in the backseat of my Dad's company car after he and my mom picked me up at my apartment for a "family dinner" during the awkward post-college "don't give a s*** about sports, just girls" phase I went through... and my Dad had the game on the radio. I was dumbfounded at how bad Konerko's stats were... then, the bomb. Funny how you remember "your immediate environment" when things like this happened.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-163351353.html Yankees ban Kate Upton from wearing Tigers' gear at Yankees Stadium. That's just idiotic. Part of the fun of baseball is having rivalries. Taking things a BIT too seriously, there. They should worry more about how they're going to acquire Tulowitzki or Hanley Ramirez. They just want her showing up naked is all. Can't blame em.
  12. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Between Bassitt, Recchia, Dykstra, and Snodgress, Bassitt is the only one with a plus fastball, which tops out at 95 mph when he starts. If he continues to improve on his change and curve, he has a good chance of sticking as a starter. Even if he ends up in the bullpen, he can be an effective high leverage reliever, which you can't say for most of the other guys. That's why I'd put him over the others. The other thing to consider is that Bassett looks like a baseball player. He has "that" face. Baseball face.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 9, 2014 -> 12:25 PM) All I have to say is FutureSox list is 10 times better than the list on mlb.com I think Jonathan Mayo writes the MLB.com lists and I seriously doubt he has ever scouted Sox minor league affiliates. Its all likely secondhand info he uses.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) This team isn't even pretending to be competitive and everyone knows that. GMAB. This team is 5 1/2 games out of the wild card race and has spent the whole season 5 games under .500. I don't care who he brings back, Adam Dunn didn't sell tickets in 2011 because the team was trash and the manager didn't care. I'm fairly certain that Jerry Reinsdorf and Rick Hahn would much rather trim the payroll down even further, below the 60MM mark, and let attendance carry on around the current levels. Tread water during the rebuild and make a splash when the team is ready to compete. Adding a "big ticket" free agent isn't going to do much of anything for attendance. Besides, that logic assumes the big ticket players that would be available would even sign here. For what? To participate in a rebuild?
  15. Doesn't surprise me as it is hard to judge distance to the wall when running across the warning track at a 45 degree angle. Its Adam Eaton, he's too small to run THROUGH walls.
  16. If a player is Designated for Assignment, is that similar to reconcilable waivers, meaning, if a player is DFA'd, and then claimed, the player's current team can simply turn him over to the new team OR work out a trade?
  17. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:32 PM) Nobody bunt tonight or we might have a fight on our hands. All of those "Japanese Sportsmanship" rules. I wonder if he "tips his cap" when he plunks someone...
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) If I had to bet, I bet it means John Danks hits waivers tomorrow, that way any deal can happen in between his starts. I'd imagine, knowing how the Marlins do biznuts... the Sox would need to chomp like, OMG almost all of Danks inbound skrilla.
  19. Both. because we already have both. And will have both for a long time.
  20. Remember when we made Dewayne Wise an everyday player?
  21. Today was just a really bad day. s*** happens. There's another game tomorrow. #shrug
