  1. I am super stoked for Taylor Thompson. Dude's been mowin' em down in AAA, time for a chance to see what he can do.
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 19, 2014 -> 12:41 AM) Looking at some of the pictures with bodies in it is just heartbreaking. The worst one I've seen is the baby in the middle of a plowed field. Nothing around it for hundreds of feet.
  3. Sounds like Adam Eaton... except Adam Eaton is earning league minimum and Castillo will sign a free agent contract at age 27. Pass.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) I got a feeling Phegley is a AAAA player but ya, he should be getting a look the rest of this season. Maybe they can put a sheet of plywood behind him to act as a "backstop"
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 16, 2014 -> 09:46 AM) This is true. If he feels healthy and doctors have told him he is, I'd choose this route. I'd play Indy ball and become a top 5 pick next year. I'd go to College and get laid like a Hawaiian.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 04:08 PM) Beautiful men can be smellfaces. Is a smellface someone who smells faces or has a smelly face? Is a smellface anything like a stinkfist?
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 08:08 AM) Jesus, is there still people who think we got Eaton for Reed? I mean I know Davidson has had a rough year, but geez. Even so... if the trade was Reed+Santiago for Eaton, I am sure the Sox would still make that trade... hindsight is 20/20. I was pretty cheesed off when they traded Santiago, but now I'm all like "ya I'm just some dumb fan".
  8. It likely makes sense for the Sox to "sell high" on any over-valued player. It also makes sense for the Sox to consider trades for any of their players they don't consider untouchable. If they project/profile Gillespie as a 300+ hitter at 3B, then so be it. Keep him. I don't see how a platoon/rotation/whatever of Davidson and Gillespie and maybe a verteran free agent for 1B/3B/DH would be a bad thing, granted Davidson needs to suck less and be more "prospect-ish" with his AAA shizz.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 12:08 PM) It could also be the White Sox learned from the past. It was ugly when McDowell left. It was ugly when Maggs left. It was ugly when the Big Hurt left, they even took some backhanded shots at Carlos Lee when they traded him. .... For many years, it seemed if the Sox traded a player or they left one way or another, they had something nasty to say. When they got rid of Raines and One Dog, Schueler apparently thought it was necessary to tell everybody they couldn't throw, yet they could never throw and it seemed fine having them both out there for 4 or 5 seasons. It seems to have gotten much better the last several years after years of the knowing it's coming ugliness. Boston now has a reputation of slamming guys when they are out the door. Frank Thomas' departure was a big s*** show, too. Partly his fault, but telling a guy who was the lone reason to go to a Sox game for a long stretch of bad seasons was poor form on the Sox part. Even if the player is a chirpy type, take the high road. One of the benefits/side-effects of Rick Hahn being GM is that he brings a high level of professionalism to the position.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 11:53 AM) Paul Konerko said just the other day that he thought Jose could be a .320/.330 hitter once he got to know the pitchers. He also said that Gordon Beckham would do the same. DON'T JINX HIM PAULIE!
  11. Jose Abreu says hi. note: he is the only reason I watch when Chris Sale isn't pitching. Does MLB.tv count towards "TV ratings" ???
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 14, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) That and he hits those line-drive home runs. This thing looks at elevation. That called the 400 footers he hit out in Detroit "Just enough" In Detroit, they probably were "just enough" with those park dimensions.
  13. According to ESPN's hittracker, Jose Abreu leads both the "Just Enough" and "Lucky" categories. Which means, he is strong enough to get routine flyballs to leave the park. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/detail.php...amp;type=hitter
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) I hope when you hate on AJP you are hating on a player who gave you a WS title. Without him, the White Sox do not win it all for the only time in your lifetime. Unless baseball changes its economic system dramatically, the Sox won't be winning any more in your lifetime. Maybe one if everything falls perfectly into place one magical year to come. Brian Anderson also kicked some serious ass in that brawl. Probably the only reason why Ozzie let him stick around until 2008 (or whenever).
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) And then like everyone else we'll decide in 5 games that he's useless and doesn't belong in AAA let alone the big leagues.
  16. Nieto has better offensive numbers than AJ and Flowers. If its a lost season where the team sells off guys late July, then why not at least see if Nieto can handle catching 4 times a week.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) Anybody else notice anything interesting about this photo: Is that a Guillen jersey framed, on a wall, in the Sox board room? #vomit
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) He has 40 career home runs. I must have gotten my information from Jon Heyman
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 10, 2014 -> 09:14 PM) Scott Downs got smoked against Tigers glad he is gone. He threw 3.1 scoreless innings prior to yesterday.
  20. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 06:39 PM) Well he's got 16 homers and I think he was picked since it is in his home stadium. If I'm not mistaken, he has hit 40+ homers since the ALG last season. he is a legit power threat.
  21. Aren't ALL sox fans considered "foul weather fans" though? I mean, a "fair weather fan" is one whose rooting interest fades when team success fades. Since the Sox have been a cellar dweller for what, 5 years now, all of us who are "fan enough" to register for an account on a message board and argue with each other over things like Gordon Beckham's trade value or Adam Dunn's ISO and OPS+ ..... are in some way a "foul weather fan".
  22. So... the Sox two worst starters throw shutouts and we squander the games our best two starters pitched... sounds about right. #FireWalker
