  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 07:01 AM) I'd say that clinches Gold Glove #6 my favorite quote from the comments: "Why is this news? We've been watching Jeter pretend to play shortstop for decades now."
  2. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 8, 2014 -> 10:07 AM) Danny Knobler ‏@DannyKnobler 27h MLB says Morneau, Sale leading All-Star Final Vote. Expand Hopefully this doesnt mean people will stop voting....
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 7, 2014 -> 05:29 PM) fWAR uses FIP, so it strips the influence of defense on a pitcher's success. Everyone, including FanGraphs, believe that FIP probably goes too far in it's culling, and may underrate pitchers that are uncommonly good at inducing weak contact or preventing homeruns. bWAR uses ERA, so it assumes that a pitcher is responsible for the entirety of a teams defensive effort when he is on the mound. This is inherently unstable and non-predictive because a pitcher is given credit or harmed if (1) his defense is or is performing above or below average, if the pitcher has been lucky or unlucky through BABIP fluctuations, and (3) the pitcher has been lucky or unlucky in terms of run or hit sequencing. The argument fWAR is accuracy over completeness; the argument for bWAR is completeness over accuracy. The truth is somewhere between the two, but most pundits believe it is closer to fWAR. If the truth lies somewhere between then why not average them out? aWar = (bWar+fWar)/2
  4. was this already posted? http://sports.yahoo.com/news/10-degrees--m...-050524735.html
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 09:04 PM) #solvingcaptchasforchrissale I was really hoping their security would be as lax as it was for Pods and AJ. All they required was a random six-digit number that matched. That was easy to jackup with JavaScript. Not worth the time this year.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 06:33 PM) Kazmir and Buerhle were less deserving than Sale, but Kluber was snubbed also and is definitely more deserving. Richards in in the top-10 in pretty much everything ex cecpt walks and WHIP (because of walks) and should go as well.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 06:30 PM) That's awesome Neshek made it after what he's gone through. Indeed. #thumbsup.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 06:29 PM) Right at Farrell, who passed on him We don't know that. For all we know, Jerry Reinsdorf called him and said "dont f***ing think about it" Tanaka won't pitch, so someone else will go in his place.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 06:05 PM) Donaldson, Jeter, Cano, Cruz, Sal Perez in the infield Cabrera not voted in? Shocker.
  10. Ya know whats fun? re-watching Petricka embarass the Mariners with that 98 mph cheese. If Petricka can throw 95-98, down with THAT movement ... AND a change up... "But I thought I was the closer of the future..."
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 05:40 PM) except for the marlin / mets being mention, I think we have had more informative discussion with regard to trades. the idea of the yank with looking for more pitching is still something that have yet to be confirmed. ummm I wonder if he has been reading soxtalk, maybe not. Ha, yup. He probably read my "When McCarthy's arm falls off" post.....
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 03:35 PM) I like it. Those caricatures are all life-sized too, Eaton is THAT short.
  13. We, the intelligent, informed Sox fans.... All he;s sayins is.... Sox ain't trading for some dude who makes 20 mildo a year, so get used to names you are familiar with being replaced by names you've never heard of...
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) isn't there a poster here named gunt There is a pack of "Gunts" where I work, and they all have their initials sewn on their dress shirt cuffs. I'm pretty sure that is where the term originates from.... from dictionary.com: "gunt: a man or men who have their initials sewn on their dress shirt cuffs."
  15. Here comes the 3-run dagger from Cano. Oh wait, its Michael Saunders, nevermind!!! Nice move, RV. Good call.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 03:19 PM) I have a new sig a "male b****" is a "boytch" or as I like to refer them to as a.... "gunt"
  17. Way to suck at life, Dayan Viciedo. This team sucks. Trade everyone except for Sale and Abreu and I don't know, maybe somebody else.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 02:59 PM) Gillaspie has a bruised right knee Devil on my shoulder: "Which is why Cano should have a bruised back of the neck." Passive Aggressive Angel on my Shoulder: "Let's go ahead and piss off their GM so we can't trade with them later in the month."
  19. I want to see how big Noesi's balls are when he has the chance to peg Cano right between the 2 and the 4.
  20. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Had not looked at his free agent status....He'd be a real good pick up. I doubt they add anything either, just going off what was being reported here. Ya, he'd be a nice off-season target for sure. He's a Boras guy so I bet his demands will be that of an ace starting pitcher.
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 6, 2014 -> 12:35 PM) With Boston supposedly being interested I'd gladly take Andrew Miller back who I'm seeing may be on the block. A legit LH reliver to pair with Petricka/Putnam/Jones/Webb for the future would be real nice. Miller is a free agent after this season. Boston is in pretty bad shape. 8 games out of their division, 9 games out of the WC. They have a worse W/L than the White Sox. I doubt they are legitimately adding anything. If the Sox add a lefthanded arm for the bullpen, it would seem based on Hahn's short history, someone younger and pre-arb (like Luis Avilan, for example)
  22. The Yankees aren't out on Danks yet. When McCarthy's arm falls off in Late July (which it does every season) they'll call for Danks.
  23. Now that he signed with Kansas City, I look forward to the embarrassing moment when the White Sox are paying for him to strike out Adam Dunn.
