QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) After looking it up, his career was ended by a non-displaced fracture to his olecranon that needed a screw for stability. They decided to replace the screw which means that healing did not occur properly and may have been misaligned, which could explain why he never recovered properly. That really is more of the stress fracture that I was referring to unlike Floyd's that is obviously displaced. I was watching the game last night and he was cruising until that pitch... after you could see how swollen his arm was, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was something going on in there that caused it to break when he threw the pitch. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Supposedly Zumaya had the same injury. He never pitched in the major leagues again. Of course he had several issues, so who really knows what Floyd's ultimate fate is here. Joel Zumaya's most significant injury was a separated shoulder resulting in AC Arthrosis (which I have and it SUCKS). Was never able to throw a ball again. As highly doucherous as he was, I will always "respect" him for how he injured it.... evacuating his parents from their home that was under threat of wildfire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Zumaya -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 11:03 PM) He's had no control this season. I wonder if the Sox moved him to the pen because of the lack of control or just because they figured he would end up there anyway. He was a fourth rounder last year so there's some prospect status if he starts throwing strikes. His strange and terrible pitching line from tonight should be footnoted with Brett Austin's TERRIBLE defense behind the plate. Two of the five strike outs (well, obviously) were wild pitches that should have been passed balls. Austin threw a ball up the right field line on the second unnecessary K. That inning was brutal to watch, and honestly, for as badly as I wanted to watch the Sox affiliate on TV, I turned it off. Ugly. On the positive side, his "stuff" is nasty. And I can't image its easy to catch a hard 12-6 in the dirt... over and over and over again. When its your second or third pro game.

One of the worst Sox losses I've ever witnessed
Donny Lucy's Avocado Farm replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
On May 26, 2013 the White Sox completed a sweep of the Marlins and subsequently reached 500. Then the following series, the Sox FELL APART at the hands of the Cubs. We all remember that series. The season was all down hill from there. #RoadtoRodon This season is shaping up to be no different. The Sox just swept the Indians and won 2 of 3 from the Dodgers... THENNNN.... we got Robin'd. Could this be a similar falling off point as in 2013? -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 04:01 PM) There is 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, and home plate. 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 yet, if a player hit for the cycle, it counts as 10 bases??? What is this? The Fibonacci sequence or something? -

With that devastating loss lastnight, this team is likely in a coma right now. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) many pitchers want to stay in. with ref to sale wanting to stay, who is the manager? EXACTLY. He also said that he didnt need to go on the DL. Had they let him make that decision, he'd probably be rehabilitating from a visit at Dr Andrews' office. -

Someone put RV out of his misery, please. The problem with hiring a former-player/fan-favorite is it becomes hard to fire them when the vast majority of the fan base will ignore how terrible of a manager he is and rely solely on 20 year old memories when judging his "performance" to the White Sox. -

So my night went like this... Watched the game on MLB.tv. Fast forwarded through the Sox ABs to watch Sale only. Watched wanting to see a shut out. When it got to the seventh inning is was getting clear Sale was about done. He fell behind 2-0 2-1 each hitter in the seventh and narrowly escaped damage. When Sale came out for the eighth inning, I was yelling at the TV. WTF Robin you idiot?!?!?!?! After he gave up the first run in the eighth inning, I said "oh well, no shut out" and paused the game so I could play Call of Duty. I raged in CoD for an hour or so and picked up the game. Then real rage came. What an amateur move. Seriously amateur. Ace or not, he was done. He is coming back from a DL stint. Why push him?? Stupid. Give the ball to the rested bullpen. Halvies start between Noesi/Carroll and a day off before. The bullpen can't give you 6 outs against a struggling team?? He should have been pulled after seven. Stupid. Even today some 12 hours after the game is/was over, I am still pissed off about the stupidity of leaving him out there. ..... On the flipside, as an "Ace" he should have been able to pitch out of the jam and not implode, either. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) Clearly they think they are going to need to sign their #3 draft pick underslot to be able to pay for the first two. Could they just skip the 3rd round and use that $$ elsewhere??? Looks like a nice pick regardless. Imagine the Sox with a rotation in 2016 of all lefties.

Possible Suitors for Gordon Beckham

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) ...who somehow destroyed his right shoulder diving in RF. Well ya... I think that's what the OP was saying.... He has good speed and a good arm, so if he can learn positioning, reads, etc... he will be a good RF-er and be less injury prone. Having to dive at everything likely increases injury risk. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) I like Oliver more I read. Good, potentially great stuff, maybe better than anyone left. Hasn't been able to put it together yet for whatever reason. DUI a day before the draft because he's apparently a moron but that should be a great negotiating tactic. People make mistakes. That doesn't mean he's a bad guy.
