Former White Sox Draft pick from the 7th round 2 years ago Matthew Grimes will undergo Tommy John Surgery this week.

QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 11:59 PM)DeMichele is a little (and I mean little -- 5'11'') XBH machine. He's a bit of a sleeper...
That's around the average height of a 2B in MLB. Jose Altuve is little 5'5". Phillips, Uggla, Kendrick, Pedroria, B. Roberts, Weeks are all 5-11 or smaller. Kinsler and Cano are 6-0. The only giant at 2B is Neil Walker at 6'3".

Baseball America on their Daily Prospect Reports have been showing stats the last 2 weeks on a player in the White Sox DSL League-Antonio Rodriguez-OF. Anyone have information? I find it interesting their following him.

Love the signing of Lopez, but those 2008-2009 that was back before the steroids testing. No where near that player

Where is Bristol playing all their games in the Amazon Forest

Worried way too much on that PTBNL-Myers was a steal. Great trade by Williams.
-
Very good move by the Pirates picking up Snider. Snider still has big potential at Age 23. This trade might put Starling Marte as trade bait for a bigger deal before the deadline.
-
Shocking how much the Cubs got for Maholm and Johnson. Vizcanio has big potential. I think his best days though are in the bullpen.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:23 PM)The Indians would be crazy to trade Choo.
If they can't afford to pay him $7.6 million, Dolan should just sell off.
Santana, by the way, has been MUCH better the last month, but his first 3 months were Beckham-esque, and considered he was considered a future hitting superstar, along with Hosmer, lots of disappointment in KC and CLE over those two guys.
The concussion Santana had early in the year really effected majority of his season. Carlos Santana is finally putting his bat together the last month. Santana is still a stud who gets on base on a ton with his keen batting eye. Future is still very bright.

Hopefully it's between Soptic or Semien. If it's Walker, Johnson, Snodgress, or Smith-it's a horrible deal. Plus we still have to worry about this option kicking in. We have 62 games left and only needs 14 more games. We're in a playoff race, so this should be easily achieved by Myers. Still no word on how much Houston would give us if the option kicked in.

I'm a little nervous who this PTBNL will be in the Myers deal after seeing this in Baseball America.
Lunhow came out and said the PTBNL in the White Sox deal will be a significant piece. What caliber of player would we expect considering the money we sent and what we already received?
Jim Callis: There aren't a lot of significant pieces in the White Sox system, but it makes sense that the PTBN will be of value because the other two players (Heidenreich, Walters) in the Brett Myers deal are fringy. I really don't have any clue who it might be, though.

Haven't heard a peep about the innings watch from Kenny, Ventura, and Cooper.

No need to make any more moves. I'm more worried about the handling of Sale and Quintana. Which can put us back 3years.

Chicago Tribune reports that Keon Barnum is going to start playing this weekend. Hopefully good news.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:43 AM)Rick Sutcliffe used to say tendonitis is what they say you have when they don't know what's wrong with you.
Love the Geddy Lee pic.

Cause for Concern-Barnum has missed the last 19 games because of a shoulder injury. Any news on his progress and to the extent of his injury.

I don't ever really remember hearing Shelby and Harris being considered future starters. They had high hopes on Richar, but was a complete bust.

Nice job Sox on another tough high school signing LHP Jordan Guerrero.

I believe Leesman has the potential to have a longer career in MLB than Axelrod. I highly doubt it will be as a starting pitcher, but I think he can become a solid lefty in the bullpen. The major thing holding back Leesman is his command of his pitches, but has seen steady improvement the last year and half. Plus he's a lefty. I have seen so many Axelrod's in my lifetime to know that he will be a pitcher that will pitch with 6 to 7 different organization as a back end filier when an injury goes down: Kip Wells, Grilli, Wright, Harrell, Wells. Some of those guys I listed had so much more potential than Axelrod. Axelrod isn't suited for the American League and I believe he's more of a AAAA just like Dan Johnson.
-
Heidenreich is a sinker ball pitcher who pitches in the low 90's. He keeps the ball low and is a ground ball pitcher. He's more in the lines of a Jon Garland type pitcher. Plus, Heidenreich is just scratching the surface. He's 21 years old with the potential to add some MPH to his fastball. Great starting pitcher frame 6-5/195. Changeup is starting to develop into an average pitch. Big Fan of him

I think Axelrod really hasn't proved that he can make it as a starter in the majors. He's had 5 starts this year and only 1 was considered a quality start. Yes, his good start was against the Yankee's, but Arod, Granderson, and Jeter were getting the day off. Axelrod will get eaten alive in the Cell. His pitching arsenal doesn't suit our ballpark.
Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays

Embarrassing. Commissioner should veto the trade and banish Loria from MLB. All the owners need to to pressure him to sell. City of Miami should be up in arms
