  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Didn't their minor league system get a real high ranking from many of the "experts"? For a while yeah. But you cant only have that and fail everywhere else. Once they are ready you have to supplement their arrival with signings.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) Another good place to look is in our own division at the Twins. They went into rebuilding mode, and are now seemingly starting over again. That's what happens when you have an incompetent GM
  3. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Agree. That should be obvious to others as well, which makes it rather curious that some pine for that. Who's actually pining for it? And no Jimmy I would not take that offer. Allen it doesnt matter if they could afford him money wise. They still have to trade prospects and there's only a handful of teams with a farm system that can do that. I guarantee you they rather not have him and keep their prospects while settling for a lower player/ paying him. That's the universal rule in all sports. Young assets/draft picks > paying players over market value. If they dont change their price they are both going to be on the roster next year and pretty much forced to go for it again. That's just reality. They better make up their minds soon. Sale's value is probably going to drop off after next year.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) It was also stated that Moncada is off limits. They can f*** right off then. People in the media and even Sox fans on this site act like it's not the Sox that have the leverage. Sale and Quintana are the assets. It's not the other way around. I don't understand this thinking that they purposely asked for too much. Any of the packages that were traded at the deadline aren't even close to enough for Sale or Quintana. It's absurd. Sale is owed $39 million over next 3 years. Quintana is owed $40 million over the next 4 and yet there are some on this site (Yes, Baron I'm referring to you) that want to trade for $0.75 on the $1.00 just because they want change. It's a really incredibly stupid thought process. Ever think that maybe their price is ridiculous and they might never get traded? Or do you just automatically assume that whatever price they are asking for must be correct? There's a reason they will probably both be on the roster during Spring Training. The price is silly and no one wants to pay it. I think Rick Hahn fully understands that and he doesnt actually want to sell them. Plus let's shoot down this whole notion that because more teams are involved that definitely means they'll be traded. There's something called free agency. Now whether you think that talent is scarce in free agency doesnt matter. Free agents only cost money. Chris Sale costs prospects. That's going to hold up the whole process for months. Teams will wait for Hahn to lower his price if he even wants to trade him which I really doubt.
  5. Rick Hahn may think there are going to be more suitors. But that doesnt mean the price will be met. Heyman in his last article posted pretty much the same thing from another front office executive. Just because there is more people doesnt make your price any less ridiculous. Does anyone honestly think their price is going to be met? Or that they actually want someone to meet that price? I actually think they dont want their price to be met so they can keep on going in their dream world where they can just add a few veterans and compete.
  6. Well JB s*** is coming back to the team
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 07:52 PM) Avi has 9 lives Well his father Rick Hahn is still running the operations part
  8. That looks like a hammy explosion
  9. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) I know this is too good to be true. But is there any chance JR told KW and Hahn to stand pat because he plans on finally firing Hahn and KW at seasons end? Perhaps he wants his next GM to be in charge of the rebuild? That's way too optimistic. That would be the correct thing to do.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) Like that will be any better I dont know if they make the playoffs. But they have a very good foundation to be in that mix for many years.
  11. Football right around the corner guys.
  12. Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 39s39 seconds ago Hahn - On fans reaction . We have special talent here so there is a lot of frustrating feelings about our record https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/760218060477370368 We're going for it guys
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) What speech? I just made up what he was going to say after we stood pat. It was pretty much exactly what he said today.
  14. Good news for the team though. They get to stay together as a unit and keep playing garbage baseball until the end of the year.
  15. I mean christ the Padres atleast have a competent front office.
  16. Rick Hahn: 'We had number conversations about every team in baseball but no other deals made sense for long-term competitiveness standpoint' https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/760215176779931649 This sounds exactly like the speech I posted yesterday
  17. This is about as mad as I've been since I had the privilege of hearing Marc Trestman after every game.
  18. Why are people assuming the prices for position players are going to be the same as they are now in the winter? Heard of free agency and less time on our players contracts before?
  19. I mean we can argue all day about why Sale and Q are here. But the real question is why are Frazier and Robertson still here?
  20. We're standing pat guys. Get ready for the the recycled Rick Hahn message.
  21. Time to stand pat. Well done.
  22. Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 34s34 seconds ago Jersey City, NJ chisox havent been in talks w/ texas on chris sale in awhile, word is. price is steep but understandable. great, great LHP https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/760111824574578688 Come on Daniels....make my day
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Therein lies the problem, however. Their trade value decreases as you wait longer...because those years of control are lessening. Another way to put it if you dont mind me adding on.....What do you think is more likely to happen. The offseason hits and they are immediately traded? Or the process is drawn out even more as teams still find the price high and would rather wait out the free agent market(even though the options are slim) because paying them with money is better than highly valued prospects Then your stuck with those two players and essentially being forced to go for it.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) This is a really bad post. There is no compromise. THey need a franchise altering haul for Sale and Quintana or it's not worth trading them. Not really a debate. Not sure what is so hard to understand about it either. Oh Christ. Do we have to go over this again? I have zero faith in Rick Hahn. That's what it amounts to. Part of it is it tempts them to go for it again next year.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 05:56 PM) That is an interesting tweet from Merkin... He didnt throw cold water on the though atleast. Sounds like last minute offers may be in play
