QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 10:28 PM) Exactly. Hopefully your not expecting to get MLB Ready Prospects in that case.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 10:11 PM) It definitely carries some risk, which is why I've argued that the price goes up, not down once the season starts. But I do think that the pressure to put a competitive team over the top sometimes trumps these bs games these GMs are playing at the moment. I guess we'll find out. Those two teams(Pirates and Astros) have alot of pressure on them. I'm just not sure it's enough pressure for them to sacrifice everyone we want. Pirates may be content to just stay the course. Whatever that might be.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 10:04 PM) Oh come on. This guy is basically the second coming of Mark Buehrle. The odds of that are remote. I was being sarcastic. Your taking a risk with prospects we all know that. But I dont see how not trading him is a good thing. Maybe if the free agent compensation didnt change I would be singing a different tune. I think maybe we need to accept these teams value Q at a place where the White Sox are not at and that's all it's going to be. What do the White Sox do then? I dont see the value staying even level in that case.

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 09:58 PM) Flipside of that is true as well. Glasnow shows #5 stuff bu walking 5 per game Keller get TJS Newman has a terrible year Meadows fails to adjust to AAA Etc... and Q blows out his arm. Trade him now or keep him.
-
What would you rather do if you were the opposing team Overpay for a pitcher on the open market plus not giving up your 1st round pick. The free agent market has some really good names next year. or Trading a huge amount of prospects for a very good pitcher but your emptying your farm our quite a bit

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) Or new prospects emerge and today's darlings stumble. Welcome to world of prospects. We have Q signed for 4 freaking years, there is ZERO reason to rush this - even if it means another year Except the price will go down. The CBA turned the clock on for the White Sox. Now prospects become even more valuable with free agency an even more attractive option for the teams in the middle of the draft. Now they dont have to sacrifice their 1st round pick. It's just money. Money is easier to eat when you screw up instead of seeing the guys you just traded on a big league club contributing. I think what your going to get is what your going to get. Either they need to make a trade now or keep him for the 4 years and hope your good by then.

Waiting until the deadline is dangerous. What if Glasnow is pitching? What if Martes is pitching for the Astros? They probably wont want to move those guys if they are contributing to the team. Then your screwed. Look at the free agent list next offseason plus with the change in compensation. I'd tell the White Sox to screw themselves with that asking price with the free agent market becoming much more friendly.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:26 PM) Yeah, they can. Not without a mutiny. They took him out of high school and have a ton of hours developing him. It's not happening. What they get in this offseason is the best it's going to get. So they have to evaluate if that's enough.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) Guys if Meadows was already on the table Q would be a pirate. If they want Meadows they wont get him. Pirates cant trade him.

Who the hell is Sean Sears?
-
Merkin thinks Tucker wont be included. But Dave's trade makes no sense with Fisher and Tucker included.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) Come crawling back. You should have paid up the first time, now Hahn should ask for even more. LOL

Starting to get alot warmer
-
Rosenthal had something on Ross just below the Q stuff. He's visiting the Rangers and is considering several other teams. But he may not be ready for opening day. I think that might be an issue.

Hammel would make a ton of sense then

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Baron replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There was a Yankees column on MLB.com this morning. I believe it was an Exec or Scout that said the chances of Q getting traded by Spring Training were 50-50. But it was another refuting of the Yankees interest articles. -
What happened to Joe West deserves a suspension?
-
The price you get for these players at the deadline with only months of the contract left will probably be lower than previous years. However, it would still be a smart investment.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) Hahn will take his time in getting the right haul for their final blue chip trade piece I doubt they'll get it once the season starts if he's still here. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 25, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Couldn't disagree more. It's all speculation dude. Half a year of Samdazjiezyeahhh got the top SS prospect in the game, the number four prospect in baseball at the time. No one knows what we could get now, or at the deadline, or next year, or in three years. Only thing that isn't speculative is this: if Quintana keeps pitching the way he has - he'all always be in demand and will always command a haul. Except the free agent market is a little more saturated with pitchers next year plus the changes in team compensation probably decreases the chances he would get traded next offseason if he's still around. The Trade Deadline probably wouldnt happen either. Alot of these guys they are probably asking for will be playing. We've already seen how hesitant teams are to trade players that are contributing on the club in the middle of the season. So the previous post was correct. They need to trade him now if they actually want to. -

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) Heyman on MLB tonight right now. Says Glasgow plus others would have to go to the Sox, but not Meadows or Keller. So nothing new or dramatic. Fine with me -

It'll probably be harder to deal him at the deadline. Right now your asking about guys not currently playing in MLB. But some might be come the trade deadline.
