  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 08:48 PM) http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/ra...n-moves/2262481 Sounds like the Rays could be a Debbie downer with regards to the cubs interest in bringing back Fowler, then again so could the Dodgers' suspected interest in Fowler. I remember Bowden said a week ago that he asked the Cubs about Fowler and they wouldnt answer him. He thinks they've definitely moved on.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) What happens first, Desmond signs or Caulfield returns? Hopefully Desmond signs
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:49 PM) It's like the Sox were trolling their fans today having Avi call about tickets. Maybe the Bulls will have Mirotic call tomorrow. The Bulls are another story...players dont give a s*** and Hoiberg looks like he's under water right now.
  4. I still think it's only a matter of time before we get a long article on the White Sox page about Avi's potential and how hard he's working. I expect him to start opening day..no platoon.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) But a rebuild guarantees nothing either. With the Sox history of not developing hitters, I'm not exactly confident they can rebuild an offense from scratch if they traded Abreu and Frazier. I'm sure some will disagree, but the Sox system absolutely sucks after the top 3. You might as well trade Rodon also, as you aren't competing in his cheap years. Yep exactly. I think if it comes to that....Rick Hahn wont be here along with a ton of his staff.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) Too late for that. No rush to rebuild, all it takes is unloading Sale and you drastically improved your system. Well here's the thing. Just because you start a rebuild doesnt mean that all it takes is 5 years and you'll be right in the playoffs. That's what they are missing. Losing now doesnt guarantee winning in the future.
  7. The amount of idiot Sox fans on Twitter getting mad at me for not wanting a rebuild is amazing.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) Greg's comment and someone typifying Avi's bat as serviceable are starting to scare me...the Sox pr campaign is starting to take find some buyers. I think another house bet is in order...Lemon saying Avi may outproduce Cespedes on offense would be an incredibly easy bet.
  9. Dan Hayes had a melt down...so that was worth it
  10. I think the team we have is pretty much going to be it on opening day.
  11. Well hey the White Sox did save me some money. Dont have to sign up for my ticket package again.
  12. We're all good in the outfield so no worries.
  13. QUOTE (daggins @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) I wouldn't say Cespedes is that important, so much as ANY upgrade in the OF is. I would say those projections for Avi are pretty optimistic. Last I looked they gave Garcia a really nice boost on offense. They projected him worse on defense than last year which is hard to imagine.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) it is a discussion question. There is no right or wrong answer, but I wanted to see how important people think Cespedes actually is. In a perfect world we would have a team that atleast broke even on defense across the board. But that's obviously not going to happen. But your offense atleast has to make up for the lacking defense. We didnt have that in the outfield either. Plus it doesnt help when across the board you have some of the worst full time outfielders in baseball defensively. Just too much to overcome. I think Cespedes would help subside some of that pressure. With the defense and added runs...we could be right in the hunt. I dont expect Eaton to repeat that absolutely dismal performance last year either.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) In 2005, that was about 30 wins! That's the problem. It's pretty up in the air for how much they're worth. But I've been really conservative and been saying about 4-5 games. There's some margin for error there. I think that puts us right in the mix for a playoff spot.
  16. That's why I asked him how does he value 30 runs. In other words...how many games do you think 30 runs sacrificed?
  17. QUOTE (L. Ron Paultard @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Yeah defensively, his instincts aren't that good, but athleticism, arm, aggressiveness may allow Avi to become decent RF. You ofcourse understand there's zero evidence to hang any hope concerning this right?
  18. Cespedes saved 14 runs in LF last season. Our outfield as a whole gave up about around 30. Adam Eaton and obviously Garcia were the main contributors to that. Say by adding him in LF and switching around the OF you get close to breaking even. I dont think Eaton is going to have a repeat of 2015 defensively. What do you value 30 runs at?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) His defense and speed would make up for the power...which would be coming from the infield anyways It would more than make up for it
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Yep, they'll probably end up with Kendrick Kendrick costs a pick though which sucks for him
  21. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) Diamondbacks? That's one. But they dont want to surrender a draft pick.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) It will not break the bank to trade for a Colorado OF at all. Those are guys who are solid/unspectacular. Even CarGo isnt some prime property. I highly doubt Blackmon will be cheap.
  23. QUOTE (Sockin @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 10:19 AM) whitesoxdave ‏@barstoolWSD Hearing Sox are out on Yo and turning attention to Desmond, I wish I loved anything as much as the White Sox love signing Nats cast offs This guy said they signed him a few weeks ago. He knows nothing...Jon Snow
  24. Prince Fielder was an obvious blunder. Doesnt matter how much he hits his defense almost always takes everything good he does on offense away.
