  1. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) @Joelsherman1 reporting that the #WhiteSox talks with OF Alex Gordon are "very real" on MLB Tonight. Ofcourse they are. It doesnt make sense to stop now. Just like stopping after you add Lawrie doesnt make any sense.
  2. Didnt Dan just say a few weeks ago that the team might not add anyone after Lawrie? Them giving up Shark's draft pick wouldnt make his drum beating articles over them not doing that look good.
  3. You cant have Garcia in the the lineup playing crap defense and swinging away at garbage. My main focus would be improving the defense in the out field. For all the good they've done. You just cant have that black hole on the team. I guarentee they will be looking for his replacement at the deadline if they do roll with him out there.
  4. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) Would help defensively. Get rid of LaRoche and move Melky to DH. Just a thought I'd like him as a backup on a cheap deal like what De Aza got. But that's doubtful to happen.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Bring back Rios...? *dramatic music* Funny enough I was thinking about that yesterday. Right until I looked at his defense. He was much worse last year than I thought.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Sign Austin Jackson too and move Eaton to right? Jackson's minimal help right now
  7. I fear if we dont give Gordon a pretty enticing offer he wont pick us over the Royals. Although the good news is in 2017 the Royals look like they are going to have a pretty good purge of talent.
  8. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) Oomph personal attacks. You got me. Seriously isnt there another forum you can troll?
  9. I mean it seems like we can pretty much count the Tigers and Angels out of the running. Maybe Baltimore.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:28 AM) When the Cubs signed Zobrist, did anyone mention his defense dropped by 25.9 dWAR. Of course not I did on Twitter that night. Big mistake. Apparently the prospect that he can play 7 positions outweighs the fact that he wasnt good at it.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) Or he is just writing what his bosses are asking him to write. I dont doubt that. But the information they are giving out seems to be a little iffy. But atleast Dan replies to people asking questions.
  12. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) Dan Hayes: Don't think #WhiteSox will wind up w/ high-profile FA. Won't rule anything out. But they prefer trade or FA w/o draft pick attached. I like Dan...but so far he's been a little bit off with what's going on. He forgot Cespedes(he corrected himself later) doesnt have a QO offer attached. Plus I told him Rick Hahn said in an interview I believe it was on MLB Radio that he was talking to free agents with draft picks attached. Nightengale said they were discussing OFers like Upton. Even Merkin is kind of changing his tune on this. I dont think they really know what's going on.
  13. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 09:50 PM) You're illustrating the point of the OP there. His average defense is not that bad and (at least personally) his career 13.1% K rate including last year's K rate of 7.1%(!) is very attractive. No his defense is awful. Dont beat around the bush. That's the reason he's not with the Mets.
  14. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) I think low K rate is the new market inefficiency, look at how the Royals constructed their lineup for proof. Also, look at the expected contracts for Murphy and Upton. What about Murphy? He would of had much more interest if he had played solid defense in the playoffs and most of the year.
  15. Runs saved is important. That's why Heyward's defense is so valuable. I believe the number last year in Bill James's book was he saved 23 runs. Clearly that can equate to a few losses and who knows? Maybe your team doesnt make the playoffs because of those runs not being saved. It's value is right where it should be. It's the other people who think having a negative WAR OFer will be ok that drives me crazy.
  16. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) From what I've read recently it sounds like the Rockies outfielders have a pretty good price tag attached to them. If that's the case and the Sox are willing to deal more prospects then see what Atlanta would want for Inciarte. Otherwise sign one of Cespedes or Upton. It's going to hurt to get Inciarte. He's a very good young player. But he's going to be very expensive.
  17. QUOTE (soxsider11 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) What about adding span to play CF? I would honestly like span and upton with eaton sliding over. Defense is upgraded and adding two solid OBP to this team would really help Span's defense went into the crapper last year
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) He stated the exact opposite. Yep. They have to get creative this year(basically they cant front load year 1 of the deal). But they have Danks and Adam coming off the books next year.
  19. Just love the distortions from people who dont like this deal. Thompson is an All Star and Frazier is Chris Carter.
  20. On MLBNetwork during the interview with Todd they were making fun of him and Lawrie saying there is going to be no coffee in the break room at Spring Training. Todd says he's going to try and beat Lawrie in the energy department but that's going to be hard to do. Sounded a little upset at the direction the Reds were going in. Said he was really excited to play for a baseball team that's excited to win.
  21. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) He aged 7 years. I think if you looked at the vast majority of men, athlete or not, they are not in as good of shape at 31 compared to when they were 24. It's not just about that but his bat. Man that went to hell quick.
  22. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Hahn says they would have to get creative to increase payrolll but hints at future flexibility. Danks and LaRoche come off the books. So that helps.
  23. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/colum...nders/77427216/ Nightengale is fired up
  24. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Glad they didn't give up something major. Will this be the third veteran NL player that can't get it done in the AL? This is my worry. At least he can play the field. It didn't cost us Q. Great trade. I was actually just watching clips of Adam Dunn in 2004 when he was with the Reds. Man was he thin....what the hell happened?
  25. Rick Hahn is on ESPN 1000 right now http://espn.go.com/espnradio/chicago/play
