QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) That was my first thought. They're definitely not done. Something else is coming and rather quickly I'd imagine. This isnt the only power they are going to add. Let's not forget that Rick Hahn did say they were speaking to some free agents with qualifying offers. He didnt sound opposed to using the Shark pick at all for the right player.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:51 PM) Did say he believes he's coming to play third, but would be open to something else. Which that would leave the door open for Frazier though I doubt they do that now. Rick Hahn told him that he's going to get a chance to play 3rd base everyday. But he made it sound open ended...so maybe...Frazier

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Not a Cub fan but Lawrie had a 0.6 WAR last year. This is nothing more than a stop gap move. If people think he's the long term answer at 3rd, he's not. I use Baseball Reference for position players

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Play by play for us? Sure He had a great time in Oakland. Thanked the fans and apologized for not doing better. Said he knows Melky and Navarro. He's really excited to play with Abreu,Eaton and the great pitching staff. Used to be traded. Just gotta have a positive mindset. He loves hard working teammates and wants to help this team win a championship.

Love Cubs fans crapping on this move because he's a less good version of AJ as one person called him. But they just signed a 35 year old for nearly 60 million who's overall value was actually lower than Brett's.

Brett Lawrie will be on XM Radio MLB Channel in a few minutes

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) As a fellow overly tattooed scumbag, I approve of this addition. I could never do those full sleeve tattoos. But they do look awesome.

Just a little worrying playing the Royals more this year for him. They are I'm sure are going to try some stupid s*** and throw at him. Last thing we need is him getting injured.

I like that Eaton is just as impatient as us lol

Susan Slusser @susanslusser 8s8 seconds ago Lawrie deal sounds done. Susan Slusser @susanslusser 11s11 seconds ago Sounds as if #Athletics will announce Lawrie to #WhiteSox soon. https://twitter.com/susanslusser

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien 20s21 seconds ago Hahn to Sox fans: "I’m as impatient as any @Whatever may be on Twitter so I get it, but we're not going to do anything to calm the masses." Frankly to leave the Winter meetings with the infield questions still in a complete toss up is a little disappointing. Expected...but disappointing nonetheless

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) KW is the Executive Vice President, he is in charge. What about Kenny screams out to you that he isnt trying to call shots or at the very least have a voice in whats going on? He is constantly in the media spouting off like he is very much involved. Where did I say he wasnt involved or doesnt have a voice? My original point had nothing to do with that.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) KW clearly has a lot of say on whats being done and discussed behind the scenes. Just as Theo does with the Cubs. If KW we're in charge I'm willing to bet there would have been a bigger splash than Lawrie. It's Hahn's show. He needs to fix his mess from last year. Hey if he wants to keep up the mantra "we're working" great. But the results better be worth it this year especially.
-
Still amazes me that some people view Rick Hahn as like the poor puppet in this situation with almost zero power. While Emperor Kenny Williams is manipulating him behind the scenes to do evil acts.
-
I can just see it now...miss out on Lawrie...then sign Cabrera to play 3rd
-
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) Oakland is probably just waiting for us to fold to their demands. If it's too much (and it must be if Hahn isn't agreeing) then as Lord Humungous says, just walk away You can run! But you cant hide!

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 11:24 AM) Kenny williams gives zero f***s about prospects. If he wants someone he will burn it all down for them. Do you just keep repeating this until it sticks into our heads like "his name is Robert Paulson" ?
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) Even if we're rebuilding that sounds awful I wasnt being serious just FYI A fan from the stands playing 3rd base would be a better option. But seriously some people could make signing Mike Trout sound like a bad idea on here. I swear the amount of negativity must be a gift for some. I bet some people here would be happy with a complete teardown that results in none of the prospects actually working out just so we could stink for the next 20 years.

Meh I say like Mike Olt play it out at 3rd

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 06:43 AM) If the Sox get lawrie then the sox/Royals games should be fun this year. http://www.si.com/mlb/2015/04/19/brett-law...fight-ejections Yeah Herrera telling him he's going to aim for his head next time he sees him...that was classy...god I hate the Royals *edit* Somebody should have told that 6 year old to stay back! She didnt know how unstable Lawrie is....

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2015 -> 12:21 AM) As long as he's not violent or dangerous to others, I couldn't care less how big of a douche the guy is if he can play. The supposed king of all douche's was a huge part of 05. Ventura hit him last year and Herrera tried to hit him. Didn't go after either of them.
