White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner
Baron replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) Why does the Rangers piece matter? Well they were close to trading for a catcher earlier today which was supposed to be a smaller piece that could affect this type of transaction(tender/nontender). http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/rang...up-catcher.html -

QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Ugh, what? He has posted a 2.6 WAR or higher the last 4 seasons, with 2 being higher than 4 WAR. In addition, he rates pretty highly defensively. 6th best defensive score, 6th best UZR, 7th best UZR/150, and 7th best DRS among 3B. Thank you...I was just about to say something about that "sub par" bat. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) Genuinely surprised he didn't go to the Cubs. They didnt even extend him an offer -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 04:30 PM) They've been conditioned to think that everyone thinks like they do and that the Cubs are the bestest everzzzz!!! Money talks, Price wasn't coming to the Cubs for a discount to play for Madden or for the "glory" of helping the Cubs win. That's the part I think some of them were counting on....or atleast that they would make more of an effort for Price In other news. With Greinke signing soon with the Dodgers or Giants....the bidding war for Shark will start. -

The most interesting thing to come out of this was the Cardinals were the runners up. -

Honestly though the amount of surprised people on Twitter over this deal is hilarious. Especially by Cubs fans. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 06:25 PM) if there was someone worth the money for 3b.... rollins... going cheap... i will wait and see on that. Well with those two you get what you pay for. Mediocre-Bad baseball.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 06:07 PM) Basically. I'm cool with either. I think Frazier can plug into the 4-hole while I'm not sure where they'd start Lawrie at. I'm just hoping they are exploring every avenue to try and acquire Frazier first. He's worth considering giving up some good prospects for.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 05:42 PM) Todd Frazier is just what the Sox need- a low-mid batting average, power hitter from the NL They certainly dont need that 3.4 offensive WAR.
-
Honestly that's not a bad deal for a guy like Zimmerman. It's just Detroit has too much junk on their payroll that really dampens this signing.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) I'm not so sure. I just think that if Sox go after and sign a big time free agent, they'll regret it, and so will we. Sox have two primo prospects that should be ready in either late 2016 or opening day, 2017. A couple other prospects should emerge next year, too. Plus, if Sox draft well again next year, it will help big time. My other thought is to trade Q for 3-4 really good (Boston) prospects, and by 2018 we will have a young, exciting team to pull for. Maybe 2017. Either way, unless some miracle occurs, 2016 figures to be a repeat of 2015, regardless of what they do. If they have money to burn, spend it some Cuban prospects. There's some talented players on this team that you just cant afford to waist any time with. If you do then trade them. Trade Abreu,Sale,Q and whoever else. In my opinion if you cant build a team with those guys to atleast be competitive on a regular basis that just shows the incompetence of that front office. Plus if that was the plan Robin should have quit. Standing pat would only be more fuel to the fire.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 29, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) Interesting. Wonder what direction they're going in. I'm guessing adding payroll. I think that's almost certainly the case. Out of all the options adding and continuing to build makes the most sense. Standing pat made the least sense.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 28, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 2m2 minutes ago #Tigers in discussions with Jordan Zimmermann, sources tell @ken_rosenthal and me, with multiple people saying talks have become serious. Bring it. Well that's a little unexpected

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 26, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) It is amazing how many people think Robin Ventura knows so much less about Major League Baseball than people who have never been in a clubhouse. Nice assumption there. I'll answer the previous question though. I dont think he handled Zach Duke,Adam LaRoche and Tyler Flowers correctly regarding to matchups.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 09:10 PM) Former All-Star and Silver Slugger in '11. But let's b**** and complain. Ya never know man hope he bounces back. At 2.5 mil if you're b****ing you just need to step back and wait for more moves. This isn't a bad signing. 2011 was 4 years ago.He had a few little life signs last year but not alot. We had a better backup catcher last year who got signed for a few hundred thousand more than he got. Plus your going to have to be smart about platooning these two guys. That's great...we got Robin though. I just see alot of bad matchups with pitchers and plenty of missed opportunities. If there was someone else managing I would be fine with it. But we dont.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 11:56 AM) His problem has been injury, for quite some time. I think if you could squeeze a miraculous (somewhat) healthy season out of him, you would get good results That's fine. I just have a hard time believing that Robin is going to put these guys in position to maximize value. Especially when he has yet to do that in his tenure here.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) Comerica is one of the worst ballparks for offense in baseball. You really think he's going to drop off from moving from a bad hitter's park to what has traditionally been a great hitter's park? Come on, it's not like he's coming from Coors. Well the problem is he wasnt hitting well in Comerica either. Just that it wasnt nearly as blackholeish as everywhere else. Let's keep this in mind to...do you really think Robin is going to put either of them in position to fully maximize their value? That's the main problem I have with a platoon.

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) He's a part time catcher. It's not a bad signing or something to have a strong opinion on. This place is a f***ing joke anymore. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Your right...this place is certainly not a joke anymore It's not the end of the world. His batting splits have some pretty awful signs in it though.
-
Unfortunately I think they got worse at this position. Here's the thing. Who gives a s*** if he's a pro? He couldnt hit away from Detriot last year especially at the Cell.
-
Well his away splits are terrible

sounds like #Marlins and #Mariners could be aiming to complete a larger deal than simply Ozuna for a starting pitcher. https://twitter.com/JoeFrisaro/status/669364744013369344 Maybe Paxton is involved
