QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) How so, it's not like they couldn't have changed their mind on the 3 year length if they wanted to. Quite frankly, I don't think they trusted any of these 3 outfielders on a lengthy deal. I think they could have. They don't need to trust them. They just won't win as many games.

They played the market wrong and got caught. They'll pay for it at the deadline is they are even close enough to a playoff spot.

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) It was posted and then deleted Yeah by a fake Ken Rosenthal

Oh that ninja delete

Technically the offseason would be a disappointment. We would still be sitting in the middle. We would still have an outfield that sacrificed about 30 runs last year. You want to let Avi struggle out there fine. Just dont blow smoke and tell me your trying to compete while he's out there dropping baseballs.

We could make a book with all the pages/comments on here

Gentlemen...it's 11 in the morning and I need a drink

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) Why would the Nats offer Upton only 3 years, but offer Cespedes more? Putting 2 and 2 together, there seems to be a lot of BS going on. Exactly...that doesnt sound right
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) If Cespedes signs elsewhere, how quickly to Fowler and Jackson sign? I would imagine pretty quickly, and one should end up with the Sox. Why? We're all set in the OF.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) In all honesty, Hahn's job should be on the line this season It absolutely should be

Seems like they are the only ones who have made an offer so far
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) If he signs with the Nats, which fanbase will react worse, Sox or Mets? Mets easily
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) I think the really depressing part of it is the fact that from the start the Sox were widely considered to be one of the favorites to land one of the big 3. The fans put a lot of stock in that and followed these stories extremely closely just to wind up with none of them in the end. It may wind up being a HUGE PR hit on the Sox whether its warranted or not. It'll be warranted if they continue to sit on their hands until the season starts. This looks like a half finished product and will probably perform like one.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) Which, while true, is silly. The meatheads will be out in full force embarrassing themselves. I'm going to Soxfest. I hope it doesn't turn into what it could turn into. I am not an autograph guy, I just go to the seminars. I really enjoyed all the fluff last year. Its the time of year you really could use some. All the idiots who complain about not being able to sit right behind the dugout after purchasing a $5 upper deck seat calling people cheap is a trip. Yep agreed. Look if they dont upgrade they deserve every little bit of criticism that comes there way. Just you cant count on meatheads to only use words or to be calm.
-
Seriously if they dont sign him...maybe Rick Hahn and Robin should stay away from Soxfest for their own safety. They are going to get absolutely crucified by fans there.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) When about 95 percent of the teams are reluctant to give a player a long term deal, there is probably a reason for it. Ok let's not go too overboard with the hyperbole here.
-
QUOTE (peavy44 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) Nats made a offer to cespedes I bet its in the 5 year range. Thank you captain useless info. You may resume your regular duties of being negative nancy.

Please let this end soon.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Yea those 6.5 WAR players suck. When do we go after the 8+ WAR guys ? We have Avi Garcia...why would we need a guy like Mike Trout?
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 05:00 PM) I didn't say it, so I can't elaborate. It is ambiguous though. Nor do the Sox beats or the Angels. Exactly...like I was saying...if you listened to any of the beat writers this offseason especially for us you would think we didnt have a chance to sign/trade for anybody.
-
Most of the Mets beat writers dont expect it to be them that's for sure.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 04:19 PM) Brian Bilek @ChiSoxraBBit 25s25 seconds ago Well I heard back from someone regarding Cespedes and the #WhiteSox are definitely still working on signing him. (1/2) Brian Bilek @ChiSoxraBBit 14s On Cespedes "Talks this week have been dramatic and the terms have been very creative. As of now, options still a sticking point." #WhiteSox

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) My birthday is Friday. Hope I get this as an early gift Happy early Birthday!

Dont know if this has been posted. Adam Rubin @AdamRubinESPN 1h1 hour ago Autotweet. Not my headline. Not my article. I'll stick with unlikely if the thesis is the Mets need to give five years and two opt-outs. https://twitter.com/AdamRubinESPN He was referring to that Mets article from ESPN that was posted on here earlier just fyi.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) If the Sox do sign Cespedes, I want it to be in the next ~25 minutes so my friend and I can celebrate in study hall together. Ah Study Hall...the best part of High School. Good times.
