QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 06:34 PM) Can't start Nieto two games in a row because actually putting the ball in play some how and getting on base a couple times a game is frowned upon in this line up.. Striking out is the only way to go.. We went through this last year too...they arent going to make a change unless Flower's shows zero signs of life in quite a few games.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) We told him to use something besides "password" for his password. Or 12345...that's the same combination on my luggage

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 04:22 PM) I don't get it. Am I supposed to keep waiting for 10-game winning streak? Ain't happening, and I've been pretty optimistic all season. Now it's time to get Rodon signed, get some international players in the fold, and make some trades to get better for the future. No one said anything about a 10 game winning streak. But its not surprising to see you get excited about losing. Good news is you arent the only one.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) I think for the first time today, I'm looking forward to the trade deadline and what they can hopefully get done. Now there's a surprise

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:59 PM) Matters what they think of Semien at SS, but if this team falls back by the deadline, he is far and away their best trade chip. If you can get someone like Glasnow and more, you have to consider it. Only problem with that is it may push your clock back. Glasnow is in high A right now.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:58 PM) I'm telling you that Flowers has been better than the player you wanted to sign for a bunch of money. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/saltaja01.shtml 2013 was Saltalamacchia's highest WAR season at 2.9. I just don't see the value in essentially buying high here. I also think it's silly to assume that in 3 years this team will have developed a catcher, because I don't see it in this org as we speak. So why pay for a guy on the wrong side of 30 when it's not guaranteed his replacement is there in 3 years as you argue. Take the savings you're getting (from a guy playing better according to WAR) and use those dollars elsewhere? When did I guarantee a replacement? Boy you like putting words in my mouth dont you? I said its time to find one. That's the one thing your getting is time. Right now you have no replacement and no time. Flower's is on a 1 year contract and you have absolutely no depth. The free agent market looks horrible for this position. Now what?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) Alexei makes way too much sense for them Trade Alexei for what and why?
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) Saltalamacchia 2014 WAR right now: 0.0 Flowers 2014 WAR right now: 1.2 You're making me argue for Tyler Flowers. How is this possible? I dont know how about you tell me? If you actually believe that then I dont know what to tell you.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:48 PM) flowers for that money is way smarter than saltalamacchia for his money. Flowers + scrambling for another catcher or Salty +3 years of time to find one that you dont have is alot smarter. Plus 3 years at 7 million per is not bad by any stretch. Fathom's explanation makes more sense.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) Cool. I suppose I should have posted that when I asked you to name names. Regardless, I'm not really sure why Miami would all of a sudden be willing to deal a catcher they signed last off season for "a player" when you consider they know the market for catching is complete s***. Look, I think Flowers sucks too. But Salty doesn't solve all your problems, never mind his age. All Salty costs was money. Fills a position for 3 years giving you time to find a long term solution. Now your essentially rushed to find a solution. Hahn hasnt made many mistakes but not finding a replacement for AJ was definitely one.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:44 PM) He is going to be a monster. That Pirates OF is just amazing.

Gregory Polanco is having a nice day. 4 hits.

Nice at bat Tyler...what is he now 3 for 41?

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:35 PM) Ehh. I just don't think this years team is something that is one player away. Right because I clearly said that
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Start naming names. Jarrod Saltalamacchia right off the bat. Now what's going to happen is its going to cost us players to acquire one. Look at the free agent class next year.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) There was almost no catching out there. No reason to overpay There is a reason now

Mark Appel is getting destroyed in A ball
-
What the heck was Hahn thinking by not giving us veteran insurance behind Flowers? Especially this year. I know he thought his shoulder was part of the problem(apparently his track record didnt mean anything). But last year was a huge red flag.
-
That was a bad at bat by Gordon
-
clearly it was his bad shoulder that has been making him strike out...right Hahn?
-
Nice at bat Flowers...show off that bat speed
-
Those last few balls were close pitches

QUOTE (BaconOnAStick @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 07:47 PM) Yep, here at Soxtalk we love being right about losing. Now let's have another thread about trading our core players. Its funny because 20 years of constant rebuild would probably make some people happy on here

God Damn Adam...get off the team for the love of god

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 07:26 PM) Losing got us us Rodon. Those people were right. That remains to be seen
