Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 2m Free agent Jhonny Peralta closing in on a deal with #STLcards, source confirms. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick
-
QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:29 PM) Prince Fielder is 29 years old. If he were a free agent this year, he may demand as much as Robinson Cano. Getting him for 7/138 is a steal. -- Jeff Passan That may be the dumbest thing I've read today
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) That would make Prince's contract much more reasonable. Would take it from $24M a year down to a little over $18M. That's more realistic, albeit still a lot. Its 30 million
-
The more you look at this deal the more I realize that Detroit got away with highway robbery.Still cant believe Fielder is getting 24 million for the next 7 years.
-
http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/texas-rangers/team-payroll/2014/ The Rangers in 2014 have over 100 million in payroll just for 13 players
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) Choo and Rios both have their best position as RF. Yep and I think giving McCann 100 million would be a mistake
-
Some say the Rangers are going to still pursue McCann and Choo
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:57 PM) In his defense that's a lot of weight to pull. It really is
-
Well Rick Hahn was right....whether he was talking about the trade market with us or around the league it is indeed heating up
-
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Dealing the most expensive of their too many middle infielders and getting what should be a huge upgrade at first base. Their first basemen put up a .700 OPS last year. Looks like a smart deal for both sides. I like the idea of giving Profar more time....do not like the idea of swapping Kinsler for Fielder depending on the money going back and forth.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) Kinsler is a horrible player at this point, and he's not cheap either. Prince isnt exactly pulling his weight either
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) I hope Fielder vetoes it...if the Tigers aren't sending money to Texas, this is a huge coup for them I honestly dont know what the Texas Rangers are doing
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) Aaaaannnnnndddd Josh Johnson to San Diego for 1/8M Yeah there is a big surprise...Josh Johnson wants to rebuild his value quickly. Apparently we were interested in him as well. Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick 12m #Astros and #whitesox were among other teams that expressed interest in Josh Johnson before he signed with #padres. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:51 PM) Give me three guys currently on the 40-man, that played for the Sox this year, that will be on a different roster in 23 days. I have Hector going for sure....maybe De Aza and Alexei/Beckham
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 06:41 PM) Get us a bona fide catcher! Yes please
-
As far as a backup depending on if he is healthy I think I would go with Flowers....and it pains me to say that because I honestly dont want to watch him play anymore. Either a trade or a free agent singing we need to get someone new in here. Cant go into next season with those two rotating at catcher again. The Ruiz contract however probably boosted Salty's market value a little bit. He still is though my number 1 option.
-
QUOTE (dayan024 @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 06:52 PM) Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 11m red sox make 2-year offer to salty, but they're not close & in on ruiz, pierzynski and mccann, too. article Sign him up

4 years 70 million with the White Sox? I may throw up
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) So...as I said, someone like AJP, perhaps not so-named, would be perfect Funny enough...that was basically what I was asking for last year too
-
http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...r-catching-plan Basically stating that the White Sox could bring in a vet on a short term contract(1-2 year deal) and platoon with one of the catchers on our roster. Opens up a few possibilities.

Asked Dan Hayes about Salty and Ruiz https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN Would put interest in Saltalamacchia as lukewarm. Not sure on Ruiz.
-
QUOTE (dayan024 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 05:31 PM) Andy Martino @MartinoNYDN 1m #WhiteSox seen as possible #Mets competition for Granderson, but told they are very unlikely as serious bidders for him. Thank you
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Right. So was SS2k5's reference to a $10m/yr 36 year old catcher as a non-option something that wouldn't fall under what Hahn said? No idea
-
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) I don't know, in the interview it sounded like he was trying to set expectations so that fans wouldn't be disappointed. Plus, it makes sense. He could be lying, I guess, but I wouldn't consider it safe to assume the opposite. There doesn't appear to be any reason to question the assertion. For a major Free Agent signing? I wouldnt expect a 90 million signing like Choo. It all depends on what he feels is major which is why its a broad statement.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Except when you crunch the numbers and look at where the team is at now, it actually makes more sense than overpaying for second or third tier free agents. Thus proving my original point is correct
