QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) I was wondering if anyone else was left watching. He supposed to weigh what? 240? My goodness he has wheels.

Hector really likes throwing that screwball right in the hitters wheel house

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 10:57 PM) Ding ding ding. I want Abreu, but let's stop throwing around crazy numbers. I think 80 is pushing it but 70 is right around what I think he'll command.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) He just doesn't look comfortable at all. His swing has been very choppy. Yep...not sure what needs to happen at this point

QUOTE (Tannerfan @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) So the new guy sucks as much as the old guy. Huh?

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 10:42 PM) Just seen that Jose Dariel has been able to escape Cuba, if that is true maybe all this money Hahn just saved can go toward him and locking up Quintana and Santiago, followed by Beckham and maybe Reed. Look at the Puig deal and start adding to that total amount for Abreu speaking of him there is a great article that kind of takes you into the world of Cuban baseball http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/760160...e-weapon-planet

Does it frustrate any of you guys who see other teams fans who think that Kenny Williams is still the GM? It may just be me...

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) No. 45: Shortstop Jose Iglesias: Law calls the 21-year-old Iglesias the best defensive shortstop prospect he has ever seen. “He's not the fastest or most athletic,” writes Law, “but he's the one most able to make plays and to take difficult plays and make them look routine.” More from Law, on Iglesas’ offensive potential: “Iglesias' swing is direct with good bat speed, and he has a little pop when he gets his arms extended, although in Fenway that probably will mean lots of doubles off the Monster but few home runs. He needs to avoid barring his lead arm, and so far he hasn't shown much patience although he has shown he can make a lot of contact. If he can draw 50 walks a year or hit .300 regularly, he's an All-Star, and if not, he's still an above-average regular because of the potential value of his defense.” http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/pos...p-100-prospects ***from 2011, BTW Yeah he sure as hell cant hit .300 regularly

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Do we know for sure that we are getting this Leury Garcia dude as the ptbnl ?? Yes unless you want to wait for the official release.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) I think you just ruined everyone's day (besides Greg) There is a limit to spending on international players unless you have us giving out a monster contract like the Phillies did.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) So, does Chris Sale sucks? Heck, he doesn't have a winning record! Why should we get anything? Actually someone used that as a reason when explaining why they wouldnt trade a top prospect for Sale to me. As for this trade fine I guess. As long as we can throw Greg in the deal.
-
Surprised they dont want to give up Odor? Some expect him in the majors at 20. The kid is just flat out good. Jackson on the other hand is the surprising one.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) JIM BOWDEN @JimBowdenESPNxm 1m White Sox are not getting Perez, Jackson or Odor for Rios but if price drops to Nick Martinez it could get done...tick tick tick tock Expand If thats true then keep him for the rest of the year

Garcia just gunned down Josh Fields at the plate

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 06:07 PM) Obviously. But the Rangers aren't "blocked" next year. They are just going to have to spread that money out more or trade away cap space if they want. They can trade for slots or just wait until the year after next to have the full value.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) No it doesn't. It doesn't block signings. It limits the amount a team can offer to an international prospect to either $500,000 or $250,000 depending on how much they went over their pool. And it has nothing to do with the amount of signings the Rangers made, but the amount they spent. The amount they signed was directly tied with the money they spent. You know why? They signed top players in the free agent pool. Thats a serious reduction in what the can spend because it probably wont be a top 20 player for that price.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) What kind of prospect do you think would be the Sox minimum price to let Rios go? I think a high upside guy like Luke Jackson is probably their minimum.
-
QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) Hahn recently said it could be used in the international market, we'll need it for next year's draft top five pick, it could be used to facilitate trades, all of which are better uses than veteran free agents on the downsides of their careers. Going over the cap for international signings like the Rangers did this year(signing multiple free agents) means your blocked the next year.
