  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) I guess I just don't see the team as a piece or two away. The pitching will regress, too. While the hitting/defense shouldn't be THIS bad, the pitching shouldn't be THIS good. We've gotten a ton out of Axelrod, for example. And you still don't have anyone that can get on base. I think Konerko retires. You've still got a lot of money tied up in Dunn that you can't re-allocate, an Rios too if we keep him. If we had $40-50m to add to payroll, I'd agree, but I guess we just don't agree on what this group is capable of. Also, I'm not talking about tearing it down completely, I'm just talking about punting 2014. All that good pitching will still be here in 2015, with the exception of Peavy (who could still be here but I'd like to trade as well). I think that Rios' return would have more 2015 value than Rios, AND you get to reallocate his salary. Assumption and no one ever said this team was a piece or two away.
  2. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 9, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) Im not saying we are competent. I'm saying I fully expect the goal will be to get competent. Trading Rios fir a middle level prospect will shock me in that regard. Agreed....I think a mid level plus another low A ball prospect is all we can expect. If that ends up being the case I hope he stays.
  3. and thats why the Cubs are where they are right now
  4. If Lindstrom could pitch well infront of all these scouts...that would be great
  5. With the junk Hector was throwing it was only a matter of time before that happened
  6. So much better than watching Flowers already
  7. Speaking of the Pirates they have a scout here and its not for pitching
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) How about we don't have him throw 123 pitches in a game? Hey man I'm not advocating for any of that.
  9. Only a matter of time before Hector gets blown up here. Looks awful.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) I missed the top of the 2nd, what was the issue with Santiago/Phegley? Hector wasnt paying attention and could have picked off Soriano. But instead he threw it for a strike and Josh didnt make a throw. No point.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) I agree, I don't mind if Rios sticks around. However, when you start hearing scouts echo what many of us have said on here about the lack of hustle by players on this team, it gets frustrating. That'll be taken care of when this season ends.
  12. Personally I dont care if they hang on to Rios. Teams dont give you what you want then screw them.
  13. Looks like Hector doesnt feel like throwing strikes
  14. Ahhh people on 670 the Score Facebook Page....clearly dont have any clue what a full rebuild is.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) I'd say the likelihood of Rios getting traded is falling precipitously. I don't think we want to give him away and that is looking like what we'll have to do unless he catches fire in a hurry. Fine with me
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 07:03 PM) Headed towards being in the bottom 5 in ERA, WHIP and BAA He was going to come completely unraveled at some point. His stuff is AAA level.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:55 PM) Please question mine. A rookie 5th starter with an era around 5? Actually...not all that bad. With average to below average pitches....yep sounds like rotation material
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) Coming up to a 5 ERA. Hopefully he's not in the long term plans of this organization. I question anybody's sanity if they look at Axelrod and see the future
