  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) Kolten Wong in the lineup for Memphis tonight. No surprise there
  3. This is just one of the ideas by a Cards fan being thrown out there Wong, Jenkins, and Piscotty/Ramsey trade
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) What about the fact that Garza is a much better pitcher and not so prone to breaking down? How about he's off the books after this year?
  5. Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 20s Crain will throw off a mound today, says he could pitch in big league game as early as Sunday. Expand https://twitter.com/MDGonzales
  6. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:31 PM) All signs point to Wong, at least for me. He is a top 50 prospect so he is not chopped liver. I've got a lot of names that could also be included but it impossible to list all of them. I have even gone as far to think that Freese might be included but I don't really think so. Here are some of the names that I think are possible: Lyons, Cooney, Whiting, Fornataro, Valera, Ramsay, Piscotty, Wisdon, Tilson, Blair, Swaggerty, and Cody Jones. I have no problem with Wong. It just irritates me when other fans think that this is a rental situation and their teams have leverage to low ball us that we'll ultimately accept. Its not the case at all. I'll actually be pretty happy if we keep Jake. The price should be as high as the Garza trade and for good reason
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 03:28 PM) Yes, and don't forget he can still be traded in December. Exactly....the only problem for us is a year away when the 2014 trade deadline comes around. There is a whole lot of moves that need to be made until then. We may not be sellers at that point who knows.
  8. Hell I had a Cardinals fan tell me they wouldnt give up even Wong for Peavy and we should prepare to be gravely disappointed in the return for Peavy. That talk just makes me laugh. If we arent getting the value we want for Peavy then keep him. We have the leverage here.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:17 PM) Apparently the A's made a late push for Garza. Maybe they would be interested in Peavy. Any interesting prospects they have? Well they could have made the late push to get Texas to surrender more in that trade
  10. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Just a gut feeling prediction I have on how it will play out. It has nothing to do with should or should 't. That was more directed toward DirtySox
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:38 PM) Since when is Addison Reed the source on who the Sox will trade? Does he know Trade Winds has a thread about him? Hell when players start coming out and saying a guy is probably going to get traded....thatll set off the smoke alarms.
  12. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) Story on the way soon? Im interested http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/sox-drawer/...ong-possibility
  13. QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) I don't know what this means or if it means anything but the Cardinals promoted a 2B late today to AAA Memphis. His name is Luis Mateo. In addition, Kolten Wong, who is always in the lineup, is not playing tonight. I can asure you that Wong is not coming to STL with the year Carpenter is having. This is just a little strange. Since I am a Cardinals fan hanging on this board, I just thought you folks would appreciate the heads up. Thanks for the info...definitely interesting but I dont think anything will materialize
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Too bad we can trade posters who are still complaining about losses for some prospect posters. All depends on the value we get back for some of them
  15. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien 7m Addison Reed on the White Sox trading Jake Peavy: "It's probably going to happen." Story on Peavy and Rios on the way soon... Details https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) And if they don't get the right deal, you are damned right he should be back. Yeah I didnt understand that post either....what should Rick do? Take whatever they offer him and say o well?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Yep, you have to worry Rangers are only team really willing to go "all in" this deadline. By the sound of it, no other teams were really in on Garza. As you and I agree on, it's absolutely ok if you don't trade Rios and Peavy at the deadline. No other teams were willing to give up that much for a rental is what it really is. As Heyman said this morning...more teams like the extra year than the rental player
  18. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) You would think/hope so, but I'm afraid he won't.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:29 PM) Thanks its two PTBNL....great deal for the Cubs
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Cheaper monetarily but they gave up a player month for him if they make the post season because of him. If not it's even more. Huge over pay. Yes envious that it couldn't be Peavy. I really think its a fair deal for both sides. As for Heyman he was talking about the contracts.
  21. For Peavy you get the best of both worlds....an extra year and the option of extending him a quali offer after as Heyman pointed out.
  22. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 04:52 PM) I'd like to know He said GM's actually like Peavy's deal more because of the extra year. This was surprising to him because he said he would rather go after the cheaper rental. He said Alex Rios is actually very well thought of around the league and one blip on the radar isnt going to affect him. He said Crain needs to pitch before somebody probably makes an offer for him.
  23. Anyone catch Heyman's interview this morning? I caught it just in time if you want me to break it down.
  24. CJ Edwards was my favorite prospect in the Rangers minors...very good get by the Cubs and also adding Grimm
