QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 9, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) Hearing he was loved in the clubhouse is surprising. Im not surprised that was a total sham.

Blogger Call: Open Discussion with Rick Hahn

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 1, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) One thing I love about this organization is the amount of respect they give the fans. The fact he took time to answer some fan questions is really cool. The fact that they lowered prices on tix/parking is super cool too. I truly love being a fan of this organization and would love to see them bring home (at least) one more for J.R.! On a side note- it seems like they are looking hard for a new 3b. This is awesome! My biggest fear was for them to take another chance with Morel or a cheap flash in the pan type option. I really hope they do look into young talent like Chase Headley. But if the return price is too high, I wouldn't mind them bringing back Youk at the right price. I just have a feeling that Hahn will pull off some blockbuster soon in regards to addressing the 3b spot. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the following dealt at this point in a mega deal (Ramirez, Beckham, Viciedo, Floyd or Rios) In the ESPN article it sounds like Rick Hahn doesnt seem optimistic that they will find an upgrade at 3rd base. Given that the market is so poor. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) There have been reports that he did not particularly care for being in Chicago nor did the team particularly care for him being here. You say all the right things in the public eye but I too do not believe there is a lot of mutual interest in renewing their relationship. It doesn't mean both parties won't explore it. I'd put Youkilis coming back to the Sox at about 10%. I see....Ill hold judgement I hear something definitive on that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) I think Youk has zero interest in staying with the Chicago White Sox. I have seen nothing to suggest that

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) That ought to be great for his back! Yeah I think at this point we can chalk him up as a lost cause.
-
I think in the end after the front office explores other options we will resign Youk to a 1-2 year deal.
-
The question I have is how the hell did Mike Trout not win over Jones?
-
I think we resign Youk soon...but thats just me

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 06:15 PM) Nah. Yeah I dont see it either

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) What do you mean? Thats the first time I've said anything even remotely close to what I just said Right if you dont count the last few months you would be correct.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) I don't mean to rain on this parade, but I'm going to right now: feel free to ignore me The Choke-ago White Sox left a bad taste in my mouth by choking in the last 3 weeks of the regular season. Bringing back the same guys who contributed to that choke does not fill me with a bunch of confidence. Now I realize the choke was not really the fault of the pitching staff but...I will save my happiness until I see some good moves being made with the offense, and by that I mean bringing in some new blood and not just resigning the same old guys who choked. flame shields activated Thank you for providing the same rhetoric you have been spewing on here for a while now.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) I'm so glad this family is not part of the Sox organization anymore Oney Guillen @Oneyguillen wow. awful signing. awful. god bless that money. but wow That family has plenty of time to comment on these deals now that they are unemployed.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) keithlaw @keithlaw Hell yes. RT @bill_virgl: @keithlaw 29 x 2 for Peavy.. Would you have done that? Seems like a lot given his age and injury history There is something you dont see everyday
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 05:50 PM) Scot Gregor @scotgregor With Youkilis' option declined, White Sox could give Carlos Sanchez a look at 3B. He's batting .244 with 0 HR/10 RBI in Arizona Fall League No thanks!

if Jake would have hit the free agent market we wouldnt have gotten him back. Someone would have really overpaid for him after Zack decides where he wants to go.
-
I think Youk is next in line

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 05:09 PM) Sale-Peavy-Danks-Floyd-Q Dirty. Just dirty. Santiago-Axelrod not bad as depth, either. Yeah thats just nasty Glad your staying Peavy!

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 02:09 PM) It is definitely a question mark, as all young players like him are. No such thing as a sure-fire prospect. But... he hasn't even had a chance to BE consistent in the majors yet, because he hasn't played regularly. His minor league track record shows a guy who hit .261/.390/.500 in AAA in 2011, his last year in the minors, for an .890 OPS. And even this season, with very limited playing time, he put up a .708 OPS that is only a smidge below what AJ typically gives you. I just think, assuming the team has some money restrictions, the $7M or so difference isn't worth the zero to 100 OPS points (probably on the lower end of that range, and with poorer defense) that AJ gives you, and could be better-used at 3B or on starting pitching. If the team has money restrictions then I have no problem with this proposal. My priorities would completely change then.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 30, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) Serious question... how big a hole is that in your lineup, really? In AJ's Sox years, his OPS was in a range from .688 to .769, until his breakout 2012 season. Given his age and just plain regression to the mean, it seems likely (not set in stone) that he will be back in that range again. And he doesn't bring any speed to the offense, nor any ability for small ball to speak of. He is a smart baserunner, but that only adds so much value. If Flowers hits, say, .240... and draws walks at his AAA pace (about .100 Iso)... and hits 20 home runs to help his SLG, which seems like a reasonable number for him... he's going to have an OPS in the high .700's. Even if he falls a bit below that, that's low to mid .700's, and pretty much in line with what AJ gives you in almost any season. But Flower is younger, has shown he is a better defender and better baserunning controller. And oh by the way would cost about half a million for the next few years, as opposed to $6-$8M a year for AJ. I love AJ, he's been great here, but I honestly have changed my mind on this - I think the team is better served with Flowers in there. Get a LH hitting backup C on the FA market who doesn't completely suck, if you can. If not, Phegley. I think you end up with an overall comparable offensive player with better defense, for a lot less money. Thats the problem right there. For me thats a big what if. From what Ive seen from him he has a long way to go offensively. If you have Flowers starting I want him platooned because I think its more likely he gets exposed than him breaking out. The rest is on point though. The problem is he isnt someone we can say for sure we can put up those numbers. If he was more consistent this wouldnt even be a question.
-
I will be really upset if we dont make an attempt to resign him. Tyler Flowers starting everyday scares me. By making that switch you just made a hole in your lineup. Thats not the way to go forward.
