  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:59 PM) Hey, I've loved flavum's post about standings/upcoming schedule all year. Thats great he still said that in a gamethread three weeks ago.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Bad defense, bad at bats may I say more? Well thats cherry picking from alot of good he had this year
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Flavum, season over after Monday night? According to him the season was over three weeks ago
  4. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Ummm no... Well thank you for providing a reason.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:51 PM) We already have an $83 million obligation towards next season. So KW and Hahn need to get creative. I bet Jerry shells out the cash. This pitching staff is going to need a few new members.
  6. I thought AJ was gone for sure 2 years ago before he got resigned. I kinda feel the same way now but hopefully management can get him resigned.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) Can't say that AJ would leave us in bad hands if he left us I dont think I want Flowers starting.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) It would be funny if him and Youk went to the Cubs. It's definitely possible. I think adding those 2 would defeat the purpose of what they are trying to accomplish there.
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) when do we start pulling for the no hitter Why on Earth would you pull for a no hitter?
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:28 PM) Poor Jake, he didn't earn his money with the White Sox. He did get mad a lot, though. I dont feel bad for Peavy at all. He will still get a decent amount of money in free agency.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) Wow Peavy, what a dick. Names off a top 3 for Cy Young, and he doesn't mention his own teammate. He can leave now
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) Thanks for a hell of 2012 Chris Yep was fantastic this year. Cant wait to see what he can give us next year.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) Agreed, he's not doing much to help you win today. Looking more and more like 3 games out after tomorrow is a strong possibility. I dont like being in the middle with the standings. Either win it or end it.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:54 PM) Reasons I think Sox are in better position now than a year ago: - Dunn proved that he didn't forget how to play the game of baseball, meaning his contract wasn't an absolute waste going forward - Manto was able to make Rios into a good player again - Chris Sale proved he can be a very good starter in the majors - Good experience for Reed and Jones (Jones was never even expected to be in the big leagues this year) - Quintana came out of nowhere and gives you hope he can be a 5th starter. Santiago started the year as closer, failed, and then showed some promise as a possible starter - ADA proved he can be a very solid player, and gives us the best all-around leadoff hitter the Sox have had in a long time - Ventura proved he knows how to motivate the players and create a good environment in the clubhouse. The biggest setback was Morel looking like he's not MLB caliber, causing the Sox to have to scramble to find a 3B this year and in the future. Well said
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) Are you fly on the wall in the organization? You never know
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:47 PM) You didn't hear? The Sox will lose Peavy, Floyd, AJ, Youk and Thornton and won't replace them with anyone outside the organization. Hell I think thats the most exciting part
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:44 PM) A lot of people on this board pointed out we still had a lot of veterans and if a lot of things went well, the team would not suck. Look at our rotation entering the season: It added Peavy and had a healthy Danks. Not everybody on soxtalk thought the team would be horrible. I never said everybody
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) Ginger it is not doable. Tampa is gonna win a minimum of 3 this series, though I still think we are going to win the Cleveland series. That's very Sox-like. Once we are out of it, we'll have a very solid series in Cleveland. I think we lose 3 or all 4 to TB then win 2 of 3. Detroit is not going to choke vs. Minnie and KC. Not at this stage. Detroit's fat cats got to loaf most of the season and win it at the end. That's what high-payroll teams do during their down seasons. The problem is next year they might be interested in playing well the first 2-3 months and we could be out of it in June. Our rotation will be Sale, Floyd, Danks, Q and Santiago. Yuk. Does anybody really believe that is the rotation of a .500 team? No way. And who starts before Danks is ready? Omigrosso? We could be out of it after six weeks. What free agent pitchers can we get to replace Peavy? We need 2 of 'em. Seriously ... who are the candidates to join our staff? Don't say Guthrie. He is NO GOOD. Why are you asking me? Go look at the list of pitchers. A few guys would be just fine on that list and there may be some out on the trade market.
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:41 PM) 8th best team in AL is nothing to crow about. When did I say it was?
  20. QUOTE (daggins @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) You could just as easily say this just wasn't our year, with the rookie-heavy bullpen, a rotation of non-horses and key injuries to Danks, Dunn and (possibly) PK. Think of where people had us before the season. I bet half the people on this board wouldnt be posting if this team was playing like they were expected to.
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:36 PM) Nobody missed the point, except for you missing mine. Let me spell it out because you missed it: Our front office doesn't know it's head from it's ass. Moving KW out of his role is a step in the right direction, albeit a very minor, nearly insignificant step. I wasnt having that discussion at all with the previous poster which was the point. Im sorry you think Kenny wont be involved heavily in the moves this offseason. He will be.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) Are you serious? Get a clue. Can you fathom this fact?: We WANT the White Sox to win. Many of us are furious the team has choked (that eighth inning debacle) and has played like a bunch of morons much of the second half. It's one thing getting beaten out by Detroit; it's another going through this bulls***. Our baseball team has given the division to an underachieving Detroit team that will probably bury us by June next year because Detroit probably will play to its potential after a down season. Team has a lot of roster work to do. Losing Peavy will decimate the pitching staff. Q, Humber and Santiago have a lot to prove. Peavy throws meat many times but the loss of his innings pretty much guarantees us to NOT be contenders unless we pick up an innings eater. And Guthrie will not be the answer. We need a good starting pitcher to replace Peavy. Also Youk is likely gone and we have no third baseman. We wasted career years from Rios and AJP who could regress. Sox are in a heap of uncertainty moving forward. THIS WAS OUR YEAR. I acknowledged that yesterday. I actually like the uncertainty.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:27 PM) BECAUSE TWO PLAYOFF APPEARANCES IN 8 YEARS IS SUCCESS. AMIRITE? No but the point was front office's dont react like that thankfully. Otherwise there would be blow ups almost every year. Sorry that you completely missed the point. Fortunately for fans the GM is usually much more calm and collected. You would know this if you read and talk to those people.
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 27, 2012 -> 10:25 PM) No reason to be a dickhead you f***ing n00b, I'm just saving you money on that Brent Morel jersey you were gonna buy. hahaha oh boy.Go have a piece a cake and a cup of coffee. Relax a little.
