  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Of course not but you have given no basis for your dire prediction . You have only part of a season for yours and nothing else. Lets wait and see.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:22 PM) I'm not here trying to make anyone look bad. I just see a pitcher with a bright future . He has to build up his arm and regression is fairly likely since he's in new territory for innings pitched. I expect him to be a fixture in the rotation for many years. I won't say I told you so if he finishes the year doing well if you don't say I told you so if things go the way you predicted. Predicting a Sox to fail and then crowing about it is nothing to brag about. Do you really think I want him to fail?
  3. Im going to be at Wrigley during the trade deadline. Should be interesting.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) I blocked that one rude new guy and it's been great not having to read his posts. Nobody responds to him so I don't have to see his posts in the quote box. As did I greg. Good choice.
  5. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) No one in their right mind is expecting him to do that for a whole season. No one can; that's not the point. He can, however, be a very good pitcher for us this year and for years to come if he locates his pitches the way we've seen he's capable of. Ill eat crow if he does.
  6. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) Not to be too personal, but do you actually see the games on Extra Innings or mlb.tv? No I look up into the sky and ask the birds the score of the game.
  7. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Coming into the game he allowed a homer every 2 starts. He let one player beat him on 2 bad pitches. It does happen in sports. They aren't robots. I don't understand why you think they're supposed to be perfect every night and if their not, then they suck. I never said that at all.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) So he's had how many starts so far 10-12 ? . Pitched 8 shutout innings 3 times without getting a win. I'd say so far an awful lot is going right. He has exhibited very good control and has great mound presence. What does a rookie has to do to impress you ? It's called pitching . Might not have great stuff but did Buerhle / Maddox after 8-10 years in his career ? If you consistently hit your spot you're going to do well. I dont think he can do it for a whole season. If he continues to pitch like he has in the first half you can quote this and put this in your sig. Ill gladly eat crow.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) Sale got crushed on Saturday cause he missed his spots. Most of the time he can get away with that though. Which is why he is so good. He battles through that.
  10. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) I don't want to block, I just want you to know what you're watching every night. Sometimes Big Bang Theory. But tonight it was Hells Kitchen and Master Chef.
  11. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Obviously there's been some luck to it, not a lot of pitchers throw up a 2 ERA, but he also throws strikes consistently, plays behind a very good defense, lets his fielders make plays, and has a really good cutter that he's not afraid to throw inside, as well as some pretty good moxie for a pitcher his age. Anyone who doesn;t know that they're seeing a pretty good young pitcher is nuts. A good defense doesnt mean much if he misses his spots like that. He needs to hit them consistently. He has done that up until this game. Lets not crown him anything yet.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) Holy cow is he terrible. Fix him Manto! Not sure Manto can fix that.
  13. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Then say that it's you're opinion, don't come on every night and say things like, "This is the Quintana we'll see the rest of the year" It's pessimistic, annoying, and uses absolutely no sound logic. I frankly dont care what you think about what Im saying. Block me if you find it annoying.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) I think we found a diamond in the rough and his ERA is likely to be 3.00-4.00 rather 6 the rest of the way. But anything is possible. He's in the same boat as Sale as far as innings pitched goes. See I dont think we found a diamond in the rough. I think to much has to go right for Quintana to pitch as well as he has been. I think he was lucky to be as successful as he has been.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Sure it's possible, he has no track record for us fans to rely on. What Ive been saying is I dont think his 2.30 ERA was sustainable. Sure its all a guess. Thats my guess.
  16. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) You come on here and make these statements every night like they're fact, so I'm just wondering how you come to these conclusions. Well you would be incorrect they arent fact.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Well, let's trade Sale for Maholm then Problem with that is Sale can get away with missing his spots. Quintana cant. There is a difference between the two.
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) So you're saying the rest of the year he will give up 4 or more runs every 6 innings ? Do you think its not possible?
  19. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) What actual evidence can you present as to why this will be the case. You spew out hyperbole all over these game threads every single night. When did I say I have evidence for this?
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Tough to blame a guy that has saved our asses the last two months. He should have three more wins, easy. Who cares about the last 2 months? Thats in the past. The is live.
  21. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) You're really annoying sometimes Your welcome.
  22. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) I see theses posts every time Q gives up more than a run. Did you really think he would keep his 2.3 ERA? Come on guys. This was bound to happen.
