  1. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:51 PM) That is crazy. I used to be a smoker but I barely even smoked 3 cigarettes per day at my peak. Guys who smoke, like, a pack a day...how do they breathe on days like these? It amazes me I have no idea. I ran a pretty healthy 9-10 minute mile and a half. These guys get into the 8s.
  2. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) I feel bad for smokers on days like these. How do they even breathe? When I was in ROTC in college a bunch of the fastest runners were guys who smoked a few packs a day. We normally ran on the hottest days. Pretty crazy
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) I bet a good number of folks stayed away. It is unhealthy warm out there today. Just like everyday in Texas from June to September.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) found the list: suzuki ramon hernandez soto kelly shoppach huberto quintero Found the link as well but thank you for posting http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/pote...e-catchers.html Suzuki is a guy KW has on his list that he will acquire.
  5. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) i know kurt suzuki is. hes been really bad this year and is making a lot of money though Soto is also another guy who was on the list. They had Kurt and Soto as potential waiver wire guys.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) Any ideas on a RH hitting backup C that might be available? I have no idea.Although thats a good idea to research later after the game. I believe mlbtraderumors had a few catchers on their trade list the other day.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) I wouldn't pay anything for a backup catcher. I don't even know if I'd give up Flowers for a backup catcher. I'd insist on buying one if I felt like I needed one I think Flowers would be better served being in AAA and starting everyday.
  8. Yikes Harrison just went through those guys like nothing.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) There is seriously no reason to expect that Phegley would step in as a part time player and somehow be more effective than Flowers in that role. Phegley's been on the DL for so much of his minor league career that he's averaged under 300 PA's a year. If you're looking for a backup C upgrade who can take that 1 day a week job and have more success it's going to be through the trade market. I have no problem with trading for one.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) How do you know a guy who is OPSing 250 pts LESS than Flowers did at AAA is going to be better than Flowers at the major league level? I'm just saying, yeah, Flowers sucks right now, but I don't see anyone to replace him with that would be any better. So that means dont try it?
  11. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) Yeah I don't know what people expect out of a backup catcher that plays as rare as Flowers does.... he plays good defense and has thrown out baserunners anything more is gravy. Except he cant even put the ball in play when the bases are loaded. Thats kind of an issue.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Who is going to replace him? Josh Phegley? Why not have Josh Phegley replace him?
  13. I really cant wait for Kenny to pull the plug on Flowers. His approach is swing at everything the pitcher throws.
  14. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) Here comes Viciedo, taking strikes and swinging at balls. Dammit Dayan So much for that
  15. Second time the Ump has called a ball almost in the middle of the plate a ball
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Yes, but not this bad. In fact, i think that he had streaks where he was decent. But there aren't too many hitters that are going to play once a week and be good. Ofcourse it wasnt this bad. I dont think it matters how many times he plays. He will continue to struggle.
  17. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) In all fairness, like all of our bench, they need to play a little more often to get in a groove. You do realize he has been struggling at the plate since he was in the minors right?
  18. I cant wait until Tyler Flowers is off this roster.
