QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) Flowers strikes out looking so freaking much. I wish he'd just swing hard 3 times and hopes he hits it. Just a bad player, yet some would rather give him the starting spot and not bring back AJ. Didnt someone say that they would rather have Flowers start than AJ?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:09 AM) link or it didn't happen He's a FA at end of season right? Money can't be a big limiting factor for anyone looking to pick him up Yeah he is a free agent. I think he was set to make 14 million this year?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:07 AM) They probably don't want anybody MLB ready The more salary they eat they will want one.

AJ that lazy butt hole

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) The Cubs would probably aim higher than getting a future closer. I would not do that trade if I was KW (or Theo) They have been looking at infield prospects. But I have a feeling they wont get anybody major league ready for Dempster.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:02 AM) I don't WANT to, but it may be the lesser of evils if you say that we must acquire a somewhat big ticket player Say the Cubs eat most of Dempsters contract but they want someone like Jones. Would you do it?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) Nate Jones may be our most expendable piece that actually has a fairly high value Indeed...itll be interesting to see what happens in the weeks to come
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) I don't mean so much that he should care what I say, but JR will certainly be upset if he sees the Cubs or whomever is trading a starting pitcher winning with Dayan Viciedo, Jared Mitchell, Nate Jones, etc. while we have trouble filling those or other positions without spending a good deal of money Clearly no to trading Viciedo. I actually dont mind exploring deals with Mitchell and Nate Jones.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) It's more about what we're going to say in three years if we trade away an MLB star or two for a half season of Dempster or something like that while we're itching for more young talent. Kenny certainly wants to make a deal, he doesn't like having a flawed team in a pennant race -- but I'm sure last season is fresh in his mind and you don't want to get caught in the same mindset that sets you up for spectacular failure in the future. Some BS trying to replace struggling players this season is acceptable if the stockpile of young players eventually makes this kind of thing not an issue (either having capable replacements in the minors or at least having a deep enough minor league talent to trade away without ruining the system) Kenny shouldnt care what we say now or in 30 years when he is long gone from the White Sox. He got to be GM of a baseball team that won the World Series. He should be able to laugh off our critisms of him. Problem with those young ones in the minor leagues right now is there really isnt anyone we should be afraid of getting rid of. Maybe Castro. As far as the major league roster I agree except for Nate Jones. Be interesting to see what we could get for him.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) There's no one currently in the Sox minors who us fans should get upset about if they're traded, I honestly believe. Maybe Castro...but thats really it.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) My question is, of course, how does he do that? It will not reflect well upon KW if he trades away one/some of our few promising young players to get a shot at winning a division that will likely require 90 wins or less to make the playoffs. Mortgaging the future is no longer an option, we're not trying to buy into a 1-3 year window anymore. I think he would trade those prospects away depending on the player. But you can almost feel Kenny itching to make a deal right now. To be honest Kenny shouldnt give 2 cents what anybody on here or the media thinks about his deal. At least thats what a GM should do.

Nate Jones is a monster

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) I'm all for benching him, but there's no replacement. He lucked out by having Robin trust him and show he could come back and hold them down a couple of innings tonight. He's even luckier that a guy like Axelrod is his only competition at the moment (this is due to Stewart and Santiago being in the bullpen, they were by far our best rotation depth last season). When the competition becomes Quintana, we've got something cooking. It's not for right now. Cooper is going to have to do a little coaching with these right handers and hopefully both can turn it around...but we may only need one to do so. Floyd certainly gets the nod if they keep having similar outings I think its only a matter of time now before Kenny goes and gets someone.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) You have to realize that Humber is extremely valuable to the White Sox if he can command his pitches at all. Humber has NOTHING has an outing like this where Axelrod will have everything working and have similar stat lines. Phil had a great year last year and had mystified many by not succeeding sooner. While we John is still hurt and there are no actual prospects in waiting to replace him I don't mind trying one more start to catch lightning in a bottle. It took some real mettle to settle down after that third inning. He hasnt been able to do that for some time now.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:26 PM) Eh, I'm not sure if we could expect more than this kind of outing from Axelrod. He probably gets another. Still on the chopping block if we ever see a healthy Danks He shouldnt get another. But I have a feeling he will. At this point I rather see Axelrod.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:24 PM) Why does the hit total matter? I could also say he threw 80% scoreless innings. All that matters for these purposes is the run total and the inning total. He may walk away with a win, even You think he deserves another start?
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) After all that, not the worst of outings for Phil. Even Code Red had a good first inning Yeah he only gave up 4 runs and 9 hits
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:08 PM) Can Humber throw another good inning? Thank goodness we dont have to find out
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 16, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) CSN reported that Danks saw Dr Youkum today and there are no issues in shoulder. get a runner so you can ph for Humber. He said there was no structural damage. There is definitely something wrong with Danks though which is why he is still going to the doctor on Monday.
