From what ive read it does appear we put in a claim for Thome. So if the Twins dont intend to release him he is playing in Minnesota or Chicago. Please tell me if I missed something here. But that tweet was only an hour ago. I wasnt checking the news when people were reporting the stuff about Cleveland working out a trade for Thome and Kubel going somewhere else. So if there is a definitive source out there with that information please correct me because as I said I wasnt available at the time this info was released.

hoynsie paul hoynes #Indians put in a claim on Jim Thome on Wednesday. The White Sox may have as well. from twitter
-
So Im looking at rotoworld and it talks about Cleveland for sure putting in a claim on Jim. But the source that they use says that the White Sox may have put in a claim for Thome as well.
-
Im guessing Kubel would be a block and we may actually get Thome

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Sox are going to be damned if they'll let anyone get to the Tigers. I actually wouldnt mind having Kubel
-
Apparently were placing a claim for Kubel now lol

Can we place Ozzie on waivers to

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 24, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) God, just let the man go to Philadelphia and let him try to win a championship to finish his career. I would feel sorry for him if he had to come back here. Kenny--don't do it. He wouldnt even get that far in the waiver process.
-
Reading a few Twins message boards it seems that they think the Twins would be willing to let him go for nothing. Unless Jim doesnt want to go.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Haha, such a Sox move. I think they've done everything they possibly could this year to make me like them less and less. I wouldnt say its a forgone conclusion that he is part of this team. Like I said its Joe Cowley.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Sure, when there's 2 catchers on the roster Id like to know how many times he has done this with more than 2 catchers on the roster
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) After rosters expand and AJP is activated, you could play AJP and DH Flowers without Ozzie feeling short-handed. Ozzie rarely does that.In fact didnt he say something about that? Didnt he say he didnt like to do that?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) So much would be wrong with putting in a claim on Thome right now. It would be very disappointing to see. We'll be 8 games out probably by the time he could even put on a Sox jersey, and it would just take time away from Viciedo or Flowers. I didnt realize Thome switched to catcher
-
Sounds like the same stuff from a year ago. Ozzie cant find room for him but would love to have him back.
-
already posted it in the Jim Thome thread

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...home-again.html Yeah its Cowley...but the "source" in the article says we are putting a claim in for Thome.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) Some of you guys are starting to portray Cub-like delusional optimism. I just don't seen anything about this team that exudes "Championship caliber". Who said this was championship caliber?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) I hope you see my rationale, as I'm pretty sure you understand mine. It comes down to you and others thinking that there still is a legitimate shot for the Sox to both win the division and go deep into the playoffs. Therefore, Thome would help in that. On the other hand, I don't think they have any chance at all to win a series in the playoffs and that they'd be extremely lucky to even make it there. Therefore, it would be useless to pick up Thome and it would screw him over as well. Well its that and thinking about what Sox management would do. What would Ozzie do sort of thing.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) I'm sorry that you haven't given up lol in the end I think there is about a 20 percent chance we claim him.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I've added a ton to this argument already. You're the one taking the cop out. Yes Im sorry that I havent given up on the team yet....even though we still are in the hunt.
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Ah, the Cub fan mentality. Ah the I dont have anything to add to the argument mentality
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) And I just showed how the math all but declares the Tigers the winner. All but...so yeah like I said
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) What I'm saying is that, yes, it would make their team better. But it doesn't matter because it's already over. For the Orioles, it is in stone that it is already over. For the Sox, it's over in all but the mathematical sense. The Tigers need to play one game over .500 just to get to 87 wins. The Sox need to win 2/3 of their games to get to that same number. It's just not going to happen. Good thing the math is all that counts at the end of the day
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Why would we spend more money when our attendance is pathetic and we have a .500 team with virtually no chance to win it all this year? Yes spending 600K is really putting it all out there...
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) That has been my point this entire time. It does not benefit the Sox to claim him, so why do it? It only serves to screw him out of a chance to win a title. I worded that wrong.I believe he helps us. He clearly is an upgrade at DH. There is no loss for the White Sox if he decides to play or retire
