  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Best weather day of the year, and this game will probably be 2:15. Well so called "SLUG FESTS" havent been working out for us in this series. Might as well try a good ol pitching duel.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:44 PM) Sale will be our only representative because there are closers who are equally/more deserving than Crain. Really? A 0.75 ERA in 38 appearances doesn't warrant a possible ASG? Man tough sledding for set up guys. I know if you look into "SABERMETRICS" Crain isn't at the top of those lists, but man gotta feel for him if he doesn't get consideration. Most likely this will be his career best season.
  3. Sale & Masterson looking like first one to 1 may win. Love me a good ol pitching duel tho.
  4. Chris Sale has been very good & so has Jesse Crain. Any hitters getting the nod? Alex Rios I doubt with all the other names in the outfield for the AL.
  5. The Q/Santiago argument is def a tough one. I personally like them both, but I just don't see us keeping both in the rotation unless Danks is gone. Both are young lefties who have have shown some real promise. Kind of a good problem to have though I wouldn't mind a Sale Johnson Q Santiago Johnson rotation, but I really think Danks will start to turn it around here shortly, & hell if he starts pitching a little like vintage Buehrle he should be able to find some great success. Danks just needs to KEEP THE BALL DOWN, just given up way too many homers right now.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:59 AM) There's no way they're going to take on Josh Johnson's contract with his injury history. Its bad enough with Danks for now to worry about. Johnson is a FA...correct? With his recent injuries & somewhat mediocre season so far, I doubt he makes the big time money. If you can get him on a reasonable contract & he can turn it around with the help of Coop & just staying healthy, he could be a steal. He still has a lot of pitching left in him.
  7. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:11 AM) Where did Santiago go ? It just came down to him or Q for me & with Santiagos ability to move to the bullpen I figured I would keep Q in the rotation. Just don't like 4 lefties in the rotation. But ehhh what's it matter?...None of have a clue what's gonna happen
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) Eh, it kinda depends on the year. Some years, there are a few premium players that having the 3rd pick is a good thing. I'm not sure about next year, but hey, why not have the best pick possible and get a potential future all-star. This is who you want....Pair this lefty with Sale going forward DY-NA-MITE
  9. This Puig-Mania defense has been terrible tonight. First I saw him kick a ball into the stands for a ground rule double. Now to lead off the 9th he lets the ball get by him near the line which allows Michael Young to scoot into 2nd down by 1.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Soft liner on his 2nd AB for an out. Soft liner??? That was a weak grounder.
  11. Mitchell walks the leadoff guy in the 4th then throws a wild pitch & gets pulled.... Is he on some sort of strict pitch count?
  12. Mitchell 123 3rd....2 punch outs 3 IP 1 hit ... 3 Ks
  13. Beckett having season ending surgery. They may be looking for a pitcher if they stay close.
  14. F**K Puig it's all about Chris Davis this season...MY GOODNESS. Just hit 2 more homers, up to 30 & 3 shy of his career high already.
  15. Mitchell through the 1st giving up one hit & striking out 1. Mitchell 123 in the 2nd.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) Anderson, 2-2, .341. Dig it. THE FUTURE!!!
  17. Trey 0-2 but yet another walk Jacob May off to a hot start at .345...Andrew Mitchell about to pitch.
  18. IMPOSSIBLE to do, but what the heck. C... Josh Phegley (Deserves the opportunity) 1B... Matt Adams (Go after this potential slugger with a Peavy or Crain heading to St Louis) 2B... Kolten Wong (Matt Carpenter making it TOUGH for him to get to the big leagues, if Cards are interested in Peavy a Adams/Wong return could be a possibility) 3B... Connor Gillaspie (He has shown quite a bit so far, still young, & let's see how he progresses/adjusts) SS... Gordon Beckham (Would love to see him get a shot at SS if Lexi is moved, I think he can make the change just fine) LF... Tank (Up & down...Up & down...Up & down it seems with him throughout the seasons, but I def don't wanna give up on him yet) CF... Jacoby Ellsbury (Throw some money at him in the off season & give us a lead off hitter who can cause some real problems at the top) RF... Alex Rios (This is iffy, cause I think there is a good shot he could be traded, but if not I'll gladly keep em) DH... Adam Dunn (Don't think he will be traded & he continues to hit quite a few homers) Ellsbury - L Wong - L Rios - R Dunn - L Tank - R Adams - L Beckham - R Gillaspie - L Phegley - R Chris Sale (ACE) Josh Johnson (Coop gets him looking like his old self ) John Danks (Hopefully he starts to look like his old self again) Jose Quintana (Still young & still pitching fairly well, would like to see him continue to progress) Erik Johnson (Look forward to see him making his debut later in the season ) Talk about "realistic"....
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) I'll say, he's in the Top 20-25 for MLB OPS right now. Speaking of OPS, didn't realize Adam Lind was #10. I know Fathom has brought up his name a few times for 1B/DH next year, let's hope he doesn't keep this up or he'll price himself our of our spending range...although we would still have Morales on the radar screen as well. Lind has been their most consistent hitter. Gotta think they will look to hold on to him. Doesn't he have a 7 million Club Option next year?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) Except Wong plays the same position as Beckham, and there's a 90-95% chance Gordon is back next year at 2B. Beck possibly sliding to the SS position? I would like to see him move over there for a bit & see how he performs if Lexi is moved.
  21. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1577286...-on-kolten-wong Article from March, but Carpenter has most def produced up to this point
  22. QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 07:05 PM) I think I was day dreaming and missed whatever was said. ?Alexei is the only player in baseball to play EVERY inning I believe he said?
  23. So Hawk is saying if we go 19-0 against the Tigers we have a chance??? DON'T SELL!!!
  24. BECK with one HECK of a play!!! Helped Crains ERA
  25. Not the Giants....but I could see the Cardinals ultimately needing bullpen help. Crain for Matt Adams & Other (s)? Adams def intrigues me. Looks like he could be a future 1B/DH for years to come. & yes he just hit 2 homers against the As Plus didn't the Cards just announce they were going to a 4 man rotation? They could use a starter & they have some really interesting prospects
