  1. I am probably going Rauner too. It's time to give a republican a shot.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Sadly in this country, and particularly this state and city, "he's rich" is worse than "this dude straight up lied to you AND is taking your money away!!" Here's the thing Jenks, both candidates are going to be taking money out of our pockets. If Rauner lowers the minimum wage, that's just more people on the government tit. Quinn's mismanagement of tax funds is already costing us money. The question is, which is going to cost the least. So yeah it's really the lesser of two evils. I think Rauner has a good message with term limits and shutting down democrat ineptitude in Illinois. That being said, no poor person is going to get behind that guy knowing he thinks they should be paid less and that he wants to have tax loopholes for people that invest. I think Rauner would shake up Illinois but he probably doesn't have the ammo to win this.
  3. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Why does being rich make him an asshole? Seriously, Quinn is just bad. Not saying Rauner is much better, but Quinn is bad. Intellect of Biden, and zero likability. You're right that Quinn is bad, which is why the Republicans should just produce a likable candidate that can win, preferably a minority. Rauner is the poster boy for the GOP. Can you picture anyone but white people voting for him? You could say the same about Quinn but he does have (D) next to his name.
  4. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 05:56 PM) Why does being rich make him an asshole? Seriously, Quinn is just bad. Not saying Rauner is much better, but Quinn is bad. Intellect of Biden, and zero likability. I saw the video of saying that he would lower minimum wage down to the federal level. I know Chicago's problems have arisen due to poor leadership but saying you're going to take money out of people's pockets is a quick way to give your opponent a landslide victory. Wages just have to go up at this point otherwise they are just going to be living off the government tit anyway. If Rauner is going to eliminate those social programs, he'll have riots on his hands.
  5. Sorry to bring this up again but I was researching both candidates for Illinois gubernatorial race. (Can an admin change my spelling error in the title?) Part of me wants to see a Republican in Springfield just to shake up the Illinois democratic machine. That being said, Rauner just seems like your run of the mill, typical, rich asshole Republican. How is it that every time an election comes up, where the incumbent should be clearly voted out that Republicans fail to produce a quality candidate?
  6. See ya Dunn. How many walk-off homers did he hit during his WS tenure?
  7. Robin really can't do anything about the scrubs on his roster. The only quality hitters his has is probably Abreu and Gillaspie. The rest are pretty much dog s***.
  8. I got an offer for a position with a small company as a chemist albeit contract to hire. A company that I interviewed with back in late June, early July did not offer me a position for a permanent chemist role but they wanted to consider me for the contractor role (contract to hire as well). The guy who interviewed me kept asking over and over again over the span of a couple weeks if I was still available for the role and keeping me updated to their progress. Moving forward, I sent an email before I accepted my offer at the smaller company last week to let the guy know I had a tentative offer on the table. I received no response so I took the offer at the smaller company. I get an email yesterday from the guy who replies to my email from last week. He said, "If you have an offer, take it because I don't think we will be able to offer you a position at this point." I already accepted the offer so it's no skin off my back. This morning, he said to disregard the email and that I was going to get an offer. I already took the offer at the smaller company and had a start date at the new company. The rate of pay for both positions are the same. Is it possible to play this situation to get more money? How does it effect one's reputation for backing out of an offer to take a different one? Any thoughts are appreciated.
  9. When people say they want justice for Mike Brown, do they just want the officer(s) prosecuted for murder?
  10. Both of your methods work. There is no right or wrong. Just preference. Of course you already knew this. If something is not dishwasher kosher, I use a dish wand to wash it, and then cold water to rinse.
  11. Obviously both sides are guilty of wrongdoing. That being said I am finding hard to find empathy. Mike Brown was doing stereotypical black male actions. He was not minding his own business. He was doing criminal acts, not that the cop that shot him knew that. Now I'm not condoning the use lethal force on the kid but cops are human too. A lot of the decisions they have to make have to be quick where hesitation can get you or others killed. I think people that believe that all cops kill blacks kids for lolz are being disingenuous. Mike Brown is a tragedy but sadly s*** like this goes on everyday. Does that mean we accept it? No, but the looting, civil disobedience, and overall chaos in Ferguson is not going to bring that kid back.
  12. Time to send in the drones.
  13. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 12:37 AM) I'll buy him a beer, he saved me like 1k for not allowing that wild pitch to get past and for the runner to score to make it 10-9. I stupidly bet sox runline. Woohoo I agree.
  14. I had a damn typo in my email. I tripled checked it and still missed it. Oh well. This might backfire.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 10:33 PM) Anyone ever use Airbnb? Yes, what do you need to know about it?
  16. Well bollocks. I just haven't been doing that. Not that I know whether it would make or break it. I had an interview today so I'll be sure to send a follow-up email stating my gratitude for the interview and their time. It was a company based in New Zealand so I had a couple of cute girls interviewing me with those accents.
  17. Silly question, but could a thank you gesture of any sort make or break an individual getting a position?
  18. Is it a common practice to mail thank you cards to your interviewer(s)?
  19. Good or bad is subjective. It's like asking is morality relative or universal. An honor killing could be considered a good act by some and bad by others. No black and white, just grey.
  20. Meh they won 2 of 3, if they did that the rest of the way, I'm sure noone would complain.
