  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 21, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) It's matchups--Boston sent back-to-back lefty starters. Match up smatch up... he's been one of the better hitters on the team and playing decent defense too. Kepp does not deserve to start with how atrocious and lackadasical he's been.
  2. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ May 21, 2013 -> 12:42 PM) http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/ba...-jose-quintana/ Very nice write-up/preview from WEEI. Book on Doubront this year: Velo is down a couple ticks, walking a lot of guys and can't go deep in games. He's about to work his way out of the rotation it seems. Perfect candidate to no hit the SOX.
  3. Doubront must get hella runs support with the record and ERA he's posting.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 21, 2013 -> 10:45 AM) Quintana is also 3.5 years younger. Not sure why you're trying to compare the two at all. Well we're all just giving our ideal opinions on how Axelrod can improve as a pitcher so I'm not sure why I can't compare the two.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 21, 2013 -> 10:05 AM) 1. It isn't real likely he'll be adding any speed at this point in his career. 2. Adding pitch speed is often not about bulking up - in fact it is the opposite in many cases. Semantics. Quintana increased his fastball speed in the off season. He was around 88 last year and it's up to 90-92 now.
  6. I agree. He has great control but he needs to bulk up and increase his speeds.
  7. Kepp better produce tonight or someone should kick him square in his goddamn ovaries.
  8. Time to break up this losing streak. Axe man going for 2 in a row. #TWTW
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 20, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) I've seen this movie before. It doesn't end well for Cleveland. Same stuff. Different year. Well said, let's see how they do against the Tigers.
  10. Sounds far fetched and that's putting it mildly.
  11. Might be a good night to give Casper some AB and put Viciedo at DH for a RH heavy batting order.
  12. Haven't the SOX owned Lester in the past?
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 17, 2013 -> 03:27 PM) I still really don't believe the Red Sox are that good. After this weekend, their schedule will have included 9 games against the Blue Jays, 4 against the Astros, and 7 against the Twins (and they're only 2-3 against Minnesota this year). They have not had a difficult schedule thus far. Devil's advocate here but aren't good teams suppose to beat bad teams?
  14. Jake Peavy IMO owed the Sox that deal considering he was injured and got paid like an ace for those years. Granted it's his choice and I'm glad he did what he did considering he would've got paid on the FA market.
  15. If Danks can improve his contact rate, then we can talk. Danks is always swinging for the fences. DWise makes contact and hustles for doubles. He does make base running gaffes from time to time but he also has some pop in his bat too.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 15, 2013 -> 05:01 PM) You wouldn't call 4.17 ERA "serviceable" for a 5th starter? He said something bogus about Axelrod. I wasn't talking about about his performance in the slightest. witesoxfan making me look like an asshole again.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 15, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Nice effort by AXELROD. He has been a very serviceable 5th starter for us. That is just wrong.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) 9 runs? How? #TWTW
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 15, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) If your #5 pitcher goes 5 innings allowing 2 runs after your #1 and 2 go 9 and 7 innings the previous 2 days, you can't really complain. Agreed. Lindstrom is a professional and he just didn't get the job done today.
  20. That will definitely shut all the Beckham haters up.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 15, 2013 -> 01:10 PM) Hopefully Axelrod can settle down and get a 1-2-3 inning. +1 C'mon Axeman!
  22. QUOTE (Jake @ May 15, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) Dunn. Is. Back. We'll see.
