  1. But the Sox hitters seem really dumb. They never make adjustments and have tunnel vision at the plate. Choke up on the bat and make some contact.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) Abreu absolutely sucks. Really hope he's available at the deadline. Why would any team want Abreu if he sucks?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 01:39 AM) Well, if the country has declared a war on police, they are going to have to respond. No cop wants to die on the job. I mean there are going to be a lot of commands, "Put your hands on the steering wheel NOW" after simple stops. Also if there is a car stranded on the road I dunno if cops will be stopping to help. Could be a fricking ambush. Neither side trusts each other so yeah it's going to be straight ugly. Might force prosecutors to put cops behind bars instead of overcharge the officers so they get off. People want peace but how the hell do you get it at this point?
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) @write sox David Robertson in 2 games against KC (5/28) and SEA (6/18): 1.1 IP, 10 ER, 67.50 ERA In other 34 games: 35.2 IP, 7 ER, 1.77 ERA Basically he had a hiccup yesterday. It just sucks because the team really needed that game.
  5. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Blow it up. Let the kids play. So many of us have been saying this for so long. This is what it looks like to play the "go for it every year game" and perennially fail. Yep, it's time. This organization has consistently tried the band aid method and haven't even sniffed the playoffs. Frazier, Melky, Roberston, Duke, and whoever else you can punt for prospects sounds good.
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) 3-0 is a save situation Yes, I know this. That wasn't my question now.
  7. I feel like Robertson has been decent in saves situations but really bad in non save situations. Was this just rust?
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 18, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Spend the bare minimum, keep it open. This is the best strategy. If it doesn't cost anything to keep it open, just make some simple purchase, pay it off, and repeat.
  9. DO NOT CLOSE IT! You will take a hit on your credit score. I know because I have done this before.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) Well if you believe the idea that hateful rhetoric leads to violence, absolutely. The time for talk is done. It's about to get super bloody and hopefully after the dust settles, we'll realize, "you know, we're all humans... let's stop these shenanigans..."
  11. Anaheim stadium might be the new house of horrors lol
  12. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) Shuck is actually decent. I don't mind him being our centerfielder. Would much rather have him in the lineup than Avi. I think that the consistent ineptitude of the organization has caused people to see red with every player. Shuck has had his down moments but he's a 4th outfielder starting, it is what it is. He also gives effort and battles. That's more than I can say for some other players who give away ABs with laziness.
  13. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Shuck He just missed it. He never gets in power in his swings though.
  14. Yeah you gotta move Frazier down. He's the same hitter no matter where he is in the lineup.
  15. I mean can RV try to help the hitters by calling hit and runs or something?
  16. The more you look at the team the more you see how brutal the hitters are. I don't trust Lawrie, Frazier, any catcher, or Avi to every do anything productive except once in a blue moon. That's a terrible lineup.
  17. I imagine these type of attacks will only increase. Not sure how you can stop it now.
  18. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) I don't know why Turner is starting today instead of Sale since the decision on whether or not to acquire talent and make a run, or in the alternative, to sit back, try to trade veterans, shed salary and get prospects, hinges on how the Sox perform during the next 10 days or so. Losing to the Braves twice and the Angels (at least) twice, two of the worst teams in baseball, has already set a negative tone. The only thing that will make this season worse is losing 3 or 4 to the Cubs, and that 4 game home/away series is right around the corner. If we get swept by the Cubs will that finally earn Ventura a ticket out of town? As many others have pointed out, there was a bad game plan by our offense against a sinker ball pitcher yesterday. Then there was a failure to make any adjustments during the course of the game. That should not be surprising though since that seems to be the norm in major league baseball When you have low talent hitters, why are you surprised that they get shut out by scrubs. The sox are like the clock that is stopped. It's only right two times a day but the rest of the time they are wrong.
  19. Frazier is what he is. Doesn't make adjustments, K's a lot, homers, and walks.
