That is one of the most overrated cliches in MLb if not sports. A coach doesnt stand up for a player. JM has many of times stood up for his players thru the media and on the field. Just because the guy doesnt show emotion doesn't mean he doesn't have emotion. He is never going to be a Billy Williams style manager. His type of managing skills seemed to work just fine for the 2 teams in the World Series last year.

Doesn't player motivation fall under the realm of the manager? To the main extent how a player plays is up to the manager, but good managers have the ability to get players to reach higher levels than they would on their own. Look at what Mike Scocia got out of the Angels last year. Look at the job Tom Kelly did with terrible teams in Minnesota, also the Montreal teams that were young and overmatched of years past. We chronically have underachieved under the tenure of Jerry Manuel, dispite frequent changes to improve talent. If a player has to be motivated to go out there and do his job then I dont want him on our team. Yes the manager should help lead the team, motivation for player performance is a seperate issue.

I dont know why some Sox fans have a false sense of what our team is. Of course we all want them to win every game, folks its not going to happen. Also, if you dont think we majorily overachieved in 2000 then your very wrong. We had no business winning 95 games. Give JM the credit for that and the credit for keeping this team above water when the talent has been slim and the pitching staff has been far from pleasant to the eye.

Jerry is simply a laid back, casual guy. He is a devout Christian and sometimes people read that as being soft or too conservative. I like that approach in a MLB manager Lou Pinella hes not and thank goodness. I will take JM any day of the week over most of the managers in MLB. Jimenez was one of the Yankees top 3 Prospects when he was in their farm system. The injury set him back a little, but you can see he is showing why he was rated so highly coming up thru the minors. He is the 2B of the present and the immediate future for the Sox. Not Harris and not Miles. Unless however they move him back to SS, but that will not happen until Harris or Miles proves they belong on a daily basis to this day neither has done so. We are starting to play good ball here of late. The Royals will come down off this cloud they are on and the next 4-6 weeks their schedule is more difficult than it has been to date. Go Sox.....sweep the Tigers!

No way have I ever said that nor have I made any indication that I was. I am the biggest PaleHose fan you will find from the minors to the majors I know about every Sox player we have. Besides if I was from the Insiders what would I gain?

I saw where a couple of our former prize prospects had good games, I am glad they are getting a fair chance to play. Biddle gets the save and Jeff goes 1 for 1. By no means am I questioning the Colon trade, because he will be just fine.

Where does it "need to be"? It is just a message board, relax a little. I think the OWNERS of the site have it right where it "needs" to be. If you say so, I am just trying to help. People my only point in regards to the language is (yes its your right to say what you wish) we as www.soxnet.net members want this site to become the best site possible. Once we get to the point where we are the leading sox site not listed as www.whitesox.com we want people coming here for updated, quality info. That being said once they come here they dont need to see these high school like, profanity rich comments. I hope that makes sense, please look at this as a professional. Not as a poster. Say what you like, but realize if this site doesnt get to where it needs to be soon maybe, just maybe the language issue had some small part in that.

Graffy is not even close to what Jose is defensively. Graffy makes all the routine plays....Jose does not. Graffy has very little range....Jose has very, very good range. Graffy has a soft, accurate throw....Jose has a fast, inaccurate throw. There is a big difference defensively. I'm not shocked by the move though....because as some guys have said, you gotta get the bench players in....and Jose doesn't hit lefties very well. Your right there is a big difference defensively Graffy is much better.
