Everett is pathetic in centerfield, everything that goes out there turns into a double or triple. His bat will help, but he's no centerfielder. He can't run a lick.
-
You got a point there with getting Alomar as a spark pug, but Everett may be the bigger value in this deal. They won't stack up righty relievers on us like they did in 2000.

I wish I was only 46 years old again. I have seen the prospects come and go with all kinds of mixed results in the last half century. The future has never arrived here in my lifetime yet, or my Father's either. 1917 was another time and in another world. Time to go for broke, while I'm still above ground. If we only have a dog's chance in Hell of getting to the play offs and doing some good there, I say go for it now.

I don't think the White Sox would have depleted so much of their farm system just to win a division that they might have won anyway. Everett and Alomar are defiantly ammunition for the play offs. I think more trades are in the works too. Maybe Ponson or Weaver. (?) We may have enough starting pitching and hitting to be a very tough to beat in the post season. It will be interesting to see what happens.

In a half a century of following the White Sox, this is the most stunning thing they have ever done. It's amounts to a midseason declaration of War! Some of the future just shipped out of here, for the present campaign. The 2003 season is now being treated like a do or die situation. In 1959-1960 off season, Bill Veek, put the future aside for another trip to the World Series, and he failed This is a midseason move with a sub .500 team, but it is in the same spirit of "the future is now". It's kind of like the 1997 White Flag Sale in reverse? **grin** Carl Everett will be a terrible choice as a centerfielder, but his bat is certainly dangerous. He may also turn out to be a clubhouse cancer. (?) Sandy Alomar is a outstanding fielder, but he as slipped a bit with his offense in recent times. He also could become a clubhouse cancer. (?) The dice have been rolled and it should be interesting to see what happens. We now have more left handed balance in our lineup, and more pop & speed too. Well, say what you want too, and think what you might, but things just got real interesting around here. ( There may be more trades very soon for some pitching.) Go Chicago White Sox..................maybe it's finally " OUR TIME ! "

If Danny Wright didn't pitch his guts out today we would not have won. (Valentin, Lee, and Thomas get special mention.)

Now I can go take my siesta, you folks that ain't retire get your butts back to work.

Isn't Nolan Ryan's Bass Inn a little way west of Three Rivers? I live up north of you in Killeen, right out side of Fort Hood. A good place for a retired Army man, who never wants to see snow again. Hello sat... Hey back to you, how it's going? We are going to get a good win today and then we get the Cubs and Twins in our park.

For the White Sox that might be Sandy Consuegra. In 1954 he was 16-3. Before and after that he never won more than 7 games.
-
Not unless we can put him on a diet, and get him hooked on jogging.

Ya, or we might all have to sing "Somewhere over the Rainbow".

I think Loaiza is the guy that should and will start the All-Star Game for the American League. He is also our most valuable player this year, hands down. If he can have a second half as good as the first has been, he will win the Cy Young Award.
-
If we were even or only a couple of games back of the Twins I would agree that 3-3 is ok. We are 6 games back in the loss column and 4-2 is not incredible, it's more like necessary. 5-1 would be a lot better and 6-0 would be incredible. 3-3 favors the Twins. If they win 4 of 6 and they will likely will bury us again this year. PS: I live in Texas too. (Killeen)

Hey blspieg, I see you made your way over to this site. Welcome aboard.

When I think of great pitchers like Tom Seaver, Steve Carlton, Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, etc., I find that they all had strong work ethics, believed in physical conditioning, and had fire in the belly. Bartolo Colon will last as long as his youth does, then he will pay for his lack of conditioning. Dave Wells could have been a great pitcher instead of a good one had he practiced some self restraint and worked out more. I don't think Colon will have the future you believe he will. I don't think he has the fire in the belly for it, as large as it is. IMHO

HSC, It look for a while like we might get that sweep, so it hurt to see it slip away in the 8th inning. I too am glad that we took 2 of 3 from them. I hope we do as good against the Twins now.

"Sat-as far as making peace-I've done nothing that would warrant an apology.Let's just let it go and get back to talking about crappy baseball............ I'm glad you're here though...." Keaddy, It's your business and Ill honor that, but I wish things were different between you two. Ok, I'll talk about "bad" baseball with you, there's plenty of that anymore. Todays loss hurt, I really wanted that sweep in the worse way.

NO HIS DUMBASS IS WHY I LEFT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.. I DONT WANT HIM HERE TOO.......... I guess I'm the one who's in the dark, and don't read enough posts? I always thought you and Sox2K3 were good friends.
-
That's not a bad handle, but the HTML is still gone from the MLB board. Do you think they will restore that feature?
-
Ncorgbl and Sox2K3 are about the only guys there that I post to anymore. If Ncorgbl stays here, I'm not going back there. They also took HTML away from us. Can someone get Sox2K3 over here?
-
I can't think of any new board handle to use, and I'm out e-mail addresses anyway.
-
Hi Keaddy, I wish you would make peace with Ncorgbl. Old friends need each other in this world. We know each well enough to know that we all have flaws and good points. Please put the hatched down and make peace. Wow! I'm begining to sound like cwsox. It must be something I ate or am I getting soft in my old age?

"...........first off welcome aboard sat.. im so happy to see you finally made it over here....now i can honestly say that i have all my favorite guys in one spot......." Hi HSC, good to see you again. I got bozoed over at the other site again. I'm a bad boy.

#2 Nelson Fox 1959 MVP, Well, with your board handle I can see why you would. Do you remember when he wore #26?
