RIP. There's really no excuse for driving while intoxicated anymore. -

I've had enough. This Groce thing is over. -
Isn't it fairly obvious that there is no one industry that can take down Chicago like the automotive industry took down Detroit? Chicago is nothing like Detroit.

Not a Typical Rebuild According to White Sox
Bananarchy replied to Thomas_Ventura_Roberts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 21, 2017 -> 08:32 AM) The 2017 White Sox team is going to be a train wreck. The team has 4 major holes at catcher, CF, Rf and DH. Plus they just traded one of the best pitchers in MLB (Sale). They have done NOTHING to improve this team this off season. After Frazier + Cabrera leave after the 2017 season the 2018 White Sox team will even be worse than the 2017 team. My only hope for the team is that after the 2018 season (hopefully before that) JR sells the team. My friend, it's time to join the rest of Sox Nation and move past this short sighted attitude. -
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) 90 games - .279/.347 with 12 HR, 52 RBI, 16 SB, 2.2 WAR. I hope this is right. That would be amazing.

Not touching that with a 40 foot pole.

QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) I think Goff is a Sox fan. So is Bernstein. Before the Score got the Cubs, his disgust with the White Sox and the direction of their organization was palpable.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 06:50 PM) I agree with you and I'm very torn. I finally opened up to moving him, but it would take an absurd package, because I still think with Jimmy, you are a lot closer to the top then the bottom and I look at the Lakers, who have largely tanked, and I still see them being a long ways away. If the Lakers can't sign big name FA's when you have a roster of young players, Bulls are going to have an even harder time. The scary team is the 76ers. There's a really uncertain NBA rebuild. Meanwhile, the Bucks drafted the Greek Freak and now Philadelphia is way behind them.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) Fun fact: The Veteran's Committee is allowed to vote on Minoso the negro league player or Minoso the MLB player. Not both. That's a travesty. Minoso had an incredible decade and is certainly HOF worthy.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) 25 instagrams, 2000 protein shakes, 6 new tattoos, 3 months on the DL. Well, this thread is officially over.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) Chris Sale is a future Hall of Famer. Most likely if he can keep it up and play on some winning clubs. That's all likely to happen.

Arcade Fire has a new song Hopefully they can get their album released this spring. That would be great.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 03:24 PM) Let me explain. Pitchers get much less wins now because of bullpens coming into play earlier. Years from now, pitchers going into the Hall won't have nearly as man wins on average as they do today (and I haven't looked it up but I bet that the same is true between now and and 2007 for example). Therefore, 214 wins will be a more acceptable number to vote into the Hall than it is today. At this point, MB's win numbers are too low and most people simply recognize other, more superior metrics

QUOTE (turnin' two @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 02:53 PM) If Paulie had played his whole career in Yankee pinstripes, he may have had a chance. Cute, but Jorge Posada didn't get in, either.

Green Bay Super Fan to take Fiancee's last name, Packer I'll be at this wedding, and this still weirds me out.

His statue is on our concourse. That's where Paulie belongs.

The Chargers may or may not have been outdone by Juventus

Not a Typical Rebuild According to White Sox

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) Expecting them to lose a lot, but I still can't pull for a team to do that. Think of it this way: Every game I watch (which is a lot), I want them to win and will pull for them to win, knowing full well that they won't win a lot of them and in the long term that's the right thing to do for the betterment of the franchise. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Easily the best SS since Ozzie Smith, and none have been better since. Not first ballot, but he's the Bill Mazeroski of his generation, plus he played on a number of really good teams during his career, and impacted numerous post-seasons. Alex Rodriguez was a better SS than Vizquel. He played 3B to be on a winner, but he was an incredible shortstop.

QUOTE (Donaldo @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 07:45 PM) With or without Q, I still think this team will win 70+ games. Well, the 2013 team won 63, so anything is possible. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 07:04 PM) Andruw doesn't pass the smell test. I know the numbers look great for 10 years and the defense, but, ya know... Vizquel looks like a glove-first Hall of Fame SS. I wouldn't complain if he got in, but the stat nerds are going to be anti-Omar. Vizquel's WAR numbers aren't very good. His peak three year WAR is less than 12.

QUOTE (Soha @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) Quintana wouldn't be getting shopped if this wasn't a total rebuild. As said above, they can't admit they're trying to lose 105 games. Officials with clubs have to be careful when it comes to admitting tanking. It implies an uneven playing field, which baseball doesn't like. -
Jorge Posada got less than 5% and is off the ballot. MLB Network trying to argue that he played for the Yankees or something.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) With Bagwell and Ivan getting in, they're loosening the "Raines" on keeping juicers out. I just feel Hoffman should've made it. Bonds and Clemons are going to be telling. They'll likely get in by their 10th year on the ballot.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 06:39 PM) Of course they aren't going to tell fans that. They still want to sell tickets. That is a much more succinct answer.
