  1. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) They're honestly the exact opposite of each other. The Cubs had and still have an over abundance of positional talent and had to buy pitching. The Sox are acquiring an over abundance of pitching talent and will most likely need to buy positional talent. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. They are adding talented players and playing into their strength - developing pitching. Cubs did the same thing only reverse and played into what they felt they were better at. I would argue having a plethora of young pitching is a little lower risk. The problem with those high price pitchers in the NL is the bad money at the end of the big contracts. At least in the AL we can turn an aging position player into a DH.
  2. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 07:09 PM) Anything new on the Q front? Not really, but it's on the whitesox.com front page.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jan 8, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) Broke my iPhone today. Thought it was completely dead but was able to plug it into my computer and it sees the phone but won't recognize it without putting in the passcode, which I obviously cannot do. Any tips short of fixing the screen? Apple might be able to do it. Do you have iCloud backups set up on your phone?
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:51 PM) When DRose chucks up 17 shots or more, the Knicks are 1-12. He's just a bad basketball player right now. This offseason will be interesting for him to say the least.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) Jordy Nelson has at least two broken ribs. Ouch. Not that the injury stopped Rodgers on Sunday. Oh man. I can't imagine playing through that. I can't imagine breathing through that.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 05:48 PM) Hilarious that I just hooked her up as source to "receiver input" 1-to-1 because that's how I've been doing it since I was 12. I was planning to do the same thing. Instead, all the HDMIs are plugged into the back of my TV with the cables all hidden in the wall. It looks okay, but behind the tv looks like death with 4 hdmi's. I guess in general I prefer no receiver, though.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) Schmaltz putting up some good numbers in Rockford. He was by far the best player on the ice when I saw him play the Texas Stars. So was that an "unnatural hat trick" for Harman yesterday? Two empty netters
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:15 PM) it's a heck of a lot better than playing outdoor in florida. That's certainly true, and I can't put myself in his shoes. Everything about that franchise not named Longoria kind of sucks.
  9. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 03:54 PM) Lately they have gotten carried away with Prescott and not using Zeke. Who knows if that was being done to preserve Zeke for the playoffs or whether their philosophy is shifting, but its been a noticeable trend of theirs. Yeah, I'm not sure either. Prescott has been pretty strong as of late, but they're going to need Zeke to run like crazy to protect that defense. The Cowboys are very talented, but they clearly have an achilles heal in their often anemic pass rush.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 06:10 PM) I like listening to Bernstein and Abbatacola to be honest. Boers was lame and just kind of agreednwith everything Dan says. Abbatacola at least push back if he doesn't agree. I definitely feel like Matt has earned it at this point. I also feel Bernstein is so difficult to mesh with, it might be worth just moving Matt over now. Unless they move Rozner to a permanent basis, which I would kind of dislike. I don't dislike Rozner, but the golf talk is awful.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) Shoveled together from many sources, here's our deeper dive into Moncada and Kopech. Give it a read, includes embedded videos too. Similar article on the other two prospects coming tomorrow. Really great stuff. I'm not a batting expert by any stretch, but if the worry on Moncada is that he comes to the majors and fails to make consistent contact, would the White Sox be wise to encourage him to bat from the left?
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 05:59 PM) Colby Rasmus to the Devil Rays. I can't imagine anyone wanting to play 81 games a year in that stadium...and yet, it's still Florida.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 04:17 PM) Well, he is set to make $15M in 2017. That'll scare off a lot of suitors. Melky makes much more sense as a guy you hold onto, hope he hits like crazy in a contract year, and move him in June or July to a team desperate for a bat. $7M is much more palatable than $15M. Didn't consider that, but it makes sense.
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 12:13 PM) Wait, North isn't doing Webio anymore?? I lol'd. Really good stuff. I'm just not sure I'm ready for Mike North on a day to day basis and I can't imagine him working with Bernstein. I would expect Matt Abbatacola to be the guy.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) So basically the article is showalter saying they want another LH hitter but then the reporter showing how terrible they were vs LH pitching  But either way Melky is a switch hitter, does not strike out much (which showalter mentiones) and is a terrible fit in basically every other way. The lack of noise surrounding Melky is both surprising and disappointing.
  16. I'm going to man up and request a name change to "Sox-35th".
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) It stretched from July 1st onward tbh. Right, and it wasn't clear at the time that a rebuild was in the cards.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) I haven't had a home sound system for years so this maybe a dumb question, but do these sound bars hook up to TV? No more amplifiers? Depends on the model. The Sonos PlayBar is one of the better (albeit really expensive ones) and it connects directly to your TV via optical cable. No receivers, amplifiers, or anything like that. I would have gone a different direction, but I can't wire my house for sound, so I went fully wireless.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) I have no idea how the Packers are going to stop the Dallas offense. Rodgers may have to throw 4 touchdowns again. The Packers have to stop Zeke early and make Dak beat that GB defense with his arm and hope Cole Beasley and Jason Witten have bad games. Last time GB and Dallas met, Dallas ran and hid. I think it will be closer because Aaron Rodgers is being Aaron Rodgers again, but I still give the edge to Dallas. Barely.
  20. Dallas might be the only team that can stop Rodgers by keeping him off the field.
  21. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) I don't think any of those teams would accept those trades. I can't see the Bulls building around Jimmy either, unless they're able to attract some top FAs, which they've never really been able to do. I really wouldn't mind a trade with the Celtics for Brown, Smart, one or two of their European players along with a bunch of picks. That's much better than what the Nuggets got for Melo IMO If the Bulls can keep Jimmy and lose and get in the draft lottery, there are possibilities. Some of the best players in the NBA right now were picked outside of the top ten. That being said, I think you have to lose Gar to make that happen. The Spurs got their best player with a 15th overall pick. We got ours with 30th. The guy who looks to be the next best player in the NBA went 15th to Milwaukee. The problem is, Gar has shown time and time again that we will not be able to pick the guy we need.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 10:33 AM) If they were willing to give up Bregman, the Astros likely would have interest in Frazier...and the Sox would be wise to throw him in to get Bregman, given the opportunity (although I would be shocked if the Astros gave him up under any scenario). Honestly, I doubt the Astros are the team the White Sox are going to trick into acquiring Frazier. They're all metrics and numbers to the point where Frazier will be nothing to them. Despite his power, TF had a bad season with us overall. If we got Bregman, I might cry.
  23. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 03:02 AM) would be funny if Rondo winds up on the CAVS The Bulls should get a parade if that happens.
  24. I'd draft best available at 3 and the take a quick in the second or third round. The best rookie qb this year was a compensatory fourth, so anything is possible. A second round pick would certainly be interesting. I wonder what Jimmy G gets from a suitor.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Ron Baker plays down the stretch over Rose and helps them beat Milwaukee. Ouch Rose is just so Rose. He'll get 18 points a night on 35% shooting.
