  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Or else they really have doomed themselves to another decade of failure. No team has gone into a decade of failure due to not getting one player. Not in baseball. There will be hundreds of opportunities for improvement.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:18 PM) The #1 prospect has never been traded before. In the deal for Chris Sale, he was part of a 4 player trade. The #1 prospect in an organization that has a championship caliber major league team which traded for a staff Ace. Your nonsense is off the rails.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) If not Bregman, they had better clean off Houston's next five top position player prospects. Really they need Bregman worse than ever. or else what?
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) Pick a trade. What would Aroldis Chapman drawn 10 years ago in a deadline deal? What would Andrew Miller have brought back? Neither brings back nearly as many prospects back then. The value of a closer is higher than ever thanks to the Royals winning in 2015. That's not evidence that prospects are worth less now. The fact is, you can't get a number of teams' prospects anymore. There are so many off limits players in every org now. Snap out of it, dude.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) It takes more and more of them than ever to get a deal done. 10 years ago, A Giolito would have gotten Eaton alone. Seriously, what sport are you watching? Prospects are as hard to get as ever.
  6. SS2K5, you are completely in left field on this. You don't rebuild by filling holes. You get as much talent as you can, regardless of position.
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) Totally unrelated note: If Frazier isn't bringing back a lot of interest because of his 1 year left, I'd be fine trying to work out a small extension for Frazier. I think it's important to have SOME sort of leadership in the clubhouse, especially when there are a ton of young guys around, and Frazier seems like he fits that bill. Again, that's only if he is down for playing "dad" and Hahn can't get good value. I could get on board with that. He's not as big of a problem as Sale, Eaton were. As moves are made, I become a little more open to whatever, just because the direction is all the more clear.
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Not sure how we do not consider this trade a win because we were going to suck the next two seasons at a minimum anyways. Eaton wouldn't have mattered. Shop Quintana for bats, or hell, keep him if you can't land what you want. Our farm system has completely changed in the last 36 hours from a bottom five to fringe top 10, possibly higher with another few moves 1) Moncada 2) Giolito 3) Kopech 4) Lopez 5) Collins 6) Fulmer 7) Burdi 8) Dunning 9) Adams 10) Basabe 11) Tilson 12) Engel 13) Hansen 14) Michaelczewski 15) Fisher That is a dramatically improved system The Nats absolutely lost this trade. They severely overvalued Eaton. Rick pantsed them.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) Now Renteria must be experiencing deja vu. The big question is who manages the next White Sox playoff team. Cleveland won't be able to hold their window open for more than two more years, three tops. And we're far ahead of the rest of the division in jumpstarting in two days...not to mention the pot of gold tv revenues that no other divisional team will have access to. This young team will be a much easier sell than the 2013-2016 version. Detroit is playing the role of past White Sox teams. Dangling the idea of rebuilding, but no go.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) Unless I live in Charlotte or Birmingham, nothing has changed. Yes, because no one ever gets promoted to the majors
  11. The Nationals are getting torched for this move by the media. Their press conference is clearly indicating they have been completely duped.
  12. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) I'm still not sure why you don't think this is a GOOD thing. They NEED to suck for a couple of seasons to get good players. That's how this game works. We're not going to outspend the contenders in payroll. He is actually Ken Williams
  13. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 4m4 minutes ago On other hand, one #Nationals player sent me this text: "WTF?!?!" Team still needs closer. Likely out on big two. Melancon, Davis off board. Bryce HarperVerified account ‏@Bharper3407 9m9 minutes ago Wow... Yeah, Bryce ain't happy. lol
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:57 PM) You'll be used to it soon enough. Fine. Give me three or four first round picks.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) No, it isn't. We still haven't fixed the main problem in this franchise. Yes, we have. We have a plan and Rick Hahn is clearly in charge. Both of the club's biggest problems solved. Also, the Duck Dynasty club is dead. Third biggest problem.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Hey great. Did you notice the emphasis on position players that they brought in? Did you notice the half a billion dollars they spent in free agency? Doesn't matter. A minor league asset is an asset. Particularly pitchers. The Cubs had a plethora of SS. A plethora of pitchers is nearly as valuable. AND MONCADA
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I don't think many systems can boast about having the best pitching and position player prospects in baseball. Just based off that alone, we're top 10, if not top 5. We lack depth in position player prospects, but I think Q can help with that. It's reasonable to say the Sox at pitching prospects are what the north sides were at shortstop a few short years ago
  18. Proud of the response from much of the White Sox fanbase. We all wanted a rebuild.
  19. Cowley's been out of the beat for a while, but he thinks these moves are more indicative of Hahn running the show.
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) #3 prospect, #38 prospect, and Nationals 1st Rounder in 2016 And people are upset?!?! Top Ten farm system. Almost has to be.
  21. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) Nightengale: So the #WhiteSox land the top position prospect and pitching prospect in a matter of 24 hours, and they haven't even traded Quintana yet Epic. I love the balls on this FO right now.
  22. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:21 PM) People are overthinking the rebuild if you're worried about not getting position players at the moment. Up until this coming deadline the goal should be to acquire as much talent as possible. The chips will fall into place after that. If in 2 years our "problem" is that we have too much talented young pitching it can be solved pretty easily. Starting pitching is always easy to move later. This is key. At the end of the day, you can't have too many of a good thing during a rebuild. Our 2020 rotation isn't set. These pieces strengthen the farm and add trade value. I'm not going to say this is a Kenny/Rick thing. All I'm going to say is it certainly looks like someone else is in charge.
  23. I like this trade. Creates the opportunity to move Q for bats.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:30 PM) Good Lord, everyone in here is delusional. On what planet do you think those two could net Turner ++? Another good reason to just have these moves happen already.
