  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) Not only that, but ones that are near major league ready. The less we develop these guys the better. This is both true and devastating. The waters are just so muddied in the minors.
  2. Devastated by the news. So sorry for your loss, Jeremy.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) If they deal both (really big if), I'm hoping one to Boston in a deal mostly centered for bats and then the other moved to the Dodgers in a deal centered around arms. I would rather get position prospects for each. The one thing this organization does well is draft arms. Draft the arms. Get other teams' positional talent.
  4. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) Sale for Mazara, Profar, Ortiz and Tate. Positively do not want Gallo or Brinson. That's a deal that won't get done right now, but I would do as well. Mazara is too much a piece of the Rangers for them to just ship him off now. At the end of the year, however.... QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) Profar and Mazara just hit back to back doubles Both are better young players than we have seen in a while, but I agree with the concerns over Profar's control. I still contend that if Gallo is a young Dunn, that's a compliment, because Dunn was really good as a young player.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) Sale and Q. We'd have a whole new lineup and farm system. definitely a farm system.
  6. Morneau gets a classy response from the Twins faithful. Nearly a home run.
  7. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Yeah but if a GM is on the verge of dealing for him but is still not 100% sure it could sway his final offer one way or another. If a GM bases his opinion of an ace pitcher on one start, they won't be general manager very long.
  8. Quintana escapes a double and an ugly error.
  9. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) trading Sale or Quintana to Cubs and watching either help them win the World Series would be the stupidest thing any Sox management person could do. not going to happen. Nor should it. You need to let that die right now. For the right package, you trade either Sale or Quintana. The stupidest thing any White Sox management person could do would be to let these guys reach the end of their contracts without moving them first.
  10. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Not really a debate, Trout has way more value. Even at $30 million a year he's an incredible bargain. This. Trout is untouchable.
  11. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:31 PM) Hawk has got to lose that Kansas city special line The White Sox have to lose Hawk.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) Profar has a career OPS of .685 so far. Gordon Beckham is .679. I don't know if it is injury related or what, but so far Profar has fallen very short of the hype. I believe he has struggled with a shoulder injury earlier in his career. I saw him at AAA Round Rock and he was easily the best player out there, but until this season he has definitely fallen short.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) Fulmer's had 2 bad games, I don't think it's fair to jump on the omgz he isn't ready bandwagon. I'd rather see him start in the minors than have him in the bullpen in the majors at this point.
  14. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) Hope Chris can pitch well and get the win. I really would like to see him win 20 this year. A month ago that looked like a given...now? Mark Obligatory "Pitching wins are meaningless" post. Because pitching wins are meaningless.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) If they keep Sale and Quintana, they won't rebuild and will try to compete next year. You have to try if you keep them. Right. For all the control the White Sox have over Sale and Quintana, it's still only a few seasons. If the White Sox tried to rebuild without moving either pitcher, they would be bad enough to waste all of the control and squander player value.
  16. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) I'm pretty confident they are standing pat or will make a minor selling move. I think they want to sell more but the buyers are being stubborn with prospects. Making no moves is a huge mistake for this organization.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) That game turned to s*** quickly. Oh well, we won the first two and you can't really expect more from a team mired in mediocrity. As a boring person once said, "We are what we are." 2-1 lead on the Cubs. Not bad. p.s. How come people were saying we won the Crosstown Cup after Game Two? Certainly they knew there were two games left? I didn't get that. There's an even number of games. Basically, if you have the cup and you win half the games, you "maintain" the cup. It's stupid. Important loss for us. This team is not going anywhere and we're better off not winning a bunch in a row to convince Rick Hahn otherwise.
  18. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) Profar, Mazara, Tate and whomever else Texas chose to throw in for Quintana wouldn't get it done for you? He's not paying attention. That's a lot of major league talent.
  19. Time for my annual, dang it just win. But we should sell. We may not, but we should
  20. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:13 PM) Like that song, the White Sox won't get fooled again. Sell baby sell. Agreed. This team isn't playoff caliber. Sell.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 11:31 AM) James Franklin has shoved his foot so far down this throat this week that its going to be hard to rip it out. James Franklin is the coach Penn State deserves. Glad BOB found greener pastures in Houston.
  22. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) Yes I meant more when they feel they need for Garcia to bat. Which should probably be never
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Jose has been disappointing, no doubt about it. But even the 2016 version is an above average bat making below average salary for a 1B. He's been a problem because we expected him to be better, but Jose is not THE problem with this team. I would be down with him DHing a bit more often, his glove seems to have gotten worse. Jose in his current state accentuates the bigger issues with this team, but I agree he's not responsible for the lion share of the problem.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:53 PM) We don't really know that. They haven't committed to blowing it up. They're open minded and listening. That's all we know. What if they go 5-2 this week? They can easily change their mind and buy or stand pat. I was mostly joking. However, weekly records don't matter. What does matter is the number of games back. If the Sox go 5-2 and gain like 2 games in the division, you still sell. Reason being, you would have to go 5-2 for a long time to really get back into this and this team has shown they are incapable of playing at that kind of level.
