  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Hue Jackson has to be pumped. Now they have 20 receivers. Too bad there are illegal formations. I would love to see Cleveland run 9 wide.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) I'm ok if we sweep this series and then play .200 baseball for the rest of the year, thus securing a top draft pick I'm in on that s***
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Cub fans and insecure Sox fans are the big ones. Some guy at a stop light in Austin flagged my attention to show me his Cubs tattoo. We spray for out of town Cubs fans, but they keep coming back.
  4. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Starting pitching is in "great" shape for the Cubs series isn't it? Mark It's been a while since I've been in Chicago, but do most fans really care about this series? I was called out multiple times yesterday for my White Sox hat, but most of the Cubs fans I know here just don't seem to care much.
  5. I'm torn. The good news is, I don't think there's any amount of games we can win which would cause Hahn to change how he feels about this team. I still am a little worried that winning this series will hurt our rebuild chances.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:49 AM) Yankees just raked the Cubs over the coals with the return they are getting. I don't care if you do have excess prospects. You still have to be careful when dealing. When your major league lineup is that solid, you move minor league prospects for pitching.
  7. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:25 AM) This trade reminds me of the 2014 A's overpaying for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel because they had the BRIB and wanted to gear up for the postseason. That was misguided too. Just because you perceive that your very good team has a need doesn't mean you need to pay out the ass for it. Yeah, but with the A's they didn't have a lineup full of 24-27 year olds. What made the Oakland trade so bad was the fact that the A's had this one shot to go for it and they blew it.
  8. When your major league talent is so young and your farm system is deep, you can afford to overpay for these kinds of players.
  9. QUOTE (y2chae @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) I think the right move for the organization is to trade Sale. It's the best solution for both parties. I'm inclined to agree, but this has nothing to do with it.
  10. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) That's an absolute haul for a rental player. Even if extension is on the table, Yanks are winning this one. Just reaffirms that someone will overpay for Q/Sale this deadline and Sox best not flinch. With the Cubs bullpen woes, I can't blame them for overspending.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:47 AM) Great post. I've had enough of whiny Cubs fans on my Twitter timeline. They are crying about adding a bad guy that throws 103 mph to a team that they root for. They don't have to hang with him and I've heard he's actually a good teammate. f*** off and enjoy the playoff run and get off the high horse. It's entertainment. I'm sure none of these people have a problem paying money to see a Johnny Depp film. I don't follow Sarah Spain or Julie DiCaro but their dumbass thoughts keep entering my timeline. A few things on that: 1) It's refreshing that a fanbase that previously honored a scumbag like Bobby Hull now is suspicious of Aroldis Chapman. 2) There is something a little messed up about selling a women's size Chapman shirt considering he was accused of choking a woman and brandishing a firearm and firing it 8 times in his garage. 3) I think your point is still a good one. A baseball team is going to work with the players available and the Cubs have a need. If the MLB isn't actively disciplining Chapman, he's a baseball player in good standing. I think the problem in Chicago Sports Media when it comes to these kinds of issues is there seems to be polar opposites, when in reality the middle is most reasonable. Yes, he's a s***head. Yes, it's weird that women can buy jerseys of an alleged domestic abuser. No, I don't blame the Cubs for trading for him.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Nobody has ever complained it was unfair to pay Keppinger, Bonifacio, Rollins or Morneau, etc., those salaries. On the other hand, Alexei was underpaid quite clearly...until they corrected it. At any rate, it continues the emerging storyline the Sox are not focused due to peripheral/off the field issues, when getting back into the Wild Card race would have been the sole driver for a winning organization. All we seem to get these days are distractions, and not entirely positive ones. This distraction argument never holds any water. When Drake LaRoche was a major distraction, the team started out 23-10. Only after that did the wheels fall off (no noticeable distractions). You're trying and failing to connect two things that don't matter. Baseball players are human beings. They don't only focus on baseball. If they feel like this Mariners system is a scam (it is), I applaud them for acting.
  13. IMHO, this practice by the Mariners should be illegal. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, tips are the property of a tipped employee. While this is normally applied to restaurant workers and the like, this feels like the same situation. The White Sox did the right thing here. They're not tipping the Mariners, they're tipping their employees.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 06:56 AM) Anyone hear the Heyman interview on Mulley & Hanley this morning? My Cubs buddy claims he said that Quintana gets you half of what Sale does. Can anyone verify that? If true, then definitely deal Sale and hold onto Q. I don't know about half. The name isn't as big, but the control is longer.
  15. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) Um.... so what happens in 3 years when they're still nowhere near a world series and won't give either $25+ million a year? No offense dude but that sounds like Kenny Williams. There's no answer for this. Both Q and Sale are likely gone at the end of their contract. And no, Sale's value can never be higher. His years of control add more value than another good season would add.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) That's silly. If they offered Bryant and bunch more I bet they would. Saw this don't know if it was posted @AdamMKaufman IF Chris Sale is traded, @StokkeTommy believes #RedSox are favorites to land him and would require Moncada, Benintendi AND Kopech..at least Funny. Delusional Red Sox fans think sale isn't worth that and one said with sale has diminishing velocity. Man Twitter fans are among the worst. Twitter is just a cesspool. It's a different conversation, but the whole thing is a disaster.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Oh good lord. Delete your account. Lots of us having our patience tested.
  18. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) Feels like this sabotages any potential trade (at least for the time being) uh...Why? It shouldn't matter.
  19. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) We agree on this one. Feels weird.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Strong management wouldn't let it get to this. Drake Laroche never would have had access under real leadership, such that there would have never had to have been cut off. There are a lot of personalities in baseball. Deal with them. Seriously...
  21. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) The uniform story is bulls*** FYI https://twitter.com/barstoolWSD/status/757004760323018752 I'm seriously sick of barstoolWSD.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) So Rosenthal said he didn't want to wear the uni because it is uncomfortable, which I totally get. Those things look janky as hell. Honestly, I don't like them either. The current look is a modern classic. But that doesn't excuse vandalism.
  23. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) Well considering he's been underpaid for a while... I guess they're even? He's not underpaid. he signed a contract.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Does everyone prefer Profar or Odor? Was thinking about making a thread about that fir hypothetical purposes of course. It's hard to compare them right now, as Profar has a much smaller body of work. Profar was a highly sought after guy who looks like he is finally coming into his own. I think the Rangers value Odor a bit more, but I would take either.
  25. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Honestly wearing torn up jerseys would be pretty awesome That would be hilarious.
