QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) I'd rather have Hawk back as GM instead of RH or KW. Ah, to be a young Sox fan again. Seriously, know your history. That was a disaster. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) I'm not saying KW would do any better than RH. It's time to look outside of the organization for someone that can get the job done. Agreed. Teams are building small armies of stats and sabremetrics specialists with complex supercomputers to help them make the right decisions. Find an assistant in one of those organizations and start over. -

Do the White Sox know they're playing the Angels? -
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 17, 2016 -> 01:02 PM) Stanton was hitting 230. Got a beef with him doing it too? Stanton doesn't play for the White Sox. Frazier does. I see where this is coming from.

Jamie Benn 8 years $76 million. Good deal for Dallas.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) He'll be gone if he doesn't make the tournament. Beilen had 3 tournament appearances and a B1G title though 5 seasons. Situations not too comparable. They probably can't fire him if he recruits the hell out of the next couple of classes. He makes so many top 5s of some really good talent. He got a verbal commitment from two top guys one year that changed their minds the last day. Recruiting is everything in CBB. If he sucks with Goodwin, JT, etc, he's definitely fired.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 03:41 PM) Bernstein had Anthony Lubrano (not sure of his exact affiliation, but he's a Penn State "Paterno-Phile") on 7/12. It's really a good example of what I don't like about Bernstein. He basically ambushes Lubrano and won't let him speak because he's not in full lock step with Bernstein. I'm not defending Lubrano's stance - I really don't know anything about him. However, if a guest has the courtesy to call, he should at least be allowed to speak. They go back and forth for a little while. Bernstein makes a few personal attacks. Yet, Lubrano, at the end, offers to meet with Bernstein when Lubrano comes to Chicago. Bernstein accepted, but my guess is that he won't actually meet with Lubrano. Lubrano's defense of Joe Paterno basically hinges on the fact that Joe Paterno died before he could face trial. That's not good enough to excuse him of all of his crimes. He harbored a monster for years.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) Just because one person doesn't know what a Banana Hammock is doesn't mean you too have be wrong. Feel free to google it, the internet is REALLY cool for easily found information. EDIT: Yay! You finally googled it! Everyone got to see in real time a person realize that a thong and a penis aren't the same thing. This was truly heartwarming. Read that again. Proofread your burns, child.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) Why do you spend your time on a Sox board? Serious question. Because I grew up in Chicago, I'm a White Sox fan. I don't hate the Cubs but I recognize they are really good. Honestly, I like to talk about baseball.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 10:24 AM) I'm now 100% convinced that Deadpool is a closet Cubs fan. Because I care what you think.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) I want to say there was discussions about a 6/100 deal when he was with Cincy still. If that's the going rate, the White Sox probably shouldn't pay him, which kind of forces a trade situation. I don't want to trade him, either, but I get why they would.

All-star gamethread: American League vs. National League

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 12:04 AM) I CAN NOT WAIT for David Ortiz to retire. On the broadcast they said he is "Everything a superstar is and should be"....oh...you mean like a PED user??? Real f***ing nice. That whole 2004 Red Sox team was so tainted. It makes me so mad because the 2005 White Sox were essentially PED-free (maybe Pablo Ozuna). -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 07:10 AM) This is the same guy who claimed the Cubs could trade for Trout with a handful of prospects, being called out for dumb arguments is not the same as bullying. It's actually a violation of forum guidelines. It's specifically written in them. Calling someone's argument "dumb" is attacking their viewpoint. Fine, I'm wrong. Tell me why, don't say "This is the dumbest thing I have ever read", because that's clearly NOT what Soxtalk.com is about. And if you think my post is dumb, go read the Penn State scandal thread from when Paterno died. A lot of people showed their behinds that day.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 01:31 AM) If you think a thong is a penis, then I've got a book for you... Do a google search for it. Post a picture of one on this board. See what happens. It's a violation of forum guidelines, actually

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 07:10 AM) This is the same guy who claimed the Cubs could trade for Trout with a handful of prospects, being called out for dumb arguments is not the same as bullying. Tell me where I said the Cubs don't want home field. I'll wait. NL lost, fine. Take the extra bat. In fairness, the Cubs could offer a pretty large handful of MLB ready prospects. Wilson Contreras was a prospect back then. The Angels weren't likely to move him anyway. History has been horrible for teams that trade HOFers.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 06:13 AM) Lol dude...you are a compete joke. Maybe because it means they're playing at home, which to anyone who actually follows sports knows provides a competative advantage. Or maybe because if their pitcher is batting, it means their AL counterpart is losing a more important hitter from their lineup or weakening a defensive position. But you're right, Javier Baez is better than Davis Ortiz or Edwin Encarcion. The only good news from this implosion is it has proven you're a Cubs fan once and for all. It's long been speculated, but you toned down your completely biased Cubs views for a while when you switched your name from AustinSox to Deadpool. But arguing against home field advantage and then being a total dick to fellow Sox fans when you get called out is the final nail in the coffin. We are still in a Cubs thread. Talking about THE CUBS. You haven't met me, you don't know anything about me, and my fandom is none of your business. The fact that the Cubs are more compelling has nothing to do with the White Sox. And how appropriate is it that the most pathetic bully on soxtalk is literally named "Chicago White Sox"? It's like JR hired you to troll the Cubs discussion. Except, JR wouldn't do that because JR doesn't care about the Cubs because he's not delusional.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 01:31 AM) If you think a thong is a penis, then I've got a book for you... That makes you look so much smarter. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 7, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) I would like my display name to be "MrBananaHammock7". Thank you. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2016 -> 09:17 AM) What reason would there be for your screen name essentially to be "penis"?
-
Seriously, why would a team like the Cubs EVER want to bat their pitcher? Every game they bench a top prospect because they have to let the pitcher bat.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:33 PM) This makes no sense. Of course they want home field advantage if they can get it. 6 of last 7 teams with home field advantage won the WS Sure, but they have the lineup to take advantage of the DH slot. If we are going off meaningless correlation, 5 of the last 7 WS teams have been in the NL. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) LOL!! Yeah, right...the Cubs (or ANY NL team for that matter) didn't want home field advantage "IF" they get to the World Series. Give me a break. You really are completely consumed by the hype, so much so that you come up with some nonsensical bullcrap when 6 of the last 7 World Series' have been won by the team with home field advantage. Go read some more comic books. #rentfree Hashtags? Your mom called, she said you should be in bed. Get to your porn porn and let the adults talk. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) Wow...just a terrible post. Maybe you should start trolling Red Sox & Blue Jays message boards with this nonsense and see how quickly you get ripped apart. The Cubs are built like a dangerous AL type team. Whatever dude. Go cry in your name's irrelevance while Rick goes and trades for Carlos Beltran. Admit it, your brain shuts off when you talk about the Cubs. Go cry about the White Sox in the entire board dedicated to it. We are here to talk about the Cubs, a team that would benefit more from the DH than many other teams in the NL QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 11:48 PM) Might be one of the dumber things I've seen on here in a while. you literally tried to change your name to penis and you think I'm dumb?
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) Unlike the Sox, the game actually means something for the cubs. You're right, because if the NL loses, the Cubs get a DH to bolster their lineup for an extra game in the World Series. That's assuming a lot, of course. The Cubs couldn't really lose this game.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) can I take the "RIP" off this title? I hope Paterno is in hell for what he did in the name of football success Seems appropriate. "The Joe Paterno Situation" "Penn State Scandal Catch-all"
-
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) "justice" will be done for Jose when the White Sox score some damn runs when he pitches. /s Kappa Pitching wins don't matter. Ever. Separate pitching performance from pitching wins.

The concern is that Frazier is going to ask for a lot of money in arbitration, right? Somewhat understandable as power numbers are sexy, but he doesn't really hit for average. He leads the league in popups and is getting killed by the shift this year. I wouldn't want the Sox to sell on him yet, but I get that the home runs tend to hide a good-not-great player.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) So if Arrieta does not start he is taking his ball and going home. If Sale weren't starting, I would want him to do the same thing.
