Best stick with this format if you're the MLB. This is actually good stuff compared to watching batters take pitch after pitch they don't like.

QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) Who said anything about stats? Walks aren't "advanced baseball knowledge". They're common sense. A BA of .300 is good, but a OBP of .300 really isn't. His OBP needs to improve. Walk more.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) Wow Frazier... I feel bad for underestimating him. Hope this doesn't f*** up his second half. There's a lot of data to suggest players in the HRD have worse second halves than their first halves. The problem is, I have never seen comparison to how that compares to the average MLB player OR the average All-Star.

Frazier. Jesus

QUOTE (hawksfan61 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) How are you not on TV with this sick combination of advanced baseball knowledge, snarky jokes, and ability to always keep it real and not be one of those yucky "fans"? Hope you got a Costco membership, bulk buying Jergens is in your best interests financially at the rate you're burning through it every time someone says the C word. The walk hasn't been an "advanced stat" in like 100 years, but thanks for playing.

If Jordan Goodwin commits to Illinois, Groce is safe for a while. It's the trick in recruiting. Illinois has been on a lot of top lists (heck, they got a verbal commitment from Alexander and Snider committed to Illinois publicly). All you have to do is land one. Just ask Michigan. That program sucked for years and it took Beilein multiple bad seasons to right the ship.

QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) Interesting article http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/sure-ju...all-star-break/ I agree with this... And they get one of the best teams in baseball after the break

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) Just going to add that the two best pitchers over the last 2 weeks have far and away been Shields and Gonzalez. That's a serious problem, especially given the importance of these last few series. If anything, I'll take that as somewhat encouraging, as you know long term Q and Sale are going to snap out of it.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 06:28 AM) Kyle Hendricks career line: .076/.116/.086. They deserve all the credit for what a great "HITTER " they developed there Hard-hitting analysis! Cubs pitchers can't bat. This argument would be so funny if it weren't so sad.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) In fact, I wouldn't even give them credit for Russell. He spent 61 games in their minor league system, 180+ in Oakland's. But honestly, just graduating all those other guys is quite impressive on it's own, even if Soler and Baez and Contreras and Almora only turn out of be average major leaguers or role players. The worst part is we would be a lot better with Baez, Contreras, and Almora.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) DEVELOPMENT ISN'T THE KEY. IT'S IDENTIFYING TALENT...especially if it's undervalued. SEE Quentin, Floyd, Danks, Alexei, Quintana, Abreu, Eaton, Nate Jones, Addison Reed, Hector Santiago, Sergio Santos, etc. The problem is we haven't been very good at it, by and large, since the 2008 playoff team...and going on 7-8 years now. You forgot the IN THE DRAFT part. It is critical we find talent in the field IN THE DRAFT. Tim Anderson is a good start (although he walks less than Bran Stark). That needs to happen ALL THE TIME.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) I'm kinda drunk. But did he say anything that was incorrect? First of all, he gave the Cubs credit for Rizzo, which is kind of strange because they traded for him. Secondly, he assumed regression among all the other players he "gave credit for" which is a little silly because neither Soler or Baez are getting regular plate appearances. To say the farm system isn't developing isn't an argument, it's just stupidity.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 10, 2016 -> 09:24 PM) You keep saying this but what hitting prospects have they developed? Bryant and Schwarber were ready out of college I'll give credit for Rizzo but he was already a stud in other orgs. Russell has improved but hes not a great hitter yet. Zobrist and Fowler were 30+ year old free agents Baez and Soler haven't lived up to expectations yet. Contreras does look good so far but that's one guy and the league can still adjust. Tell me honestly: When you write this nonsense down, are you paid by the word? We get it, you don't like the Cubs.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 11:32 PM) Contreras is another hot head punk to hate on for years. He looks fantastic.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) I don't totally know what it means, but they do not have Bird rights on Durant. My understanding is they basically can't keep Iggy if the cap is 102 and they take close to the max. Having Bird rights basically means you have the right to re-sign a free agent EVEN if it means going over the cap. So, because the Golden State Warriors do not have Bird rights for KD, they must clear out $35 million in cap space to re-sign him to a max contract. My understanding is GSW has to clear the space first (Iggy), then sign KD, THEN sign Curry, as the Warriors do have Curry's Bird rights.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) It's going to be all worth it once the Cubs get worked in the playoffs. Why? We'll be all Bears well before then
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) And, could the White Sox fans/front office ever live with helping the Cubs win the World Series? The FO certainly only cares about the White Sox. They're not paid to help or not help the Cubs.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 08:33 AM) Stan Bowman was out watching Vesey yesterday. Swoop him in Stan! Vesey-Toews-Hossa Panarin-Anisomov-Kane Panik-Kruger Schmaltz Desjardins-Rasmussen-Hartman Tootoo, Mashinter Garbage first line.
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) And if that fails, Rondo and Boogie are tight. I doubt the mutual second year option for Rondo is in the Bulls' future plans. I would expect that Rondo walks in order to make room for two max contracts
-
2 years, $47 million. It's "fine". Nothing special, as he's 35, but at least he didn't get that third year.

for those of you who lament Hawks stupidity...

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) Dan Bernstein disagrees with you. So does Fangraphs. They rank Hawk/Stoney the worst in the game. By contrast, Jason and Stoney are 19th. The difference is Hawk, as he is broadcast garbage. -
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) No doubt, I'm just personally over it as a fan. GSW can keep building up, and Lebron can keep playing in the East where he can take the last 15 games of the year off and cruise to the finals. Then the fun debates continue about whether Golden State is the best team of all time and whether Lebron is the GOAT. Yeah unfortunately that's the game until they harden the cap. I don't think that will ever happen, though. Remember, Michael Jordan made more money than certain playoff teams late in his career. We Bulls fans rode the soft cap for a good portion of MJ's career.
-
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) The NBA is so lame now. Two all star teams and then everyone else, and all because players are purposely building them up for rings. I'm not hating on Durant for joining the Warriors or Lebron for starting this Superstar team-building idea. It just makes the NBA so blah... It feels that way, but those ESPN GSW games are going to break all kinds of records

I really don't care if the Bulls are being used for leverage. Make Miami overpay Wade.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) I want to believe the Bulls have a chance at Russ but I know they don't. They never land a big fish. They don't land big fish, but in this league they have to try.
