  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) Spiegel seems like one of the more forgiving people in the business but yeah, he also knows when to draw the line with people too. I never understood why Mac was so popular in radio though, he never brought anything to the table where I thought to myself...damn thats a good point. Not that the other guys bring that very often but they many of them are at least capable. The old Mac, Jurko, and Harry show was tolerable in small doses, but it wasn't all that good.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) Mac is toxic, the Score doesnt need that guy. You cant count on the guy I'm inclined to agree. I'm over him, too.
  3. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Herb Lawrence thinks that McNeil will wind up back at the Score it seems. Terry Boers is retiring in January 2017 so there will be a spot open somehow. One of the afternoon or evening guys will probably move over with Bernstein and that will open up something. The Score is always trying to shake things up so who knows. If I had to guess, you go with Goff and Bernstein (Spiegel doesn't much agree with Goff) and then put Mac back. That, of course, still seems unlikely, seeing as I'm not sure the hatchet can be buried between McNeil and Spiegel after the first collapse.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) Yes, unfortunately he is still the manager. That was fantastic. Thanks for that.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 10:10 AM) I have the same feeling. There hasn't been many hitting prospects to really be excited about. Even Trayce was pretty much whatever. I think Beckham may have been the last one that made people excited and while he was great that year, initially he struggled. Before that it was like Josh Fields, I think. Difference is, everyone thought Fields was ready and he was worse than Beckham.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) Jesus. He gets paid so much to talk on the fricking radio and can't keep a gig without being an ass. Just do your job. And I feel like he won't get a shot on the score... or WMVP. I mean, i'm not sure, but I can't imagine either or those bridges being anything but burned down.
  7. QUOTE (Saufley @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) Not inconsistent. If I am not mistaken, Einhorn, when his group purchased the Sox, said the Sox were going to be run more professionally. This franchise now is more of a joke that at the time it was purchased from Bill Veeck. I appreciate that sentiment, but that was a lifetime ago.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Or... And this might be crazy... But the White Sox trust Hostetler. You and your Occam's razor. Caulfield, I appreciate your enthusiasm either way.
  9. Don't take this the wrong way, but this post is all over the place and hard to read. I'm skeptical he's a big league catcher, but unlike in the NL, we can do a lot with a converted catcher.
  10. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Take your Sox hatred blinders off. This is absolutely the right move to make. The guy won a batting title two years ago and was hitting over .300 last year before he was hurt. $1 million is chump change in MLB. If he sucks you cut him loose, no big loss. How were his home/road splits in Colorado? That's always a concern with Rockies players.
  11. Dan McNeil exits the Drive No surprises there. I wonder where he's going to try to go now
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) I love how ONE MILLION DOLLARS is nothing anymore in sports. Damn I wish I could stumble my way into ONE MILLION DOLLARS. It reminds me of the Stooges episode where Shemp is counting money. "One hundred, one hundred, one hundred, 20. How'd this 20 get in here?" Crumbles it up and throws it on the ground, all three pause then dive on the 20. One million bucks is nada like u said. Well, the guy has earned $100,595,000 in his career. So yeah, I wish I could stumble upon $1,000,000, too
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) What took you so long to join Soxtalk, prodigal son? He's actually Rick Hahn. He was just waiting until it was pretty clear he'd be fired.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) So they trade him away in ST and then get him back 2 months later? Isn't Alcantara still a somewhat decent prospect? That's why I'm not quite sure I like this move. Of all the Cubs prospects, he looked the most like a replacement level player, but I still wouldn't trade him for a nobody like Coghlan.
  15. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Well, at least Morneau doesn't cost them $30M. And I'll take this over the symbolic sacrifice of the manager. Symbolic anything is becoming unfulfilling anyway. I want Robin gone, but the rest of the org should be shown the door as well.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) The Cubs are staying relaxed while meeting lofty expectations (barf) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/16068846...ty-expectations Whatever it is, it's working. Although being good at baseball probably helps. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) #Cubs today acquired OF Chris Coghlan from the #Athletics for INF Arismendy Alcantara. Not sure I love this move, but they have so much depth it doesn't really matter.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) The White Sox organization is such a joke. I agree to a certain extent, but this move has nothing to do with any of that. Signing a guy for $1,000,000 isn't too bad. It's the trading young guys for bad vets that gets to me.
  18. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Had this conversation with somebody else yesterday--when sports franchises are this abysmal for this long, it points to one thing ultimately: the owners. Sadly, I think nothing changes as long as JR owns the team and keeps employing people like KW. Especially in an ownership structure where the boss has such influence on the baseball side of the business. Jerry's loyalty is a big problem, IMHO. It's polluting the baseball side.
  19. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:34 PM) These moves just scream KW .... shows he is still in charge I mean maybe, but it's not a big deal. It's comparatively no money.
  20. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) Holy s***, we are going to pay him like $700K. Why is anyone upset over this? The dude hit .310 last year. In 2014, he hit .309 away from Coors. I don't get "mad" about the signing, but we all realize that Morneau cannot play for a month or so and by then we seem to think it won't matter.
  21. Similarity Score for Justin Morneau. Looking forward to Drake Morneau in the locker room to provide leadership. Adam LaRoche (928) Cliff Floyd (922) Mike Sweeney (917) Aubrey Huff (916) Dolph Camilli (913) Hal Trosky (912) Bill Skowron (911) Prince Fielder (909) Ryan Klesko (897) George Bell (895)
  22. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Given that he won't be available for another month or so, it simply may not matter by then realistically. You give them points for trying but as someone else posted the real question is how did they get into this position in the first place? Mark Agreed. This is a non-signing. We'll be well out by then in all likelihood.
  23. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) I'd rather have a broken down Morneau in the lineup than either Avisail Garcia or Jimmy Rollins. I'd rather have DL Morneau than either Avi or Rollins. No rehab, no help. Just pick up a bat.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) I take it you think Kenny is out of the player procurement game? Leaving it all to Hahn? Kenny has said more than once that Hahn does not hold the keys to the team.
  25. Too bad we can't have the 2006 2016 White Sox. Morneau gives me an "old and bad" vibe.
