QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) This cap situation really has the potential to finally do in the Hawks. Maybe, but if they can just continue to make the playoffs, they still have a shot with their top end talent. I still maintain their core is too big by one Seabrook. Panarin next season is going to be tough to pay.

I made a stupid reply to a stupid thread. You got me. The White Sox have been bad. it's not "momentum" or anything like that. When you don't get on base, you don't win.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) I would be furious if they move Teravainen in a cap dump. He could probably fetch you a solid young defenseman by himself if we were going that route. I'm surprised a cap floor team won't take a chance with Bickell for one year, unless they don't want to help the Hawks out. But moving cost controlled assets is not the way to go. All the teams know the Blackhawks are in a bind and already missing pieces. No one is just going to take Bickell without something to sweeten the deal.

Momentum is only as good as your next starting pitcher

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) FWIW, you just asked greg to be rational. I deserved what I got. My mistake.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:16 PM) Please, fellow Sox fans, get off the Renteria bandwagon. Please. If he is the interim, keep Robin the rest of the season. Then quietly let Robin fade away with no new contract. Just say no to Renteria. Please explain.

ESPN reporting the Blackhawks are struggling to move Brian Bickell (no kidding). The kicker is, the name teams want in order to take the bad money is Teuvo Teravainen. This would be a mega loser trade.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 07:25 PM) It really hasn't. no manager would have won games with the 2013-2015 White Sox. But keep kidding yourselves, It's like you're watching a different team. You know it's time to fire a manager when the argument for keeping him is "Manager just isn't that important"

I'll join in. Sounds like good fun.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Didn't Greg already guarantee the Cubs' World Series title? At least 3? That's realistically the only thing standing in their way at this point... This Cubs team in this National league should have a couple of WS appearances. I'm not guaranteeing it, but we all need to get over the Cubs real fast. They're not going away.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 12:08 AM) Being that the uniform is only being worn to honor the Negro League, I am not certain what the point is in criticizing it. Did you only read the first post of this thread?

Padres Can't Stop Being Sadder Than the White Sox
Bananarchy replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 08:07 AM) Comparing the Sox and Padres Interesting comparison between how bad the Padres have been compared to the Sox, despite both teams trying to compete by going all in over the last few years. I can't open the link, but this is a common comparison. We're in the "lightning in a bottle" mode, where we reload every year. It just doesn't work when you can't draft everyday big leaguers. Regardless of what you think about a "full rebuild", the White Sox have to draft positional talent better or none of this is going to work. -
QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Stop it. They are not getting that far. If that happens i will have to leave chicago until its over! haha Start your long vacation plans now. If not this year, then soon.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) The regular season is going to be a cake walk for the Cubs. They will have to play great AND hope that luck falls their way in the playoffs. You have to have both happen. Run and hide, don't get hurt. That's the Cubs this season.

I love our pinstripe look, but this is fine.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) Are you really making another random Silicon Valley reference? Please tell me I'm completely off-base here. Well you are the Chicago White Sox, so you probably suck at base running.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:31 AM) Neither option is very good. Latos: 4.02 ERA, 5.28 FIP, .268 BABIP Gonzalez 4.09 ERA, FIP 4.54, BABIP .327 In Comparison Shields: 4.28 ERA 4.41 FIP. Last start did hurt a lot. The BABIP number makes me want Gonzalez, as I would expect that number to regress toward the mean BABIP in baseball. But you're right, it's a real rock and a hard place situation.

Report: Rangers getting new ballpark
Bananarchy replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) Indoor baseball sucks but when it's 100 like that, you just can't sit and watch a baseball game. It's baking in the sun. Indoor does kind of suck, but it's preferable to rain delays or extreme heat. No baseball is the worst -
Year ban is fine. No need for lifetime ban. He didn't throw games, after all.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) I believe rosenthal speculated 162 games Multiple outlets saying the same thing. I hate that guy.
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) Comparisons between the sox and cubs have existed as long as the teams have and will continue to do so. Weird thing to jump on. Doesn't make it any less stupid. Classy move by the Cubs to let Scully sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) The team is not terrible. They had a bad couple weeks, it happens. Out of the 7 game losing streak, 5 were by one or two runs. As it is they are on pace to win 86 games which should have them right in the hunt. Also you are the first person to mention trolling in this thread. Asking where the ignore button is is trolling or accusing someone of trolling. It's complete garbage.

Saladino could be getting more time at SS
Bananarchy replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:28 AM) I told everyone this the day we signed Rollins But in all seriousness, the fact that we all knew that Saladino > Rollins so early is pretty sad. Rollins for $2 million was a gamble, but you can't give him to an idiot like Robin. Period. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) Rangers are going to have to think long and hard if they want to trade Profar and Gallo for another starting pitcher. Tough call. As long as they're in 1st place, they won't have the pressure to do so. But the Mariners are giving them a run for their money so far. Depends on what they want to do with CF. If Profar can seriously play the position (i have my doubts), they probably won't move him. Also, the bigger thing if you're the Rangers is what to do with Prince Fielder. He has that big contract, but that's not a reason to play him if he's bad.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) Why are you comparing the Sox and the Cubs though as if they are in the same division or even the same league? There is no correlation other than sharing the same city. Because Soxtalk. Apparently most people here can't take the ribbing they get from Cubs fans around the water cooler.
