  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) KW at least has been successful at getting White Sox fans to turn on each other for not supporting the team...instead of focusing their anger at the most appropriate targets. That's been his biggest accomplishment by far the last five years or so, protecting his job. Seriously, though. When does fandom get fun? It's like you knew they were going to blow the lead but you didn't want to believe it.
  2. Mismanagement. Robin's forte. It makes me so angry, too because I loved him as a player.
  3. Worst run team I can remember. How is JR okay with this? Fans will voice their frustration with their wallets which will swiftly be criticized by White Sox brass At least the Dollar Bill Blackhawks could draft
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 26, 2016 -> 06:34 PM) Can you replace a guy on the roster when suspended? I don't believe so, but Jurickson Profar will replace Odor at 2nd.
  5. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ May 26, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Outside of batting Rollins second, RV has done little to contribute to this team's sucktitude over the past couple of weeks. Except he can't manage the bullpen, his lineups sucks, and he calls for too many bunts. He's a detriment to the organization.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 26, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) In other MLB news, Odor suspension reduced by one game. They replace him with Jurickson Profar? Not too shabby
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 26, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Art Briles gets the boot at Baylor. About damn time. That dude should never get another coaching job Agreed. There's no room for this nonsense in collegiate athletics. Admins were going after complainers. It's a horror story. This and the Penn State thing are both death penalty worthy.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 25, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Huh? I don't know what I was thinking.
  9. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 25, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) I really hope this year proves to be the year these types of threads eat crow. I'm unbiased and just will wait to see. It would take years of success for that to happen. Heck, Blackhawk boards like this are a bloodbath with people calling for Bowman's head continually.
  10. The worry is when you look at a team like Houston, which has failed to turn the "bottom up" method into sustained success. The Cubs have had a ridiculous amount of success with their front office moves. Russell and Rizzo are guys they didn't draft. I get your frustration. I want a new story, too. I'm tired of years of bad, too.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 25, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Beckham had under 250 ABs before being called up to the majors. Anderson has 1300 ABs A little bit different here lol Not ready is not ready. Can you believe Beckham has been our best defensive draft pick since 2006? YIKES
  12. Let's rush him up so he can flounder like Gordon Beckham.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) I was hoping this thread was sarcasm but I guess some or one is serious about this, eh? I can't tell either. "Fire Robin" is fine, but 2007 was Ozzie.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 05:45 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-don...WQDBHNlYwNzYw-- What was the thing about turning down a charity event/appearance? All the dirty laundry coming out now in the offseason. Bet Hoiberg wishes he stayed at ISU, well, except for that fat contract. But was it really worth it in the end to leave being the Mayor of Ames to being ridiculed, second-guessed and undermined in Chicago? Noah not coming back is good news. He's done. And yes, it was still worth leaving Ames to come to Chicago.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) We have fielding talent, lol. Jackson, Sanchez, Saladino, C.Rondon...just not the necessary combination of both offensive/defensive talent. I mean all around talented position players who can hit.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Let's see. Sandberg as manager. Rafael Palmeiro as hitting coach, Greg Maddux to replace Cooper. Andre Dawson outfield/baserunning coach, asst. hitting instructor. Sosa can do something if Man-Ram can with the Cubs. Maybe Rick Sutcliffe or Joe Carter can have roles as well. That would at least annoy Cubs' fans. Lou Brock and Fergie Jenkins as ambassadors to replace Skowron and Minoso, too. At least Ryne has experience. It's no more asinine than bringing Ozzie back.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) Drake LaRoche would be another option. Since apparently school isn't cool or fun. And Harold Baines as manager would have the quietest press conferences of any manager in MLB history. What was that again, Harold? Heck, give me Sandberg. At least the guy has an experience...albeit with a garbage organization at the time.
  18. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 25, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) Like clockwork. As long as Williams is in the front office, it's the Williams/Hahn front office and they are both at fault.
  19. Why do we have to choose between a bad manager and an alcoholic. Hire a real manager. Heck, give Renteria a shot.
  20. Just makes me more annoyed we can't find any fielding talent. Before I get flamed, I meant we can't draft fielding talent.
  21. Nomar Mazara (age 21) just hit a 491 footer at Globe Life Park. Holy crap.
  22. When you consider it from a heat factor, there was a summer a few years back where it was over 100 for 100 days in a row. If that's going to be the weather, I get why the Rangers would want an indoor facility. It's a lot of money, but it almost has to be done. That's a ridiculous number of scorching games where weather drives fans away from the ballpark. I love GLP as well.
  23. QUOTE (Tex @ May 25, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Which tosses all the intangibles out the window. There is no such thing as momentum, confidence, etc. We play the games with humans, not computer models. Humans bring emotion and character to whatever they do. Do the players get up just a little more knowing who is on the mound? Do they feel like they owe it to some pitchers? While I agree wins are not THE best measure of a pitcher, but spend some time coaching and you see how much emotion can change things. What does a pitching win measure well? Nothing. Human or otherwise, a pitching win is meaningless.
  24. QUOTE (Tex @ May 25, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) It seemed like more of a comment on how the Cubs get all the press and the Sox are shuffled to second team status. Which is true for most of the country. Here in Texas, despite having AL teams, people think of the Cubs when they think Chicago baseball. Same in more areas of the country. Because so many people in Texas are Cubs fans. They could watch the Cubs on the WGN superstation for much of their lives. People who have never even been to Chicago in Texas cheer for the Cubs.
