  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) Groce shouldn't see another day at coach of U of I. Agreed. I'm embarrassed. One of the finest public universities in the United States and 40% of the team are alleged criminals.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) That's true. I just want him to be on the Sox for his entire career and it sucks knowing that he'll go elsewhere in a few years. I'll still root for him either way, but it won't be the same when he's on another team. I just want him to be on the Sox while he's young, healthy, and good value.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) Well, the slim chance of Sale coming back to the Sox after his contract is up has officially bit the dust. The White Sox will have gotten more than their money's worth by then. And I'm not sure the Sox want to pay that elbow, anyway.
  4. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) This is not an all or none concept. It would be fun for a kid to be there occasionally. Its a burden to have them there all the time. If you truly can't see that, you are just after crticizing KW to criticiae him. And this is super common in all sports. Kids are around the clubhouse but not all the time.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) That's not good to hear about the game. Hate to say this but LaRoche returning might be what's best for the clubhouse. I think that whole thing is overblown. And the players played yesterday, so clearly they weren't that militant that a weak manager like Ventura could talk them into playing.
  6. QUOTE (Gakman23 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:41 AM) On Mike and Mike right now they are discussing how Robin had to basically beg the players to play yesterday after they found out Kenny stepped into the office and made the no LaRoche jr allowed in the office every day. Sounds like a team all on the same page, but I would guess someone probably complained behind the scenes and that's why this happened. I'm almost certain that whoever was uncomfortable fell in line behind the rest of the team to preserve chemistry. If I have a problem with my co-worker, I go to my boss, then act as though it didn't happen for the sake of the workplace environment.
  7. Good grief, I agree with Rock. I don't know why Dick Allen thinks this is so complicated "It doesn't make any sense" It makes perfect sense. "Dial it back" is completely fair. Your kid doesn't need to be in the locker room every day.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) Here's an article from last summer. And apparently KW didn't even realize the kid was around so much until this spring. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0620-story.html Further supports the idea that a new player went to a front office member and said something. I wouldn't expect Kenny Williams to spend much time in the locker room, otherwise.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) I disagree. I'm sorry that I'm not going to jump on board and praise him for being a great father. He's not a great father. Nailed it. Keeping your kid in a baseball locker room is not good parenting. The kid should be in school.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Exactly. Eaton has been tweeting about it and a "source" says Sale is pissed. Yet how many other players are quiet about the situation? Why do you think that is? Right. I respect KW for taking the "fire" on this. The fact is, there was likely a player, but he can remain anonymous and be "angry" in the meantime to preserve team chemistry.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) Maybe not, but still it is an unwelcome sign. What constitutes the amount of dialing it back? If he is a distraction every day, why wouldn't he be a distraction once a week? Most situations where kids "grew up in the locker room" involved the kids being there less than 50% of the time. Kyle Long was not in the locker room "every day" Also, it's not a matter of the kid being a distraction, it has a lot more to do with setting some ground rules. Someone was clearly uncomfortable.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) Depending on how the cap floor rules would be applied to expansion teams, they would almost have to draft a few of the high dollar players to get past the floor level. For sure. I doubt they bite on Brent Seabrook, but you definitely expose him, anyway.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:57 PM) I'm sure that would have been reported in one of the 1,000 stories about Drake last year Another Drake causing problems for a Reinsdorf franchise.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:37 PM) Our organization looks horrible now. Great You're joking. The organization looks great and has a reputation for pleasing its players. Chill.
  15. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Absolutely no problem with what KW said. I haven't agreed with much from KW, but I'm glad he laid down the law on this.
  16. Good. Confirmed. No harm, no foul.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) To his credit, I understand completely. He's said for a while now how having his son travel with him is so special. It's also suspect parenting. I highly doubt anything about this retirement will reflect badly on the White Sox. There is just so little smoke on this.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) Mashinter doesn't score, make plays, fight, or hit. What is his function? He's the official Car bomb replacement.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Q shaking things up, and at this point you can't blame him. New lines at practice: Fleischmann-Toews-Kane Panarin-Anisimov-Hossa Ladd-Rasmussen-Shaw Mashinter-Desjardins-Weise "Nuclear option"
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) And look how closer they are now, they have their puppet in place with a championship roster and all of the sudden those injuries that were Thibs fault and those crazy minutes that were Thibs fault haven't gone away. But the defense went away and the offense looks worse. Weird WHAT?! We're talking about the Bulls! This was never a championship roster. At the very least, I would rather have a lottery pick than be an 8 seed.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) That f***ing train wreck won 50 games, this current f***ing train wreck looks like it will be lucky to break 40 50 games and nowhere close to a championship
  22. Hopefully he can work out whatever personal issues he is having.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) McDermott sucked and then got hurt. Now you are saying Thibs won too many games? Were they trying to win a championship or not? For a guy who tells everyone how wrong they are, reading your fiction time and time again is beyond hysterical. Blaming injuries on Thibs is a joke. They were hurt before he came, they keep getting hurt after he left. You think Gar has to go, but you fell for his Thibs narrative hook, line and sinker. There would have been no reason to fire Thibs if the Bulls did the correct thing and launched Gar instead. The team would be better off. What fiction? Gar Forman clearly thought the team could improve by moving on to a different coach. It didn't and Hoiberg should have been his last chance. It's not hard.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Zach Zaidman ‏@ZachZaidman 42m42 minutes ago TE Zach Miller says QB Jay Cutler was one of the biggest reasons he wanted to come back to the #Bears. Hopefully Cutler continues to be good, because the Bears are essentially out of the weeds on his contract. Really good to see players recognize his strong performance last season.
  25. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 01:20 AM) They did. And I like how AustinIllini dodged the question of why the Bulls are a whole lot worse than last year with Thibs. And how the minutes haven't changed under Hoiberg, the injuries are as bad if not worse and the only thing that has changed is the team is worse on offense, defense, point differential and wins. How'd they go from the only threat to Cleveland to not knowing if they'll make the playoffs. He tried to implement the Spurs offense and the players couldn't pick it up or wouldn't pick it up. Same with Hoiball. Thibs became a victim of his own success. He constantly overachieved. The Bulls FO rightly saw the writing on the wall. Thibodeau was never going to get out of the east and he was never going to let the team play bad enough to get a good draft pick. That's basketball irrelevance. Thibs would prohibit any rebuild and couldn't take the current squad to the finals, period. On top of that, Thibodeau wouldn't play the players Gar wanted him to play (McDermott rotted for a year). The problem is, Hoiberg is not a good coach at the NBA level. For that, Gar deserves to be fired, but stop pretending that the Bulls had no reason to fire Thibodeau. *The minutes haven't changed because Fred Hoiberg isn't very smart *Over Thibs' tenure, the injuries were significantly worse than anything we have seen this year and I'm sure the FO thought Hoiberg would be better What is so annoying is that I mostly agree with you: Gar needs to go. What bothers me is that you insist on calling me out when I have done nothing to you except ignore your ESPN First Take, no value added talking points.
