  1. Finally a real broadcaster on the south side.
  2. Given Kane is having the best year of his career, I'm still convinced Crawford is the MVP of this team.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) Before he scored a few days back, his shooting percentage had dropped to 4.3, it was not gonna stay that low. Last year was his career full season low at 8.9. It's a good sign that Hossa didn't get too worked up about his lack of scoring. Clearly the type of player you want on your team.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Not sure I have ever seen a worse coach than Pitino Jr Watch more DePaul ;-)
  5. I really want to believe Teravainen is the real deal. He has looked pretty good so far.
  6. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) Andrew Smith, former Butler C of 4-5 years ago, passed away today of cancer at age 25. Sad Absolutely devastating news. Props to Brad Stevens for being there for Smith's family and props to the Boston Celtics for letting Stevens miss the game he was scheduled to coach.
  7. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Shaw on hat trick watch.
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Funniest thing I've ever heard a student section do. This was at MSU hockey games: Students (at approx. 1:05 left in a period): Hey, Jerry, how much time? PA Announcer (presumably named Jerry): One minute, one minute remaining in the period Students: Thank you. Illinois club hockey fans do that, and once a season, the announcer actually says "You're welcome!" I remember looking for the clock to reach 1:03
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Makes absolute sense. Privately funded deal. I understand why Chargers wanted Raiders though, public market studies indicate Chargers would be the preferred LA team in a scenario where you had Chargers / Raiders. Rams are top preferred team (by a pretty large margin) when they are here (no idea why this is the case cause the Rams were never talked about positively when I was a kid). Presuming economics work in favor of Chargers having 50/50 control with Kroenke, I would think that alleviates some of the concerns over revenue sharing. The funny part will be what happens to Spanos after Raiders eventually move to San Diego in future, LOL. Raiders had no Stadium proposal, but are threatening to go to the Alamodome already. They would be completely out of place down here.
  10. Anisimov out. Teuvo is centering the Kane line.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 06:07 PM) Sounds like the Rams and Chargers are headed to Los Angeles More sources on twitter appear to be confirming this. Can't believe it's happening. So strange.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) You knew the NFL would screw the Raiders if they could. Local sources suggest San Antonio could be a potential target for the Raiders should they remain stuck in Oakland. I'm not sure how realistic that is, but San Antonio and Austin are only some 60 miles apart on 80 MPH highways. Theoretically, the Raiders could be exposed to 4 million in SA. In reality, San Antonio is likely to unseat Los Angeles as a "shield" by which teams can negotiate with their home markets.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) I'll add Goodfellas to ones listed as multiple watches This for me as well as the Godfather. I watched that movie endlessly in college
  14. No Panik today. Q going with what's working for the time being.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) I remember the same thing happening during Seahawks/49ers playoff games a few years back, it's happened in the NFL too. What can the league really do? I'm sure the teams' front office gets the required amount of tickets. I think my NFL example is a bad one for the simple reason that NFL games in San Francisco and Seatlle still all sell out. The issue is, this is Nashville. The Preds don't sell out. If Nashville can't fill their stadium, they shouldn't be stopping the NHL from selling tickets and making a profit. Other franchises don't mind because they're run by competent businessmen. When the Dallas Morning News saw the Blackhawks fans fill the American Airlines Center when Chicago was in town, they wrote a great article about how Dallas needed to model themselves after Chicago. Nashville is just settling for cheap antics because they know they can never have the following Dallas let alone Chicago has.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) I'm surprised the league allows this. In a more strongly regulated league like the NFL, this would never fly. The NHL, however, is a lot of silly antics.
  17. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 06:56 AM) I don't get the LHolmes love on SoxTalk. He just seems like the biggest nerd. He's basically us. And he's not a complete jerk. Also, he makes an effort to talk about things other than the NBA.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) Good night college football season. Time to Chase another one in a few months. Illinois will be eliminated from bowl contention by about 10 AM tomorrow.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Clemson DB got away with a clear hold there. They haven't been called for anything all night. That's what defense should look like.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) It will be interesting now. If I'm Bama they have to be drilling it in Coker's head to step up and slide out of the pocket, those DEs have been coming after him and losing contain all game long and he's actually a good athlete. As an aside, man does Batman v. Superman look terrible. At best, it's a rehash of all the hero movies out there. It doesn't look remotely inventive or groundbreaking. I'd take a Ben Affleck solo Batman inspired by the Dark Knight Returns Batman (but without Superman) in a second over this nonsense.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) I am so underwhelmed by Dowell Loggains being promoted to offensive coordinator. I think it's probably the right move. Also, he's unlikely to move on and likely to use the Gase system.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Hypothetically, lets say Bill Cosby was an NFL player...do you think Goodell shouldn't have the authority to hold him more accountable for his actions than whatever the court system has decided? Is your employer able to do so (that answer is, with the exception of certain protection, yes). I understand why you would want to suspend a player under that level of suspicion, but when nothing comes of it, the player has to be allowed to play. The tougher question is, if the Patrick Kane case had continued, should the NHL have allowed him to play? (Full disclosure: These kind of cases hit home for lots of us, and I had trouble the first quarter of the season cheering for Patrick Kane and probably projected it more than I should have here and elsewhere, and for that I apologize) QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Well, I can tell this thread is going to suck soon, but I can't let this go: Rape has not become a subjective term. You have listed 3 examples. There may be upward of dozens more in the last decade. These stories scare men that believe they too may have someone falsely accuse them of rape. On the flip side, women are scared of actually being sexually assaulted and raped. As opposed to false accusations there are thousands of assaults and rape each year. It is insulting to even insinuate that because there have been cases of false accusations there is an even playing field here that has made rape a subjective term. Too many men rape too many women, and when it happens it is their boyfriends, friends, classmates or co-workers and it makes men uncomfortable to feel associated to that but it is unreal to push back by watering it down to say it doesn't exist. Women saying all men are rapists is a hell of a lot closer to truth than "rape is a subjective term" Well said. The number of false accusations pale in comparison to the number of untried cases.
