  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) Good night college football season. Time to Chase another one in a few months. Illinois will be eliminated from bowl contention by about 10 AM tomorrow.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) Clemson DB got away with a clear hold there. They haven't been called for anything all night. That's what defense should look like.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:50 PM) It will be interesting now. If I'm Bama they have to be drilling it in Coker's head to step up and slide out of the pocket, those DEs have been coming after him and losing contain all game long and he's actually a good athlete. As an aside, man does Batman v. Superman look terrible. At best, it's a rehash of all the hero movies out there. It doesn't look remotely inventive or groundbreaking. I'd take a Ben Affleck solo Batman inspired by the Dark Knight Returns Batman (but without Superman) in a second over this nonsense.
  4. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) I am so underwhelmed by Dowell Loggains being promoted to offensive coordinator. I think it's probably the right move. Also, he's unlikely to move on and likely to use the Gase system.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:03 PM) Hypothetically, lets say Bill Cosby was an NFL player...do you think Goodell shouldn't have the authority to hold him more accountable for his actions than whatever the court system has decided? Is your employer able to do so (that answer is, with the exception of certain protection, yes). I understand why you would want to suspend a player under that level of suspicion, but when nothing comes of it, the player has to be allowed to play. The tougher question is, if the Patrick Kane case had continued, should the NHL have allowed him to play? (Full disclosure: These kind of cases hit home for lots of us, and I had trouble the first quarter of the season cheering for Patrick Kane and probably projected it more than I should have here and elsewhere, and for that I apologize) QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) Well, I can tell this thread is going to suck soon, but I can't let this go: Rape has not become a subjective term. You have listed 3 examples. There may be upward of dozens more in the last decade. These stories scare men that believe they too may have someone falsely accuse them of rape. On the flip side, women are scared of actually being sexually assaulted and raped. As opposed to false accusations there are thousands of assaults and rape each year. It is insulting to even insinuate that because there have been cases of false accusations there is an even playing field here that has made rape a subjective term. Too many men rape too many women, and when it happens it is their boyfriends, friends, classmates or co-workers and it makes men uncomfortable to feel associated to that but it is unreal to push back by watering it down to say it doesn't exist. Women saying all men are rapists is a hell of a lot closer to truth than "rape is a subjective term" Well said. The number of false accusations pale in comparison to the number of untried cases.
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) While Hossa is aging and the contract will be a drag, I think he does things off the ice that helps the team to be better and will always be worth the contract. Sure, and while he hasn't and probably will not be the same player, he can still be a productive player, even if he moves down to lower lines. Personally, I'll take 40 y/o Hossa over Bickell any day of the week.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Same here, it was the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, they smoked them like 7-2 or something. That year was so awesome. Q would send out this line on rare occasion of Kane, Toews, and Hossa and it was absolutely crazy. They were almost too good to the point where they would make one or two too many passes on any offensive chance.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) That was a game against the Sharks. I was at a bar hooting and hollering. Yeah, Hossa was one of my favorites when he was on the Senators (not listed in your post above). Given he's won 3 Cups with the Hawks, should he get into the Hall it'd without question be as a Blackhawk even if his better seasons were the first 10 of his career. I just remember going from hating him (in Pittsburgh, Detroit) to loving him in Chicago. He was so good in Detroit and I hating him so much that year. That series against Detroit stung so bad but you knew good things were to come.
  9. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) The question is, does he go in as a Blackhawk? Or does the NHL not do that sort of thing? The actual plaques don't have any team representation as far as I can tell. Hossa is probably in. He was so good in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Detroit. I remember the outrage when the Hawks let Havlat go in favor for this guy. I ordered his Blackhawks sweater literally as soon as I could after he signed with the Hawks. When he came back from injury, he came back with a bang scoring two in his debut. Grantland has decent analysis on this. They didn't project him to have such a slow scoring season, but I think it's still a good article on the subject. Is Marian Hossa a Hall of Famer?
  10. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) Hossa up to 493 goals. Could hit 500 within the next 6 weeks or so. Does 500 get him into the HOF or will he get the Roenick treatment? I don't think there was ever any doubt Marian Hossa is a Hall of Famer.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) Hawks are within 4 points of the #1 seed. Stars don't play again until Friday, so there's a legit shot (albeit without games in hand) that the Hawks could be back on top of the Central by week's end. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) @AustinIllini Pretty stoked, as I'll be at the UC on Sunday
  12. Q just waved Hossa back out in hopes of getting him a Hat trick.
  13. Hopefully Teuvo is okay. He was really laboring his way to the bench.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 07:20 PM) First time ever. The new eight division setup helped make it happen with two 9 win teams hosting double digit winners. That and two epic meltdowns. Truth. In reality, neither Houston nor Washington had any business being home teams after "winning" their awful divisions.
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Do you have more than 1 TV? I do not. I might get relegated to my computer screen.
  16. Good News: Blackhawks scored again Bad News: My wife is going to use this to justify putting on the Golden Globes
  17. f***ing Game Center Live delay. Awesome shot. Out comes Varlamov SOLVED.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) Hawks looking good again Looked great for most of a period and a half, but now have to step on the gas again after letting two in.
  19. Hossa scores. He had only had one goal in his last 18. Happy for him.
  20. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 06:25 PM) I tried to stick to players that actually played that position(the Buff thing is a little bit of a stretch since he mostly played wing for the Hawks, but whatever). I thought about Teuvo, but people forget how solid of a player Versteeg was during his 1st run with the Hawks. And again in this scenario, these are all players playing at their peak. Bolland for example, is shot. Even with that said, this team playing together now would CRUSH. It's a great list. You could do Teuvo or Versteeg considering their roles on their respective teams were similar (the "potential young phenom"). I just hope Teuvo turns out better.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) 2010's Dream Team(That would actually make sense from a talent perspective). Sharp-Toews-Hossa Panarin-Anisimov-Kane Saad-Vermette-Versteeg Ladd-Bolland-Brouwer Seabrook-Campbell Keith-Byfuglien Hjalmarsson-Leddy Crawford Niemi Those top 3 lines would snipe, the 4th line would be grinders, and each defensive pair brings offense and defense. I hate that I can't think of a player to replace Versteeg, because I don't much care for him. Maybe Teuvo can be that guy, but the jury is still out on that, of course. I guess he's a "centerman" though.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 10, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) I miss Nick Leddy. He's so good now. Nick Leddy, Andrew Ladd for me are like the two I wish we had back.
  23. We all knew Gase was gone. I have confidence in John Fox to hire the right guy to fill the OC position.
