QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Adam Gase is gonna be a wanted man this off season. Quick questions? He signed a 3 year contract, correct? Technically, the Bears can be d***s and not let him interview, right? If so, I'd promise him he can be the HC after Fox or something. Retaining Gase is a MUST this off season Can't happen. The Bears can't block Gase from interviewing elsewhere. In the coaching carousel last year, Gase was the last man out. I'm really happy Jay looks like the guy the Bears traded for, but Gase is still likely gone. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) If the Bears finish 4-12/5-11 and Cutler finishes with 22 TD's and 13 INT's, I'm not sure why he would be truly "wanted" other than people just saying "Cutler 'looks' different." We know why the Bears are bad and offense is not that facet of the game. Defense and Special Teams are awful. The Offense looks great. There may be some coaching candidates that leapfrog Gase, but he will interview a lot of places and likely land a job.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Are Bulls fans stoked about Hoiberg? What's the fan reaction after a few games? He's a good offensive tactician. The problem is, he has a team that was essentially built by Thibs, the Rose/Butler problem is a reality, and health continues to be a problem. There's a ton of talent on the Bulls, but they just aren't much of a team. Hoiberg does look like a pretty good coach so far.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 02:12 AM) exactly and that is the point, who no matter how good of a gm the hawks have, will find it difficult to find a trading partner. just keep developing those young prospects. I'd almost rather rough through in than make the Johns mistake again. That time, Bowman had a gun to his head.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) according to a hockey site i visit and some may not like or trust, it was mention that Q and the hawks FO are looking to trade for a dman. even though some of the injured dmans may be coming back sooner than expected. it is really going to be hard to find room, due to salary cap restrictions. i just can't see it. plus, has anyone really been disappointed in Darling play this season??? So, the way I see it, in last year's Stanley Cup playoff run you had four defensemen taking the brunt of the ice time. Problem is, Oduya is gone, and his replacement is Trevor Daley, who is a throwaway at best. Who could the Blackhawks move?

Illinois fires AD Mike Thomas

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) It matters because football coaches start getting hired in about a month. Maybe, but Illinois is at the bottom of the pecking order for coaches, so timing matters less. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) What awful timing. This couldn't have been done a couple months ago? I don't think it matters. It sounds like the school did some actual due diligence and handled the situation just fine. Time to start looking at AD candidates. -

Thank you, Jesus. The school couldn't let him hire another coach. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 09:13 PM) NFL coaches are just so ridiculously conservative. You can say that again. Punting is the best example. I can't remember the actual statistical findings, but it's evident that teams punt too much and go for field goals too often. If it's 4th and less than three, regardless of field position, coaches should go for it. If it's fourth and less than 7 and you're inside your opponents 40, you should go for it.

QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 11:18 PM) Sadly, sports on WGN are only shown locally now. You no longer get Sox, Bulls, Cubs games on WGN America. Yeah, so those games get blacked even though I forked over like $200 for GCL

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) Kane leads the NHL in goals That's epic, especially considering Tyler Seguin's pace is a strange one. He had a shorty yesterday and a hat trick the game before. He doesn't look like a scoring leader. Kane is more impressive when you consider Seguin and Benn are the best scoring pair in hockey and therefore get assists like there's no tomorrow.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 07:59 PM) Panarin with 2 goals. Kane 2 assists. The 2nd Panarin goal might have been offsides as Panarin made an extra move at the blue line but Edmonton didn't use the coach's challenge. I wish I could watch. We have UVerse so we don't get NHL Network. I did get to watch Detroit look bad against Dallas.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 09:53 AM) Toews fought yesterday, so there's that. Insult to injury. Toews shouldn't fight ever. Some Captains have the build to do something like that, but Toews isn't one of them.

White Sox make qualifying offer to Jeff Samardzija.
Bananarchy replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good. He's not worth what he thinks he is worth, so he won't be signing here. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) They're both Pro-Bowlers. Today, Greg Hardy is a Pro-Bowler. Most NFL scouts are of the opinion Ray Rice is not good anymore.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) This is actually a very interesting use which I'd like. But when the cubs were in the playoffs and bernstein was tweeting like "cubs now have a 65% probability of winning", it was like, cool, should I watch. The problem with a number of these stats is they are based heavily on regular season performance, but when compared to a 162 game season, the playoffs are a minuscule sample size.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) Even before today, it was a well-known fact that Hardy is an asshole who shouldn't be in the league. How he's playing for the Cowboys and Ray Rice is unemployed is beyond me. No, I'm not saying Rice > Hardy, I'm saying they're equally terrible. Jerry Jones is a moron, but it's not hard to see why Hardy is playing and Rice isn't. Hardy is a Pro Bowler and Rice is garbage. But as people, they're both garbage, and while I watch a lot of Cowboys, I can't watch that moron on the field.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) Kane is absolutely a victim. How does being falsely accused of one of the worst things a human being can do by some gold digger not warrant being a victim? This girl set real rape victims back 30 years, not Patrick Kane. Apparently trying to frame a rich athlete with rape isnt as bad as "what Kane did to the Blackhawks organisation" by going out with friends with security/driver during the offseason... If she were a gold digger, why wouldn't she continue to cooperate with the case? Her odds of making money with a civil suit drop significantly if the case against Kane is dropped. For that matter, why hasn't there been more mention of a civil suit?

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:51 AM) ahhhhh i love it. that my friend is another fine line of logic which can be discussed endlessly. for me this is like the chicken or the egg discussion. b/c of the many tangible discussion that it will open. my biggest comment against it. an analogy, the boy who cries wolf. The problem is, in the boy who cries wolf, the boy wasn't invited to the wolf's house. You seem to be taking this so personally. It's over. Kane's not going after his accuser and he's not being charged. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) totally off related. i have to give the blackhawks org props for not abandoning Kan in the beginning. It's completely related if you think Kane is interested in pressing charges against his accuser. Doing so would achieve nothing and instead cause problems.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:50 AM) What would be her motivation to make up that story then? She may have felt sexually violated. I'm not sure. All I'm saying is, backlash against these kinds of accusers are generally frowned upon, because most cases like these (rape) go unreported.
-
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) I just can't believe some of the responses on here. Every shred of evidence from eye witness to scientific contradicts this woman's story. Yet somehow Kane is still not the victim even though his reputation is ruined (what little good reputation he had left) and he lost substantial money over it. He also somehow embarrassed the Blackhawks because someone made up lies about him. How the hell does that work? I agree the situation is really difficult. But we're kind of arguing over something relatively moot. Kane shouldn't go after his accuser because it doesn't really achieve anything. All that would do is bring more press to the story he wants to go away. The last thing Kane, the Blackhawks, or the NHL wants is for this thing to become any bigger. If Gawker, the Daily Beast, the Huffington Post, or any other left leaning news source caught wind of this, the backlash could be enough to make the NHL do something.

QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) by science.... the results of the DNA, which is the foundation of questioning her creditably. when the DNA results came back, that was the domino effect in reverse. Right, but someone who is not credible is not necessarily malicious.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) Her account is directly contradicted by her friend as well as several other witnesses as well as DNA evidence. As a last ditch effort her mother fraudulently tried to set up the police dept as the fall guy. How many other things need to happen to point to this being an outright lie? Can you prove that she knowingly and maliciously lied? Can you prove that her version of the story was not a result of her mental state? Until you can, Kane isn't the victim. Kane would be stupid to seek any retribution, anyway. He just wants the story to go away. Last thing he needs is the more left leaning news outlets running away with this.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) If the Bulls want to beat Cleveland in the playoffs, each of the following has to happen: -Rose plays like he did last night (which actually isn't too far-fetched) -Butler plays good defense but remains a viable offensive option -Mirotic has to come to play, and not put up 2 points like last night -At least 3 of our top 4 bigs have to be healthy (Portis would slip into the #4 spot) -McDermott and Moore have to continue being solid role players Not impossible, but we'll see. Add to that: Something has to happen to LeBron James.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) I know it is because all accounts here point to Kane as the victim, I'm still waiting on the evidence you had that suggested that there was "something there". Don't confuse "not being charged" with "being the victim". In cases of sexual assault, the tables don't turn like that. If that girl did feel threatened, she was still the victim. Unless you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that the plaintiff knowingly and maliciously lied about her situation, you cannot call Patrick Kane the victim.
